[Bug 1706499] Re: NMI Watchdog Soft Lockup CPU Frozen for 22s
This is a fresh installation on a freshly built system, so I can't say if a prior kernel did/would've worked. I've reinstalled twice from different downloads, and via different media and have encountered the same issues. I installed Windows 10 as well, and encountered no issues with performance or stability over the week/week and a half I had it installed, so I don't think it's hardware. I'll install the upstream kernel and test again tonight. Thanks for helping. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706499 Title: NMI Watchdog Soft Lockup CPU Frozen for 22s To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1706499/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706499] [NEW] NMI Watchdog Soft Lockup CPU Frozen for 22s
Private bug reported: Whenever switching from high to low, or low to high CPU loads I encounter the attached lockup. This happens at least twice daily when the server is left alone, more often when it actually does anything. The CPU# changes with each crash, but seems to always be for 22s. ul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183560] [ cut here ] Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183569] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 0 at /build/linux-Fsa3B1/linux-4.10.0/net/sched/sch_generic.c:316 dev_watchdog+0x22c/0x230 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183571] NETDEV WATCHDOG: enp37s0 (r8169): transmit queue 0 timed out Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183572] Modules linked in: binfmt_misc nls_iso8859_1 joydev input_leds snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_hda_codec_realtek eeepc_wmi snd_hda_codec_generic asus_wmi snd_hda_intel snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core snd_hwdep snd_pcm snd_timer snd soundcore sparse_keymap ccp edac_mce_amd edac_core shpchp i2c_piix4 kvm irqbypass i2c_designware_platform i2c_designware_core 8250_dw mac_hid ib_iser rdma_cm iw_cm ib_cm ib_core configfs iscsi_tcp libiscsi_tcp libiscsi scsi_transport_iscsi ip_tables x_tables autofs4 btrfs raid10 raid456 async_raid6_recov async_memcpy async_pq async_xor async_tx xor raid6_pq libcrc32c raid1 raid0 multipath linear hid_generic usbhid hid nouveau crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel pcbc mxm_wmi video i2c_algo_bit ttm drm_kms_helper aesni_intel syscopyarea aes_x86_64 sysfillrect Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183610] crypto_simd sysimgblt glue_helper fb_sys_fops cryptd drm r8169 mii ahci libahci wmi gpio_amdpt fjes gpio_generic Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183619] CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/0 Tainted: G L 4.10.0-28-generic #32-Ubuntu Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183620] Hardware name: System manufacturer System Product Name/PRIME B350M-A, BIOS 0805 06/20/2017 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183621] Call Trace: Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183623] Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183627] dump_stack+0x63/0x81 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183629] __warn+0xcb/0xf0 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183631] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x5f/0x80 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183634] dev_watchdog+0x22c/0x230 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183637] ? qdisc_rcu_free+0x50/0x50 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183639] call_timer_fn+0x35/0x140 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183641] run_timer_softirq+0x215/0x4b0 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183643] ? ktime_get+0x41/0xb0 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183646] ? lapic_next_event+0x1d/0x30 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183648] ? clockevents_program_event+0x7f/0x120 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183651] __do_softirq+0x104/0x2af Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183654] irq_exit+0xb6/0xc0 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183656] smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x3d/0x50 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183659] apic_timer_interrupt+0x89/0x90 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183661] RIP: 0010:native_safe_halt+0x6/0x10 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183662] RSP: 0018:bec03de0 EFLAGS: 0246 ORIG_RAX: ff10 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183665] RAX: RBX: bec10500 RCX: Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183666] RDX: RSI: RDI: Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183667] RBP: bec03de0 R08: 0100 R09: 1e001b9b5d00 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183668] R10: 0001007cafbd R11: R12: Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183668] R13: bec10500 R14: R15: Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183670] Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183673] default_idle+0x20/0xd0 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183675] arch_cpu_idle+0xf/0x20 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183677] default_idle_call+0x23/0x30 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183679] do_idle+0x16f/0x200 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183682] cpu_startup_entry+0x71/0x80 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183684] rest_init+0x77/0x80 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183688] start_kernel+0x464/0x485 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183690] ? early_idt_handler_array+0x120/0x120 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183692] x86_64_start_reservations+0x24/0x26 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183694] x86_64_start_kernel+0x14d/0x170 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel: [32989.183697] start_cpu+0x14/0x14 Jul 25 08:01:59 necronomicon kernel:

I believe I may still be encountering this bug, this seems to happen any time the system is under significant load. Attached is my kern.log from right after the NMI watchdog soft lockups start. Please let me know if I should submit additional logs from the next time this happens, or submit a new bug. ** Attachment added: "kern.log snippet" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1674838/+attachment/4913087/+files/kernlog.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1674838 Title: kernel BUG at /build/linux- 7LGLH_/linux-4.10.0/include/linux/swapops.h:129 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1674838/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
