Re: [Bug 1817234] Re: Bug in "python3-ebooklib" that was fixed upstream years ago but package is outdated
With all due respect, this kind of response is ridiculous. Don't take this personally, I'm talking about the situation, not your reply. I'm using Ubuntu, not Debian, so I report a problem in Ubuntu, not in Debian, and whatever steps Ubuntu need to take to resolve the problem should be handled by Ubuntu itself. Asking an user to go somewhere else for help with a problem in Ubuntu gives a VERY VERY BAD IMPRESSION. If I where an average user who took the time to learn how and where to report a problem, just to be told "go somewhere else, figure out how they do things, register in their web so you can report and leave us alone", I'd just stop using Ubuntu all together. If I used Debian, Arch, Fedora, SuSe or any other distribution, I wouldn't be reporting a problem TO Ubuntu, but just so happens that I'm an user of Ubuntu, and here is my report. I refuse to go somewhere else. Back on topic about the python3-ebooklib package, Ubuntu can choose not to distribute an unmaintained package if that's the best option they have, but distributing an OLD, OUTDATED and BUGGY package is plain wrong. [Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()
After five days and a half running with valgrind without a problem, I stopped it, rebooted the system and started it normally. Then, on first access it failed again. In the attached screenshot it's visible that the web interface is loaded without the transfer list (there should be at least 3 torrent's running), the browser is redirected to http://server/transmission/web/#cancel; and then shows a Connection failed message. Both Dismiss and Details buttons aren't usefull, when one of them is pressed the browser pops a dialog saying it couldn't connect to the server. Trying to reload the page doesn't help, since the daemon isn't running any more. Is there anything else I can try? ** Attachment added: Connection failure screenshot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/683906/+attachment/1799861/+files/Transmission%20Web%20Interface%20Fail.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/683906 Title: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc() -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()
I'ts been running with valgrind for a day and a half without crashing (still running). While this test runs, I'm testing another pc without, with same distribution, version, configuration and torrents, and it crashed 2 times. Both crashes happened while trying to connect to the web interface from a remote host. In the first one, the browser showed transmission web interface, without the torrents list, and a popup saying the server stopped responding. For the second one, I checked that transmission was running, then tried to connect and the browser couldn't get a response from the server, checked again and transmission had crashed. I've tried connecting and reconnecting a lot to the one running with valgrind without problems. The pc where I run it usually, and where valgrind is used, isn't very fast, and with valgrind it's over 80% cpu usage most of the time and becomes very slow sometimes, so I've been thinking it can be related to a timer somewhere (perhaps in the remote management) that being so slow doesn't trigger the crash. May this be possible? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/683906 Title: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc() -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 683906] Re: transmission-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()
I'll try to get a valgrind log, but it may take some time (I have nothing to download right now). Since you ask for suggestions, I think transmission-daemon should log it's activities, like most services do. Whenever I have a problem with a service, my first step to fix it is to look at /var/log/servicename.log, but in this case there is nothing to see. Does it fail on completion? Is it on data verification? Or maybe it fails while I try to log on (web)? If there were a log, at least we could see what was the last thing that worked before the fail. Maybe even log some info about the fail.

[Bug 219671] [NEW] amuled stop responding without crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amule Description:Ubuntu 8.04 Release:8.04 amule-daemon: 2.2.0~svn20080218-0ubuntu3 Once a download is completed, amule-daemon stops responding without crashing. A running and connected amulegui stops working, new amulegui can't connect. The only way to recover the daemon is killing it. Running amule-daemon inside gdb to try and get a backtrace, makes it to not fail on every download, but on the long run it happens too. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity Hardy Heron fully updated. Metacity 2.21.5-0ubuntu1 Problem: when compositor enabled, panel drawers doesn't open for a second time. [Bug 183663] Re: kvm installation and uninstallation failure
It's perfectly reasonable for kvm not not get properly configured (and thus be marked as installed) if you don't have the proper hardware extensions. You will not be able to use kvm. For me, the only thing I can do is uninstall, and with the new release it works now, thanks for fixing that. I'm going to make a suggestion for you to consider and see whether it is possible or desirable: The problem is that some of us HAVE support for svm extensions on out systems, but bios disables it so support is there but can't be used. When the installation script tries to load the modules, it fails and configurations fails, leaving an unconfigured package without a hint of what the problem is. The installation script may be modified so it checks for virtualization support and do: 1.-If there is no support (egrep ‘^flags.*(vmx|svm)’ /proc/cpuinfo), a message tell the user that the package can't work on that machine and stops the installation without trying to load the module. 2.-If there is support, tries to load the module and if it fails, show a message telling the user to check the bios for options to enable virtualization. Not all bioses have that option, and in some cases a bios upgrade is needed, but I think that this can help some users -- kvm installation and uninstallation failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 124941] Re: [gutsy] System crash on kvm-amd load
It seems that my problem is bios related. Newer kvm releases tell that svm instructions are disabled by bios and doesn't crash.
