[Bug 1263389] Re: make xkiosk is aborted with return code 127

2013-12-22 Thread Patrick Frank
Thanks a lot for caring about this bug, Jörg.

I made a test on Debian 7 where debirf is also used in version 0.33 and
the problem there is a dependency conflict after the xserver package is
setup.

But as you mentioned in your comment. After your fix the problem is the
following:

Setting up gnupg (1.4.14-1ubuntu2.1) ...
initctl: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the
reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

The error occurs on "yum update" aswell as "yum
--installroot=/opt/redhat groupinstall base" as the last command was
what I actually need the whole yum magic for.

[Bug 1079801] Re: Second Life & Google Earth do not load for the intel "sandy bridge" gfx chip

2013-01-06 Thread Patrick Frank
You load youtube and before it finishes the browser freezes. Then you
type something into the search bar and the browser freezes again. You
visit other websites with javascript interaction and the browser
freezes. This happens also when you click the "star" symbol in the
browser to bookmark or when you try to switch tabs.

But this is not a browser problem!! The behaviour changed with the
"dist-upgrade" when new mesa and compiz packages arrived. I made sure
there really was no code change of the browser.

Additionally, the screen snapshotting tool crashed during the file save
option when I had the spotify client launched.

All in all totally unacceptable for updates to break my system like
this.

Sad that I can not just switch operating systems like people advise me

2013-01-05 Thread Patrick Frank
The graphics driver for the Intel Integrated Graphics Chip seems to have more
issues:
Since the dist-upgrade of today my applications freeze when they try to open
images (screenshot e.g.) or when I browse the web (Youtube, etc.) but also when
I enter text in search boxes.

And for a weird reason the bug tracker will not allow me to open new
bugs.

Ubuntu 12.10 and 13.04 are affected but not 12.04 - there at least the
Second Life viewers are working. Just not Googl Earth.

[Bug 977126] Re: debootstrap is unable to install debian lenny

2012-11-16 Thread Patrick Frank
The problem is simple: Debian moves their releases when they are old to
http://archive.debian.org/ and that is where you need to point your
debootstrap to.

debootstrap <...> lenny /root/lenny http://archive.debian.org/debian

[Bug 929219] Re: chromium-browser crashed with SIGSEGV in __nscd_get_mapping()

2012-04-01 Thread Patrick Frank
Sorry folks, but ... in my case it was a weird Rhythmbox behaviour. And
I fail to parse the full activity log manually (as human) to make sure
this has not already been reported. But I do hope we can find out soon
what the actual PROBLEM with all this massive code is. I am so excited
with the look & feel so far. Lets keep going :o)
