[Bug 2065947] [NEW] DMZ-White theme shows gray square in place of curson on Ubuntu 24.04

2024-05-16 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Public bug reported:

From https://askubuntu.com/q/1411558:

"Just installed Ubuntu server 22.04 and as I needed a DE, followed some
tutorials where most of them suggested that I can install gnome (or
ubuntu-desktop) using the tasksel command.

After doing so I encountered two problems: the mouse pointer on desktop
is showing as a solid gray square ⬛ and the hotspot is at upper left
corner. However when I run any gui app the pointer is drawn perfectly
fine.

How can I fix this issues?"

And the top answer, indicating it's happening more for 24.04:

"

I faced the same problem on Ubuntu 24.04 beta, on GNOME / Ubuntu
desktops, using my preferred cursor theme DMZ-White. When the mouse is
over the top bar or the dock/launcher (whatever it's called), the mouse
pointer is a light gray (almost white) square.

It seems to me that the icon theme is missing the default file. For me
this solution worked:

Check which cursor theme you're using. Start gnome-tweaks and go to
Appearance -> Styles -> Cursor.

In a terminal, navigate to its directory under /usr/share/icons and then
the cursors subdirectory underneath, e.g.

cd /usr/share/icons/DMZ-White/cursors/

(The cursor theme's name may not directly map to the filesystem
directory name, use common sense to find it.)

Then create the missing symbolic link (or copy the file):

sudo ln -s left_ptr default

Then switch to a different cursor theme in gnome-tweaks and back to this
one, for the change to take effect. Or log out and log back in."

I can confirm that I am also affected by this bug, and the suggested
workaround appears to fix the issue.

[Bug 1084403] Re: git: no support for gpgsig tags

2024-03-01 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
It seems Launchpad code import is still using bzr/bzr-git (Python 2
based, and unmaintained as far as I can tell) rather than brz (which has
the fix for this issue). What are the plans (if any) to update the
Launchpad importer to use brz?

[Bug 1867071] Re: Raspberry Pi uses old, non-upstream DTB naming (bcm2710 instead of bcm283*)

2022-05-31 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Yes, I am running the generic arm64 kernel on the Pi. (It runs just
fine when renaming/copying the DTBs.) I should note that this naming
scheme is not used by the official Raspberry Pi OS (Raspbian) anymore
either after the relevant device trees were merged into upstream Linux,
leaving Ubuntu as one of the few (if not only) hold-outs of the old
naming scheme.

[Bug 1697122]

2020-07-28 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
I am unable to reproduce using the steps in
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=750994#c0 with my laptop's
touchpad, tested on Gnome Shell 3.36 (Ubuntu 20.04). I tried the same
steps with FF and also can not reproduce it there. I suspect the bug
was mitigated/had its impact lessened (perhaps unintentionally) in Gnome
at some point, which then left the issue for KDE users (as per most of
the comments in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182700).

[Bug 1697122]

2020-07-28 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Is there any possibility of enabling this soon? Out-of-the-box Firefox
is unusable with touchscreens, and as touchscreens become more common
(e.g. I just upgraded my laptop to one that has a touchscreen), having
this enabled quickly becomes quite important for a large number of
users. Also, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182700 was
just fixed in Kwin, and AFAIK that was the last blocker of this bug.

Also, AFAIK, Fedora enables MOZ_USE_XINPUT2 by default for these
reasons, so apparently it's not too buggy :P

[Bug 1867071] [NEW] Raspberry Pi uses old, non-upstream DTB naming (bcm2710 instead of bcm283*)

2020-03-11 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Public bug reported:

The upstream Debian package is correct, but the Ubuntu version of the
package, even in Focal, uses the old bcm2710-* naming, which is a
holdover from the days before upstream RPi support was put merged into
mainline Linux. This causes errors when using U-Boot as a uEFI
implementation and the stock arm64 Ubuntu image with the stock arm64
Ubuntu kernel, as every kernel upgrade, flash-kernel is looking for the
wrong file name. (Side note, the RPi 4 does use bcm2711-rpi-4-b.dtb in
the upstream kernel, but every other Pi is using bcm2835 - bcm2837).

[Bug 1591564] Re: Please make an SRU for the for the winetricks package to 0.0+20160425-1ubuntu1 (universe)

2016-10-07 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
** Description changed:

Please make an SRU for the for the winetricks package to
  0.0+20160425-1ubuntu1 (universe)

  Reason for the SRU:

The winetricks version in Xenial is very old and very broken.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ 1. Install the winetricks package
+ 2. Run "winetricks allfonts"
+ 3. Watch it fail. :(
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ None that I can think of, the current version is practically useless.

I deleted the whole repo before re-import, so that should not be the
problem.

checked ~/.bazzar/, but there was nothing cache-related there.

2016-06-14 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
I made this patch: http://jacobspctuneup.tk/bzr-git%20patches/patchtry1.txt
It looks good, but nothing actually appears in the terminal or "~/.bzr.log".
Maybe it only shows up if there is an error?

[Bug 1084403] Re: no support for gpgsig tags

2016-06-13 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Also, the code change will defiantly not make anything worse, and might
make things better, so it would make sense to merge it as a temporary
fix... And, I tested the first section of the diff
(https://i264933589.restricted.launchpadlibrarian.net/264933589/8e33a154-3111-11e6-9da8-002481e91f22.txt?token=17TdjWddN9v0cBJKTTTsGgMmsb8NjTg8)
and it worked for branching SuperTuxKart
(https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-code.git).

I saw comment #8, but it does not seem like ignoring gpgsig tags should
break deltas, as the code changes in the commits are the same...

Just found this patched version:

Could this get merged please? This bug breaks SuperTuxKart daily builds, see

[Bug 1559577] [NEW] Graphics Weirdness

2016-03-19 Thread Qwerty Chouskie
Public bug reported:

Sometimes, after resuming from suspend my screen looks weird (see
attachment). Also, TTYs do not show anything, though I can blindly log
in and restart X by running "sudo service lightdm restart". Also, may
not be related, but after restarting X and running ubuntu-bug, the
browser window that appeared to report the bug disappeared and "Vector
smash protection is enabled." appeared in the terminal. (I had not yet
rebooted at that point.)
