[Bug 1761606] Re: Two Wi-Fi network applets appear after logging back into live-usb Lubuntu 18.04 session.
This happens too in Linux Mint MATE 19.3 (in my case 64bit) Stopping and starting the applet does not help but logging off and back on again soves this iommediately. It occurs since the change from the old separated applets to the "unified XApp Status Applet" combines the status of updates and network. Simulating it is hardly possible, it's more a gamble. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761606 Title: Two Wi-Fi network applets appear after logging back into live-usb Lubuntu 18.04 session. I have this problem too in Ubuntu Mate 18.04. I tried it with a persistent USB installed genuine Ubuntu 18.04 (64bit) and that too shows this problem. On 16.04 LTS the problem does not occur. I don't think so, however, I have yet to see any live distro that does what was quoted here. [Bug 1443853] Re: Ubuntu boot in Oracle VirtualBox ends up with a corrupted display
Interesting to notice: In Linux Mint MATE the "Live-ISO" understands the correct sequence Right-crtl-F7 for the desktop and Right-ctrl-F1 for the first terminal right away, where Ubuntu-MATE does not do so. Any Ctrl-F other than F1 gives a blank "terminal" with just a cursor and no login prompt at all. After installing Ubuntu-MATE this problem is gone and that too follows the correct sequence and shows the login on the available terminals. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443853 Title: Ubuntu boot in Oracle VirtualBox ends up with a corrupted display To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/virtualbox/+bug/1443853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It affects Ubuntu-MATE 16.04.1, both 32 and 64bit but it seems to be more Ubuntu and less MATE for in Mint MATE 18.1 (=16.04.1) this problem does not occur. At least I have never seen this in Mint. [Bug 1594959] Re: Untranslated titles shown in mate-control-center
Just created Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS on a Raspberry Pi: same problem occurs. I can add the Name[nl]= and Comment[nl]= lines to these files but the question remains: Why are they not updated during installation? It seems to me that these files are not touched at all during installation when looking at the file dates so they probably get downloaded or just partly downloaded during installation. If so, why are they not incorporating all these GenericName= Name= and Comments= lines if effort is done by translators on LaunchPad? Not only the Control Center is affected here but the drop-down menus too are partly untranslated. I did an update run on missing translations but that did not help. In a few cases the [nl] line was missing in the file but many others were there so maybe it's indeed a translation job too. [Bug 1594959] Re: Untranslated titles shown in mate-control-center
In Mint-Mate 18 (Sarah) this is still the case. Drop-down menus show Dutch and in the Control Center it is partly not translated. I edited all .desktop files concerned in /usr/share/applications for all but one that I could not find. Just a matter of search-and-find and then replace the text lines file by file. I don't know if these files are generated during installation or whether they are part of the general translation team. I could not find anything that points to translation pages on launchpad. [Bug 1417315] Re: gallery sounds (wav files) are not installed
I don't know if this has any connection to a bug filed in LibreOffice Bugzilla but when embedding audio files (even the shortest fragment) Impress hangs for 10 seconds and in fact the whole operating system. The culprit seems to be the libreoffice-avmedia-backend-gstreamer. Without the gstreamer backend installed Impress plays no sound at all from whatever type of file but as soon as the backend is installed you see 10 second freezes each time you try to access that particular slide. [Bug 537970] Re: Evince does not print images in some pdf files.
I can comment on this too, Evince prints a document partially, it is missing the extreme upper and lower parts on paper but not in the preview. In XPDF the whole document IS printed! So one can conclude that it is not the printer driver and not the printer, in my case a HP 8150, unless of course XPDF uses a different approach to print the document, whatever setting I try in the preview. The next weird thing is that Evince always prints an extra empty page, no matter what I try to set. In Evince, embedded photos show broken up in several parts with thin white lines in between them, this, however is not always the case so must depend on the original embedded material used. In XPDF that is not the case with the same material. Needless to say that Adobe's viewer is doing this right too. If this is a case of Evince 2.30.3 in Lucid, my question is: Why can't this be updated? I know...switch to Precise...but Precise has the problem of not willing to use my Epson V500 scanner and Lucid does... Hi Arek, To me it isn't. I have 0.10.6 in Lucid and tried it in Maverick as well but still I need the extra startup script telling that LC_NUMERIC=C and then launch Stellarium. I have tested that on several occasions, posted the config.ini's of both with and without the startup command, I use both an (I admit old RV280) ATI and a pretty new NVIDIA graphic adapter on two desktops and two laptops but no joy. I think anyone that does not know this will try Stellarium in Ubuntu, see that the scenery is not built and maybe simply switch it off or switch to Windows, for there I have never seen this error. In Maverick with the ATI card it even won't start at all. I have posted the error in another bug report. Sal, Did you actually create that options file in /etc/modprobe.d with the line suggested above? As you too use some interface between your PC and the mouse/keyboard, it must have a relation to the translation of the mouse signals in the converter. Don't you have a USB mouse that can be connected directly to a USB port and see it the problem persists? If I remove the options file and connect the PS/2 keyboard and the Logitech USB mouse directly to the PC, everything works fine. When I use the 2 port KVM, I have to use an adapter USB>PS/2 for the mouse. The KVM itself has only PS/2 cables. Omitting the file immediately recreates the problem, albeit only in Firefox. I use the KVM because I often need to host a PC to the other set of cables on the KVM and I do not want to disconnect end reconnect all the time. [Bug 446874] Re: xdg-open is still using sound-juicer for audio CDs
I have a similar weird thing. I have an icon on the desktop showing Audio-cd.volume I can look at the properties. It says Type: Unknown type (application/octet stream) Size: unknown Location: x-nautilus-desktop:/// Volume: Unknown Opened: unknown Changed: Unknown. Upon loading an audio-cd into the cd-drive (I have 2, one IDE, on SATA) all the desktop icons disappear and right clicking the desktop does not show the drop down menu. Trying to access the drive with the audio cd gives the error reported in this bug report. The drive remains locked, log off/ log on is insufficient, only a reboot unlocks the drive. On a second attempt the drive did open. I swapped the CD for a DVD. It shows the content and plays the video without error but still no desktop icons. After a log off/log on they reappeared showing the weird icon again but also the mounted DVD. -- xdg-open is still using sound-juicer for audio CDs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446874 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 447694] Re: stellarium crashed with SIGSEGV in radeonPolygonStipplePreKMS()
I have installed Karmic on an AMD64X2 (64bit) with an NVDIA 7600GS, using the NVDIA driver version 185.18.36. With this combination Stellarium and Google Earth work flawless. Without the driver Stellarium was by far to slow to be of any use (fps: 0.0001). On my HP Vectra D530 with an ATI 9200 video card both do not run. Clearly this is due to that combination. I have tried to install ATI drivers but no joy... On the same PC, using Jaunty both worked OK. I too think it has not really to do with Stellarium. On the D530 I cannot make any use of advanced visual effects, only the basic setting shows a wallpaper. That worked OK too in Jaunty. -- stellarium crashed with SIGSEGV in radeonPolygonStipplePreKMS() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447694 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 39860] Re: International Date/Time
>>he best solution for this would be for the setup program to automatically set LC_TIME for the country you select you live in during setup. At least i suspect that will make more people happy "by default". I want simply to be able to set the format to ISO 8601 ie. .mm.dd hh:mm:ss in Ubuntu. Why can this be so simple to be done in Uncle Bill's OS and not here? Is there really no one out there that can write a simple script to adjust it? I just reated on the same issue that exists in Evolution. There it seems to be a hard coded issue. IMHO hard coding these things is simply not done. I wish I have the knowlegde to create this but unfortunately I don't. So, PLEASE, developers, create something that deals with this, without, for end users, having to change all sorts of code that may mess up a configuration. Thanks!! [Bug 368864] [NEW] Add/remove programs dialog shows English items for a while already
Public bug reported: When running the Live CD as customized Dutch version or the Live DVD using the choice "Nederlands" most dialogs show the Dutch language. But when choosing add/remove programs, the categories are still listed in English. I am sure these items have been properly translated for I have versions that use the correct language from former upgrades. New installs and live sessions do not, so the installer must pick the wrong file, I suppose. See my screenshot for an example. [Bug 162790] Re: mouse scroll wheel rolled up/back causes context menu to appear
I too experience this with a Sybex Switchview 2port KVM (PS/2) in Jaunty. Seems to be only in Firefox, not in Epiphany or in other app's. The 'sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse rate=100 proto=imps' does help when issued in the terminal. Where should I put this line so it will be executed at startup? The suggestions done before seem not to exist in Jaunty. I tried to add it in System > Preferences > Startup as a command line but then it won't execute. Re: [Bug 42109] Re: LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen
Hi Przemysław, Learning still... I am cuurently downloading it. However not everyone has the ability to boot the PC from a DVD. Therefore, in order to demonstrate I need a CD that simply starts in Dutch but that is what I now have created with the UCK package. Thanks for pointing this out to me. [Bug 42109] Re: LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen
Created the ISO, works flawlessly. Mind you: If only one language is chosen, that language shows up in the menu. You have the ability to pick more. I tried Dutch and Esperanto and those two remained under the F2 key. Started the Live CD in Dutch and all dialogues were Dutch, except: Add/Remove programs is in Dutch but the listed items were "Alles" (Dutch) but then again "Accessories","Education","Games","Graphics","Internet","Office","Other","Programming","Sound and Video","System Tools","Universal Access" all still remained in English. This, again, is the bug I have reported before. Despite that the language chosen is correct, this menu item persistently produces English. Applications I have tested so far (Office, some games, some utilities, Firefox and Evolution were all in Dutch as is a large part of the helpfile. -- LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42109 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 42109] Re: LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen
But I did a search... found out that there is a package called UCK and that with it, a customised version can be created in any supported language. Of course I will build a Dutch one, test it and use it on the occasions that I have to proof that Ubuntu is fun to use and works in our native language! Unfortunately I do not have facilities to offer an ISO for download but I will report the outcome. [Bug 42109] Re: LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen
Well, even in 9.04 "Jaunty" it still is the case. I know that in the past, the interfaces were in Dutch. If I installed for example 8.04 and 8.10 part of the interface was still English, for example the add/remove programs. I reported that as a bug. I also have upgraded one installation from 7.04 onward. Then the particular menu was and stayed Dutch. From now on demonstrating, I will only use an installed version that shows my native language and not the live CD for I know that many more people than the average nerd will think possible, is afraid of using English. Apart from that I think that many experienced users (specifically IT people) tend to stick to English "As that is understood by everybody" Well I am an IT'er, I work all day with English software, I do understand the English version perfectly well and my Dutch colleagues disagree for they all use Linux in English, still I prefer to use all software at home in Dutch. If this calls for localised ISO's, so be it. If they do exist on specific mirrors, please point to them so that demonstration CD's can be created in the preferred native language. -- LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42109 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 45852] Re: Default Ubuntu desktop can't play midi files (not Kubuntu)
Well, looking for a solution to, at least, play midifiles in Ubuntu, I have installed Audacious and installed the package audacious-plugins-extra with synaptic.
