[Bug 1726159] Re: PCIe BUS Error causing really slow laptop performance
I face the same issue on my HP ProBook 440 G4. And my laptop has the same crappy RTL8723BE WiFi chip. But the PCIe Bus Error and Wifi problems you might be facing are separate issues. The PCI bus errors can be cured by adding pci=noaer to the kernel args as mentioned by many users in the thread above. AER spams this error so much that it overwhelms your disk and so logging in becomes near impossible. Easiest option for you would be adding this kernel arg when you hit grub during boot. If you have Wifi signal issues on Linux then that's due to a quirk with this 8723 chip. Don't want to sidetrack this bug thread so I'll just ask you to search for the "RTL8723BE ant_sel" fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1726159 Title: PCIe BUS Error causing really slow laptop performance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1726159/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 607004] [NEW] no alsa sound on 2.6.35-8
Public bug reported: After the recent kernel upgrade to 2.6.35-8 ALSA sound has completely been dropped. None of the ALSA modules are anywhere in /lib/2.6.35-8. /proc/asound doesn't exist and dmesg doesn't show any ALSA related messages. I reinstalled all relevant packages but nothing changed. Tried to recompile the ALSA modules from scratch but got some compile errors. This has been working flawlessly with 2.6.35-7 and before. GNU/Linux isn't confusing, because it is already used in Ubuntu documentations and the term explained in about-ubuntu. [Bug 341377] Re: Confusing on the kernel Linux and whole system GNU/Linux in basic-commands
Bash is a part of GNU project and it isn't the correct alternative always. In number one, the whole operating system is case sensitive, not only Bash (filenames, most of programming language, and so on). In number two, you can see clearly that the whole system is meant so as in number three and four. We don't have to 'explain' the GNU/Linux story, we shall only name it correctly when we mean the entire operating system. Anyways, I think the issue is simple enough. Replacing the few terms will mention the operating system correctly and will cause no problems, as we always do in Ubuntu Documentation. -- Confusing on the kernel Linux and whole system GNU/Linux in basic-commands https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341377 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 341377] [NEW] Confusing on the kernel Linux and whole system GNU/Linux in basic-commands
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs In basic-commands document, there must be a clear difference between GNU/Linux, the whole system (or we can just call it 'Ubuntu') and the kernel Linux. These messages must be change as they aren't talking about the kernel itself: 1. emphasis role=\strong\Note that Linux is case sensitive./emphasis User, user, and USER are all different to Linux. 2. Every command and nearly every application in Linux will have a man (manual) file, so finding them is as simple as typing commandman command/command to bring up a longer manual entry for the specified command. For example, screenman mv/screen will bring up the commandmv/command (move) manual. 3. screenman intro/screen is especially useful - it displays the \Introduction to user commands\ which is a well-written, fairly brief introduction to the Linux command line. 4. [Bug 341377] Re: Confusing on the kernel Linux and whole system GNU/Linux in basic-commands
I would agree with you if Bash isn't a GNU software. Here, we don't explain the 'kernel' *at all*, we explain the GNU shell tool which has no relative to the 'kernel'. I think you can also use the Bash package under any UNIX-like operating system, e.g. BSD. which means it has nothing to do with the kernel. In the Glossary of Windows Terms section, there is: Log Off To close all your programs and leave the computer ready for someone else to log in, choose System ▸ Quit..., then Log Out. in fact, there is no 'Quit' dialog anymore, a user can directly logout by choosing 'System ▸ Logout xxx...', where xxx is the user name. Same issue with 'Standby' in the same section, there is: 'Standby To put your computer into a power-saving mode until you resume using it, choose System ▸ Quit..., then Suspend or Hibernate. (Hibernate requires no power at all, but is slower, and is not available on some types of computer.) it must be 'System ▸ Shutdown...'. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 'Logout' and 'Standby' described wrongly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
