[Bug 1990886] Re: Security updates missing after 91.11.0

2022-11-01 Thread Ras
It's starting all over again.

Security issues fixed in 102.3.1, released Sep-28:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2022-43/
Security issues fixed in 102.4, released Oct-18:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2022-46/

Meanwhile, Olivier started working on 102.3.1 about a full month ago. At
some point in the pipeline, the progress just stalls. The overall
process seems to be too convoluted for a single maintainer to cope with.

Note that I already tried removing the additional clevo_xsm_wmi kernel module
for the RGB keyboard, but that doesn't change the problem.
Also, the following error messages are there for both 5.11 and 5.13:

I have even worse problems with an AMD 4700U machine (iGPU only) that
just crashes into B/W screen noise at booting. HWE kernel series 5.8 and
5.11 work perfectly fine, but I see this massive regression with 5.13.

Markus Laire,
Yes, the bug is exploitable even with full disk encryption. Among other things,
if there's an open instant messaging app, an attacker can send a message which
would appear as if it was sent by the authenticated user.

[Bug 1504744] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-91-generic "end trace" boot failure

2015-11-08 Thread RAS
Hi Christopher,

Tried several options in the timeslot I had at that pc yesterday, sadly
without any success to update the bios at the moment.

In a few weeks time I hope to be back at that machine and will try wine,
but as it is not the ideal way forward I would need a backup solution if
it damages the bios.

The pc is never in heavy processing involved, but it is many hours per
week powered-on and on-line. Any suggestion for a new stable platform
where I could put in the IDE-harddisk and it keeps working? Naturally
one of the next steps will be to update the hard-disk to an sata one,
but usually I'm on limited time to work on that pc. Therefore I need to
be able to work it in stages.

Many thanks in advance!

2015-10-24 Thread RAS
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected running-unity

** Description changed:

  Hi All,

On this computer we recently updated to the 3.2.0-91-generic version,
but it failed to start with a list of errors. Always ending in something
  with "end trace".

  The computer uses:
  -- Description: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
  -- Release: 12.04

Depending on the devices and network cables the errors changed, but
  always failed to properly boot.

Also we are not able to change the bootoptions of grub, because when
pressing keyboard keys no responses where captured by the grub software.
The only keys pressed that where processed by grub where just before the
load of the grub bootoption screen.

  Work around:
-- use Ubuntu boot cd/dvd and fire up a temp Ubuntu environment
-- remove 3.2.0-91-generic components from boot folder
-- copy previous version (in my case 3.2.0-90-generic) of the components to a
3.2.0-91-generic naming and Ubuntu starts up again fine

- Hope you can fix it soon, because more people are likely to get stuck!
- And may have not my inside knowledge

[Bug 1442605] Re: first print wrong others fine

2015-04-26 Thread RAS
HI Pascal,

Thanks, at the moment is seems to work better than the older version at
the first print. All text is fine and correct size.

However, the colors are off by miles at the first print. Green turns
black for example.

After reprinting the page, the colors are correct.

It seems that still the first page with the ip 4850 is a bit of a
struggle.

Any suggestion?
