[Bug 453579] Re: in-place corruption of large files *without fsck or reboot* reported with linux 2.6.31-14.46 on ext4
The different checksums affects me too, I'm using the final release version of 9.10 on an Intel Celeron on a laptop. I did RAM tests with a live copy of 8.04, for many hours with no errors, so I don't think it's bad memory. 8.04 works (with default ext3), 8.04 alt w/ full disk encryption works, also with normal checksums. 9.10 gives errors (with default ext4), w/ home directory encryption, I also get bad checksums. 9.10 live CD also gives me errors when I haven't even installed it when I use: sudo shred -xvfz -n0 /dev/sdb # A USB flash disk I wanted to wipe It failed at 4.7GB and started saying something about sync errors. This same file operation works fine with the 8.04 Live CD. I wonder if it's not just an ext4 problem, but a problem in the way 9.10 handles large files. -- in-place corruption of large files *without fsck or reboot* reported with linux 2.6.31-14.46 on ext4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 348983] Re: [jaunty] PyTables does not work for Python 2.6
Hi, I also suffer from this problem. If possible I would like to see this issue solved. As a temporary work-around, the following procedure worked for me. - install python-dev and libhdf5-serial-dev (See one of the above mails) - download pytables 2.1.1, untar (for instance in ~/tmp) and compile as explained in the pytables manual (but do not install as root, which is the last step in the manual) - check the tests - copy the directory ~/tmp/tables-2.1.1/tables to a library directory included in PYTHONPATH. (To achieve this, I included in ~/.bash_profile the line: export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:~/myprogs/python/:~/lib/python/:. ) Thus, I used cp -r ~/tmp/tables-2.1.1/tables ~/lib/python . Hope this works for you too. I also installed pytables as root by running python --setup.py instal, but this did not have the desired result for some reason. -- [jaunty] PyTables does not work for Python 2.6 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348983 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 112036] libsafe violation detected with Amarok1.4.3/ruby1.8
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libsafe Hello everybody, I have libsafe installed and configured to fire a mail whenever an access violation event occurs. I recently installed Amarok 1.4.3 from the dapper-backports repository. The new Amarok has scripting support and one of the script, 'Lyrics: LyricWiki v2.0' which depends on 'Ruby 1.8' happens to fire that dreaded mail with the termination of /usr/bin/ruby1.8 This is how I installed libsafe 2.0-16-6: sudo apt-get install libsafe ld.so.preload-manager Added the line: '/lib/libsafe.so.2' to /etc/ld.so.preload -- as described in /usr/share/doc/libsafe/libsafe.8.html for set-uid programs as well. Changed the line 'none' to 'root' in /etc/libsafe.notify. I have postfix installed with root - nix (my username) in /etc/aliases(.db). This is how I installed Amarok 1.4.3: sudo apt-get install amarok certain dependencies were asked for. I approved the install anyway. This is how the access violation occurs: When a song is playing in Amarok, clicking the sidebar ContextLyrics shows that no lyrics script is running. Clicking on any of the available script results in the said mail with the termination of /usr/bin/ruby1.8. Amarok however continues to play remaining completely immune to the situation.
