[Bug 1432194] Re: Graphics unstable on Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 using Intel HD Graphics 5500
I have to agree with Bernd and John. The problems I'm experiencing to my understanding match the description of this report and the many screenshots people attached here perfectly. And they persist with the most current packages in the official repositories. It may be due to a lack of technical understanding on my side, but I don't understand how this issue could be regarded as resolved. People already reported that the rendering and font issues don't occur in 15.04. But I'm using LTS for a reason. And it's not like Intel's HD 5500 would be some obscure, negligible piece of hardware. But if for whatever reason this issue should not be regarded as important enough to get further investigation, it would be nice to know, just to make an informed decision. Because in that case I would probably prefer switching to 15.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1432194 Title: Graphics unstable on Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 using Intel HD Graphics 5500 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1432194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1432194] Re: Graphics unstable on Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 using Intel HD Graphics 5500
Had time to experiment a little bit more. Turns out I can now only reproduce the rendering and font issues when the T450s is attached to the Ultra Dock docking station (which is how I most of the time use it). When I remove the laptop from the Ultra Dock and reboot, everything seems fine. As soon as I attach it to the Dock again, rendering and font errors start to occur and seem to gradually get worse the longer I keep closing and opening apps. When booting with the laptop attached to the Dock it's worst and the system is utterly unusable right from the start.

[Bug 661711] Re: Hibernate fails on Thinkpads
Eli, let's be precise: suspend to disk (hibernate) fails, but suspend to RAM (suspend) works fine. Or is it different in your case? I wonder what it takes to get the attention of someone who knows how to tackle this problem. I know that Ubuntu is for free and it's great but still I would think that this is a rather serious regression issue for a release that is meant to be stable considering that it seems to affect many recent Thinkpad series and even other laptop brands according to the comments here. Like I said in the bug descreption: I would be glad to do anything I could to help fixing this, but I just don't have the knowledge and experience to know how to approach this. -- Hibernate fails on Thinkpads https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 661711] Re: Hibernate fails on Thinkpads
** Description changed: Since the upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 (stable release) hibernate mostly fails on my Thinkpad X60s. The screen fades black and the harddisk LED turns on like it normally does when the memory image gets written to the disk. But then the sleep LED (the half-moon) starts blinking and never stops. The laptop does not turn itself off but stays in this undefined state forever. Resuming from this state is impossible. I have to press the power button for a few seconds to turn it off the hard way and just then I am able to boot it again. Suspend does work normally. In Ubuntu 10.04 I had no problems at all with hibernate. Interestingly hibernate seems to fail only when activated after the laptop was running for a little while. When I boot the laptop and then activate hibernate immediately, it works fine. I tried an upstream kernel (2.6.35-02063504-generic, from this location: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.35.4-maverick/) according to the instructions in the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds). Initially I was not able to reproduce the bug but by now it occurred with this kernel too. + It seems to happen with this kernel less often though, but that might be + fluke. [Bug 285999] Re: gnome-terminal tabs switch is slow when maximized
I tried it with and without compiz now and it makes no difference. But after looking more closely I have to specify: There's not any delay in switching the terminal content itself but only in switching the focused tab into the foreground which gives the false impression that there would be a delay in switching the whole terminal content. So it's really just a matter of beauty and the bug probably shouldn't be regarded as very important (on the other hand for many users especially these little unimportant things decide whether the user finds the system slick and smooth or not). -- gnome-terminal tabs switch is slow when maximized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285999 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 98605] Re: Sound problems on hibernate, IBM T41
I can confirm this bug on a Thinpad T30. Sound works after cold start. Sound stops working after (warm) reboot and after resuming from hibernation. Sound is working again after resuming from suspend. This problem definitely appeared only after I upgraded from 6.10 to 7.04. To make it really clear: I had _no_ sound problems with 6.10. Probably this bug is related to #57141.
