@garnus
We might be seeing different issues...
I'm using an Asus UX32VD with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (rev 24) in the

[Bug 1422143] Re: No wifi connection after suspend with systemd due to missing "wpa_cli suspend"

2015-11-25 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I have been running 15.10 for about a month now, without this problem
(or any other problems).

This issue has suddenly occurred, and, to me, seems like a regression
from a relatively recent update. No other parameters, that I know of,
have changed (same computer, WiFi, OS version).

I have wpasupplicant 2.4-0ubuntu3.2, but I do not know if this is
relevant to my issue.

[Bug 1199132] [NEW] Atheros AR9285 Wireless on Ubuntu 13.04 is slow, unstable and has a weak signal.

2013-07-08 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
Public bug reported:

This problem affects me on 13.04.
uname: Linux HTPC2 3.8.0-25-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 6 20:47:07 UTC 2013
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Stable connection with good ping times, but throughput is measured in 10-20
kB/s.
Other linux machines on the same access point (NETGEAR WNDR3700v2) get 0.5 to 1
mB/s.

Additionaly I noticed that attempting a data transfer over wifi on the
effected machine has a detrimantal effect on ping times for other
machines on the same access point.

Please see bug 1168819 and bug 947697.
This issue has been created as requested in bug 947697.

[Bug 215074] Re: macbook battery info not readable, appears empty

2011-02-05 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm seeing this issue on a macbook 2,1 C2D:
~$ uname -a
Linux AppleCider 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:44 UTC 2011

When I remove the power cable the machine suspends as it is convinced
there is no power on the battery (it is fully charged according to the
indicator on the battery itself).

~$ less /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info
present: yes
design capacity: 0 mWh
last full capacity: 0 mWh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 0 mV
design capacity warning: 250 mWh
design capacity low: 100 mWh
cycle count: 0
capacity granularity 1: 10 mWh
capacity granularity 2: 10 mWh
model number:

~$ less /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: charging
present rate:0 mW
remaining capacity: 0 mWh

As has been mentioned before, this is an intermittent error and I don't
know how to reproduce it.

[Bug 372014] Re: errors in dmesg

2010-07-31 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm seeing this problem on Lucid 10.04.1 on a 64 bit machine with an
SSD.

Prior to seeing this issue my drive was reported read-only due to
encryption errors, and a reboot resulted in the error reported here.

No logs are available from the read-only due to encryption errors
problem, because the the logs were not written...

This is not good.

[Bug 372014] Re: errors in dmesg

2010-07-31 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
Removing 0 length files solved the problem regarding the Either the
lower file is not in a valid eCryptfs format, or the key could not be
retrieved. Plaintext passthrough mode is not enabled; returning -EIO
messages.

I wonder why this problem arose. I suspect it may have originated prior
to the reboot and subsequent automatic disk repair that occurred on my
machine.

[Bug 551527] [NEW] Dualhead NVidia Mac Mini (3, 1) does not boot on clean Lucid beta 1 install

2010-03-30 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
Public bug reported:

Installing Ubuntu Lucid Lynx beta 1 from CD worked without any problems.

When the machine booted afterwards it showed Ubuntu + logo and five
activity dots. After a while these stopped blinking and nothing
further happened.

CTRL+SHIFT+F1..F12 and CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE did not work.

Pressing the power button caused the machine to shut down. (ACPI?)

Booting the machine with only one monitor attached worked without any
problems. (Nouveau KMS?)

I have now installed NVidia proprietary drivers and the machine is able
to boot with both monitors attached.

[Bug 433654] Re: [Karmic] Only one user has sound; no hw shows in Sound Preferences

2010-01-28 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm seeing (hearing?) this problem as well on a 64 bit karmic on 2,1
MacBook.

The Sound Preferences - Output shows Internal Audio Analog Surround 4.0
on user 2, as it is supposed to.
But user 2 does not have sound.

Removing all egroupware packages (complete removal), but not apache,
followed by re-installing egroupware allows the installation of the

[Bug 492649] Re: Laptop automatically suspends right after resume if power cable was disconnected before resuming

2010-01-11 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm seeing this issue (or something *very* similar) on my MacBook 2,1
64bit karmic.

Log attached:
1) Close lid while on AC
2) open lid while on battery
3) Spontaneous suspend while entering password
4) Resume by pressing power button

There are a couple of warning call traces in the log, but I suspect they
should be processed in a separate issue.

[Bug 302026] Re: likewise-open prevents local passwords from being changed

2009-12-01 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I think I am seeing this issue on Karmic.
I have likwise installed, and I am unable to change my password.

Using users-admin-Properties-Change Password locks up when
authenticating, with the messageChecking Password.
Using passwd gives me passwd: Authentication token manipulation error.

[Bug 446421] Re: 2.6.31-12.41 hangs with Radeon KMS

2009-11-25 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I have experienced a couple of system hangs since 2009-10-13, but apport
did not report these, and I did not have time to investigate.

I will report any additional hangs that may be relevant here, when I
encounter them.

[Bug 446421] Re: 2.6.31-12.41 hangs with Radeon KMS

2009-10-13 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I have now tried booting with the 2.6.31-12.41 kernel, and kernel has not yet
hung.
I saw this happen twice in a row when I originally booted with 2.6.31-12.41...
Could this be due to a race condition that I encountered twice by chance?

I have not encountered this on 2.6.31-13.44 yet.

[Bug 446421] [NEW] 2.6.31-12.41 hangs with Radeon KMS

2009-10-08 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
Public bug reported:

First of all:
I cannot find out how to report bugs without using the command ubuntu-bug.
As I need to have a running kernel to use this method I have run $ubuntu-bug
linux on another kernel than the one I wish to report the bug on...

The kernel I have reported this bug on is running with radeon.modeset=1 on
2.6.31-11.38 with a dual head ATI card.
The kernel I hangs on 2.6.31-12.41 with the same card and configuration.

A regression seems to have occurred between these kernels. No revealing
logs were present. The last statement was:

First time:
Oct 8 09:45:50 nsh-ubuntu kernel: [ 20.776080] Unpin not necessary for
88013653f600 !

Second time:
Oct 8 09:49:27 nsh-ubuntu kernel: [ 21.604822] Unpin not necessary for
880135de4a00 !

The secondary screen goes dark, and the kernel freezes.

[Bug 442887] Re: [Dell Inc. OptiPlex 745] suspend/resume failure 2.6.31-11

I saw this problem again today, and I seem to have misreported slightly
initially.
When I suspend the machine it never powers off... When I then power it on again
(not resume for suspend, I get the aforementioned error).

[Bug 417427] Re: No sound in Totem when playing mp4 file

2009-09-22 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm getting the same symptoms under a 64bit virtualbox.

Totem can play an MP3 with sound, but not an MP4 file's sound.
Video from the MP4 file works fine. The MP4 file works with sound and video on
9.04.

The file can be downloaded here:
http://tcs.java.no/tcs/

Running totem from the command line gives:

[Bug 381164] Re: database disk image is malformed

2009-07-07 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm running on a standard Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit machine with ext4.

I've recently started to see problems with Evolution where listing a certain
folder with mails generates the message:
Error while Generating message list.

database disk image is malformed

I currently have two folders that yield this message, and list none of
the mails present in the folder (which is bad, since I want access to
them)

I have used Evolution for 3-4 years now, and I have not seen this message
before.
I am not using IMAP.

The cause of the error is unknown to me. SQLlite?

Running Evolution from a terminal does not provide any additional
information.

I spoke too soon.
I saw this again on a Dell Optiplex 745 running Intrepid with kernel 2.6.27.11

Sound failed as well.

Log attached.

[Bug 284263] Re: ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt mode.

2009-02-08 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt mode.
I'm still seeing this issue on a Macbook 2,1 with the 2.6.27.11 kernel on
intrepid AMD 64.

This is the last thing logged before the computer freezes (unable to
restart X, unable to SSH in via wireless network).

I'm not sure this is the cause of the freeze, but it is the last line
logged.

[Bug 202089] Re: Pulseaudio is blocking normal sound after resume

2009-02-08 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I'm seeing this on Intrepid with kernel 2.6.27.11 on AMD 64 with
pulseaudio 0.9.13-0ubuntu1~ppa2

Just after resume:
Feb 6 20:53:02 AppleCider pulseaudio[6415]: alsa-util.c: Got POLLERR from ALSA
Feb 6 20:53:02 AppleCider pulseaudio[6415]: alsa-util.c: PCM state is SUSPENDED

Feb 6 20:53:02 AppleCider pulseaudio[6415]: alsa-util.c: PCM state is RUNNING
etc

While this is happening the speaker emits a clicking or buzzing sound.

[Bug 292139] Re: Cursor is frozen when Macbook resumes on Intrepid

2009-01-27 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
I am unable to test this using the live CD.

Jaunty beta 3 does not boot into the desktop.
Jaunty beta 3 boots, shows a brown background with a cursor in X, and nothing
else. No login screen, no desktop.

I can't restart X (fn-ctrl-alt-backspace), change into another tty (fn-
ctrl-alt-F1 through F10), eject the CD or get any other response from
the machine.

The mouse cursor can be moved though...

I will try with the 2.6.27.11 kernel.

[Bug 294025] [NEW] Suspend to RAM mostly fails on Ubuntu 8.10 on Optiplex 745

2008-11-05 Thread Nikolaj Sheller
Public bug reported:

Suspend to RAM occasionally works, but most often fails on Ubuntu
Intrepid Ibex 8.10.

When a suspend fails, the following occurs:
1) suspend is selected
2) X screen-saver starts, then hangs
3) Computer never enters suspend
4) Hard drive light flashes occasionally

Power-off is required to get out of this state.

This is seen on a Dell OptiPlex 745 Core 2 6600 with RV516 [Radeon X1300/X1550
Series].
Two monitors are attached (Dual Head), using the radeon 1.29.0 20080528 driver
(according to messages log).
According to Synaptic xserver-xorg-video-radeonxserver-xorg-video-ati version
1:6.9.0+git20081003.f9826a56-0ubuntu2 are installed.

Kernel: 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:12:22 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux

Last statements in log when suspend is invoked:

Nov 4 17:06:56 nsh -- MARK --
