[Bug 1103043] Re: AppArmor won't let DHCP server write to file

The problem also currently exists on Ubuntu 12.10.
Adding network packet raw to /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd does resolve it.

[Bug 1098779] Re: Xorg freeze

2013-01-13 Thread Narf
Since it turned out that installing the fglrx package doesn't
automatically run 'aticonfig --initial', I've attached log files for
both when xorg.conf is not present and when it is generated by running
'aticonfig --initial', along with the generated xorg.conf file.

Sorry about those being in separate comments - launchpad doesn't seem to
enable me to add multiple attachments with 1 comment.

[Bug 1098779] Re: Xorg freeze

2013-01-11 Thread Narf
I can confirm this on 100%, with some more details:

 - I haven't tried ssh, but my power button works - not forcing it, I see
messages about terminating running processes.
 - Kernel image version is irrelevant, I've tried with 3.5.0-17-generic,
3.5.0-21-generic, 3.5.0-22-generic.
 - fglrx-updates gives the same result.
 - Installing the latest drivers from AMD's website also doesn't work (both the
latest stable and Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11).

Xorg.0.log says Screens found, but none have a usable configuration.
(from memory, I'm on another machine right now and will post the full
log later).

My graphics adapter is AMD Mobility Radeon HD 7650M on a Sony Vaio E
series (SVE1712V1EB) laptop. I did a lot of googling and it seems like
only a few guys on Arch Linux have managed to run a Radeon HD 7000M
series adapter with fglrx.

[Bug 325494] [NEW] pidgin randomly crashes

2009-02-04 Thread Narf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Pidgin just randomly crashes with no visible symptoms for that.

I use it mainly for ICQ messaging on two Acer laptops. Both of them run
Intrepid with the same kernel versions:

Linux laptop 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:28:32 UTC 2009 x86_64
GNU/Linux
Linux daemon 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 15 11:03:58 UTC 2009 i686
GNU/Linux

... and there the similarities end.

The first one is with a AMD Turion 64-bit X2 Mobile Technology TL-56
processor with the nVidia chipset, and the second one is has an Intel
Pentium M processor with some Intel chipset.

Pidgin crashes on both of them, but it happens more frequently on the
64-bit one(backtrace attached for it).

[Bug 193982] [NEW] Firefox crashes while loading a webpage

2008-03-07 Thread Narf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I wasn't able to do a backtrace for an unknown reason, but here's the
situation:

I browse around the net and suddenly when I click another link or type a new
website address firefox just crashes for no particular reason.
As far as I noticed it happens on an absolutely random basis with no obvious
reason(different websites, different extensions used, etc.)
It happens only on my computer at work, so it might be hardware-specific.

I'd be happy to submit more info if somebody provides me with
instructions how to debug it.

[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage

2008-02-28 Thread Narf
After starting with --debug I was able to use it for almost a week without a
single crash until now.
The problem seems to be with the flash player extension, however this time it
just hanged - didn't just disappear as previous times.

I have like 512mb of ram and 1gb swap and I've been using firefox on a
system with far less resources without having problems.

[Bug 193982] Re: Firefox crashes while loading a webpage

2008-02-28 Thread Narf
I didn't notice swap ehxaustion, I'll be watching it next time.
Interesting thing is that it happens even 5 seconds after launching firefox, so
I don't know if the problem could be related to swap.
No particular website causes it on a regular basis.

[Bug 177792] Remove selected doesn't work in the directory tree

2007-12-20 Thread Narf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnomebaker

When burning something, on the lower left side of the window there's a
directory tree.
You can click on some directory that you included in the list for burning and
click on Remove selected. However, nothing actually happens when you click it.
I guess nobody has reported this yet, as you can simply do this on the right
side, where the disk/image contents are shown, so it's not that a big deal.

I agree on that and I've never said it should work this way just because
Windows does.
I was just replying to Sarah Hobbs' comment.

[Bug 113259] localeconf exits if you try to select to override any of the functions

2007-05-08 Thread Narf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: localeconf

I do 'dpkg-reconfigure localeconf' to select my locales, and it gives me the
option to override the default one for some of the variables(LC_MESSAGES for
example).
However, if I select to override it - the configurator just exits without
changing anything(even no error message).

This existed since Edgy, but my computer at home was already configured, so I
didn't notice it.
I've also noticed that there are only UTF-8 locales in Feisty? I'm sorry to
say, but ... that sucks. :(

[Bug 110228] gnomemines pause when moving or resizing window

2007-04-26 Thread Narf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

When moving or resizing the window of gnomemines, the game pauses
automatically and the Press to resume button appears even if the game
was never started, no matter that the window is on focus all the time.
That's a quite annoying behaviour that appeared after upgrade to Feisty.

Still happens in Feisty.
And I had to remove ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/ to get rid of
the error message that appears every time I login.
