[Bug 1643115] [NEW] Konsole does not retain config customisations across sessions

2016-11-18 Thread Rob Fargher
Public bug reported:

Release: Kubuntu 16,10
Package version:konsole: Installed: 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu1

Expected behaviour: Editing the default profile for konsole to change
the background colour and font works for the duration of the current
session. I expected that these config changes would be persistant
across re-booting.

Actual behaviour: Upon re-booting, konsole has reverted to the default
settings.

Upon a fresh install of 16.10 today and editing the konsole profile yet
again, I finally got a pop-up window telling me that
$HOME/.local/share/applicatins/desktop/ cannot be written to. That's
because $HOME/.local/share/applications/ doesn't exist. Creating that
directory fixed the issue.

[Bug 548886] [NEW] KDE won't start with fglrx drivers in Lucid

2010-03-26 Thread Rob Fargher
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)

GNOME works properly. KDE works with installed (vesa?) driver.

never solidify as they normally do.

[Bug 280352] [NEW] Keystrokes not accepted in Kubuntu Intrepid beta

2008-10-08 Thread Rob Fargher
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu AMD64 Intrepid Beta 1 is installed and boots fine.

The keyboard works in a virtual terminal and in X, keystrokes are
accepted for CTL-ALT-Backspace and CTL-ALT-F1. But KDE apps are
refractory to keystrokes. Neither KDEsu nor Konsole accept keystrokes
when they have the focus. There is no reponse to a key press in those
apps; I have not tried other apps. Keystrokes are accepted by KDM,
though.

Keyboard is a Logitech wireless USB Model Y-RAJ56A, connected via an
IOGEAR USB KVM (which, as you can read this, obviously works fine in
Hardy).

[Bug 208381] Re: Unable to share printers in Kubuntu Hardy beta

2008-03-28 Thread Rob Fargher
Jonathan, as a user that would be fine if the KDE Printing Manager
launched system-config-printer-kde when trying to share a printer. It
would keep backward capability for familiarity. You could even throw up
a message window, stating the deprecation and that system-config-
printer-kde will now be started.

I doubt most users will care how it's done, only that it's done
logically easily. Print Manager is the logical place, to me, to do
*all* printer administration.

[Bug 56823] via82cxxx disables DMA on Asrock 775Dual-VSTA

2006-08-18 Thread Rob Fargher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6-686

This is a feature request.

Some mainboards (e.g. my Asrock 775Dual-VSTA) come with a
PCI_DEVICE_ID_VIA_82C586_1 IDE controller together with a VIA VT8237A
southbridge. While the corresponding PCI ID is already present in pci_ids.h,
the via82cxxx driver doesn't know about it yet and disables DMA.

There has been a kernel patch submitted for 2.6.18_rc4 at
http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0608.1/0771.html I'm
requesting that it be integrated into the Dapper kernel.
