[Bug 507233] Re: NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so
Upgrading to Lucid was unsuccessful, so I did a full install of Alpha 2. This appeared to fix this bug, only to replace it with another. Xorg still crashes with no backtrace, but there is no segfault or general protection on anything. I wouldn't mark this as closed, however, because it may still be related to the same thing. -- NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/507233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

One more thing I should mention. It is still much more stable than before, however, the instability will also occur on AC. [Bug 507233] Re: NVIDIA - Xorg crashes (empty backtrace) with segfault OR general protection in ld-2.10.1.so
I was doing a bit more research before a reinstall. ld-2.10.1.so is provided by libc6, for what it's worth. I think I'll try a dist-upgrade first. Maybe something got solved between Karmic and Lucid, and it could be in the Alpha. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Nvidia binary driver version 185 on a GTX260M. [Bug 438536] Re: Notifications should show up closer to top right
I don't know about anyone else, but I've resorted to just using notification-daemon again. I can't stand notify-osd. Even though using notification-daemon solves my problem, there is no reason why I should have to use it anyway. I liked the look of the new notifications. But I use Pidgin a lot, and notify-osd only shows one notification from a program at a time. If I could dismiss notifications, it wouldn't be a problem. However, I can't. The developers want the notifications to be passive and ephemeral, but they have to realize that some notifications are not meant to be passive. We are also being repeatedly told that notifications are going to support varied times, but it's been a year since notify-osd was first introduced, and this feature still hasn't been implemented. [Bug 433928] Re: gdm-binary[2671]: WARNING: Unable to find users: no seat-id found
I can confirm that I have the same bug. Dbus is running. I have tried reconfiguring consolekit, policykit, xorg, and gdm. They have done nothing. Booting with rw also did nothing. My computer is fully up to date. I don't, however, have the /proc/1043/environ warning that dino99 had. I don't think this was mentioned, but instead of starting gdm, a black screen appears. I can't switch VT's from this, so the only way to get a shell is in recovery mode. Another thing to note is that starting X directly from a shell in recovery mode results in the same black screen. I recently installed a custom kernel, and on that custom kernel, the brightness level showed up correctly. [Bug 329236] [NEW] [Jaunty] Alsa PulseAudio integration crashes Firefox flashplayer
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libasound2-plugins Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 Kernel: 2.6.28-7-generic libasound2-plugins version: 1.0.18-1ubuntu3 pulsaudio version: 0.9.14-0ubuntu4: 10.0.15.3ubuntu3 firefox version: 3.0.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 Firefox crashes on all attempts to use Flash Player, including YouTube and most Flash Games (www.kongregate.com). The page is generally displayed for about 5 seconds on average, occasionally with a little of the audio beginning. The audio in this case is very choppy, with a lot of background noise. The audio will not play for more than half a second before Firefox crashes. Firefox crashes with terminal output: ALSA lib pcm_pulse.c:626:(pulse_prepare) PulseAudio: Unable to create stream: Invalid argument (repeated about 10 times) E: shm.c: mmap() failed: Cannot allocate memory (repeated about 30 times) firefox: pulse.c:200: pulse_new: Assertion `p-context' failed. Aborted (core dumped) All the text appears in the half-second when the audio occasionally plays. It appears even when the audio does not start. ** Affects: alsa-plugins (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Jaunty] Alsa PulseAudio integration crashes Firefox flashplayer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/329236 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
