Upstream Kernel tested, although i had different illumination now, the colors seemed to be a little better, but when i turned on mi desk lamp it's like the camera driver cannot handle color saturation and overexposure. [Bug 953248] Re: cannot click on links in html messages, mouse toogles select mode in Evolution
A screenshot of the bug, in the mail you see that some text appears to be selected, in fact the only thing i did was clicking on the ACTIVATE button inside this example email after clicking in activate button, no browser is launched but the above text is selected somehow. I just wanted to give a more clear picture of the bug. Another fact: The browser with the link is not launched the first click, BUT making a double click it launches the browser. This is affecting all HTML messages, not plain text links. [Bug 936946] Re: System freezed
actually, i didn't do anything by myself. so, i don't know how to reproduce the failure. the system was nearly idle while i was away from the computer. running applications: KDE 4.7, Thunderbird, Firefox. I locked the screen and went away. coming back after ~40 minutes, the screen was in standby mode (as expected) but the system itself did not respond any longer. i had to do a hard reset (pressing off btn some secs - turn on again). there are no auto standby settings active. expected behavior: the system should not hang? If this is the same problem I had, I have a fix. My old pc cannot boot from USB. I put kernel and initrd on a spare hard disk partition, and the root filesystem.squashfs on the usb stick /dev/sdb1. This works with boot option: live-media=/dev/sdb1. This boot option is documented in: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/karmic/man7/casper7.html , but ubuntu 11.10 does not support it. [Bug 932219] [NEW] Launching Expo is broken if Blender3D is running under compiz (until the system is restarted)
Public bug reported: If I enter expo mode (or switch virtual Desktops) with Blender3D running, compiz becomes unusable. I have not tried with any other 3D programs, or with the Cube. It remains unusable until I quit blender and start compiz again - but entering expo (even after blender is closed and compiz restarted) causes the same problem until the system is restarted. [Bug 528432] Re: [gm45] X crashes and restarts with *ERROR* Failed to pin buffer 4 of 17
I was getting this error in dmesg too on my Lenovo ThinkPad SL510, with linux-image-2.6.32-38-generic_2.6.32-38.83. However, i915_error_state and Xorg.0.log were both free of error messages, although X crashed restarted. When I tried to debug the X server, gdb said that the program exited with code 1. [Bug 720446] Re: memory leak in compiz when using places, dashboard, and exposing launcher icons with multiple quicklists
The bad thing about this isn't necessarily that compiz leaks memory, but you can basically watch your desktop getting slower and slower. If I reboot Ubuntu/Unity after a week, this feels like a new machine for me. The next day compiz seems to iterate over more objects than it needs to already. This gets worse every day. First I thought the lagginess is due to swapping activity, but it isn't. This is pure userspace CPU load by compiz, slowing down all activities regarding the desktop and its windowing. If you keep your actions within a window, everything is fine. I guess we should create a new bug regarding this, .. it doesn't look like this is being reopened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/720446 Title: memory leak in compiz when using places, dashboard, and exposing launcher icons with multiple quicklists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-multiload/+bug/720446/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 912387] Re: Intel graphics stack regression (oneiric-precise) with external displayport monitor
So xdiagnose doesn't work for me (I seem to hit bug #903484) but I added drm.debug=0xe to my kernel command line by hand, and got the following output. This is not exactly the scenario described above -- I actually booted up at home away from my dock, suspended the laptop, came to work, and resumed in the dock. I had exactly the same situation that my external monitor wouldn't light up though, and I went through my (now-standard) workaround dance of: - log into text kernel and do xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto to turn on the laptop screen - light up the DP monitor at 1024x768 - switch the DP monitor to 2560x1440 at the same time as I turn off the laptop screen and I now have my X session working at native resolution on my external monitor. ** Attachment added: drm-dmesg.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/912387/+attachment/2660166/+files/drm-dmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912387 Title: Intel graphics stack regression (oneiric-precise) with external displayport monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/912387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Actually the code in question is if self.__disable_pat: cmdline_default_params['nopat'] = None else: del cmdline_default_params['nopat'] and presumably __disable_pat is not set and cmdline_default_params doesn't have a 'nopat' entry, so we're trying to delete an entry that doesn't exist? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903484 Title: xdiagnose crashed with KeyError in run(): 'nopat' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdiagnose/+bug/903484/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 912387] [NEW] Intel graphics stack regression (oneiric-precise) with external displayport monitor
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo t410s laptop (Arrandale graphics) that I use with a docking station that is connected to an external monitor via displayport. I just updated from Oneiric to the latest Precise daily, and I've seen big regressions using this setup. I went into the display control panel and set my monitors to be non-mirrored and set my DP monitor to its native (2560x1440) resolution. Now, after a cold reboot, the login screen comes up fine (in its bad fallback resolution -- this I think is a known lightdm issue, where a laptop+external monitor ends up with lightdm using some non-native resolution). But then when I log in, X tries to change the mode of the DP monitor to the correct one, and at that point the monitor just goes black. If I do alt-f1 I can get back to a text console, but alt-f7 just goes back to the black screen. I am able to open my laptop and bring up the LVDS1 output, but I have not been able to figure out how to light up the DP output. Oneiric was able to handle this pretty well -- if I booted docked, the external monitor was used at its native resolution, and if I booted undocked the internal LVDS was used at its native resolution. And even suspend/resume and docking/undocking usually worked. I see messages like: [ 382.963872] [drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to train DP, aborting in the kernel log, which are presumably related to the failure to light up the DP monitor. [Bug 912387] Re: Intel graphics stack regression (oneiric-precise) with external displayport monitor
OK, going into the display settings control panel and making sure the laptop LVDS is _off_ and the DP is at native resolution worked. But if I reboot there is a good chance the DP monitor won't come up and I'll have to go through the whole dance of going to the console, running DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto, using the laptop screen to run the monitor control panel, and transitioning back to using the DP monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912387 Title: Intel graphics stack regression (oneiric-precise) with external displayport monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/912387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 887677] Re: Possible Memory Leak using 3Finger with Ubuntu 11.10
Is it better if you compiz --replace ? I'm trying to drill down a similar problem that seems to happen with Ubuntu 11.10, Unity and Compiz. After some days of a working X session compiz is growing and hogging more and more memory/cpu. There is a leak somewhere. I have several apps open all the time (VMware player, Firefox, Opera, Gnome Terminal, ...). $ ps aux | grep compiz roland2424 0.0 0.0 4264 388 ?Ss Nov08 0:00 /bin/sh -c /usr/bin/compiz-decorator roland 17026 10.3 9.1 1373904 745044 pts/0 Rl Nov14 575:40 compiz --replace As you can see, it is running for 10 days (used for 8 hours a day, it is my workstation) and already grow up to 750MB. Even if nothing happens at the desktop at all, it consumes 10% cpu time (Core2 Duo). This is getting worse with bigger uptimes. If I restart compiz like mentioned, the whole desktop instantly feels faster and more fluid (not because of the memory, I'm not swapping). [Bug 885559] [NEW] unity session crashed when browsing pictures in pendrive with Image Viewer
Public bug reported: plugged a pendrive and went through nautilus to folder where are JPEG and AVI files taken with a PentaxOptio 12MP. Double clicked in photo and opened with Image Viewer. started to browse pictures with next arrow button, and suddenly the whole session crashed and lightDM prompts again. Start session again and did the same steps... suddenly the session crashed. I suspect that the crash was when the Image Viewer reaches an AVI file, but i can't tell. Maybe ther eis something in the logs attached. [Bug 884528] [NEW] odd nautilus beahavior when browsing files by pressing letter keys
Public bug reported: Start nautilus and start browsing some files. The you may press, say the E key in the keyboard for nautilus go and select the first E file in the list. Then press another letter, and start writing a word, like EXPLORE because yo know there is a file called explorer.txt that you want to find. Now if you miss type a letter you cannot delete or correct using the BACKSPACE key because it will go back in folder level and put you in the previous level. If you want to correct the mistake and find your file, you must double click somewhere and start to write again. This nautilus feature is very useful and it is not working. [Bug 454220] Re: Nvidia fail with DKMS on linux-generic-pae - needs depends on -pae kernel header file package
This is still an issue. Since the default kernel was automatically changed to a -pae variant some time this year, every time the kernel is updated the matching -pae header is not updated along with it even though the installed proprietary nvidia driver's kernel module depends on it. After the next reboot the X server fails to start (which was a major nuisance for me at the beginning since the text mode couldn't be displayed on the attached TV and I had to attach a monitor for debugging) failing to load nvidia.ko. So now I have to check after every update whether the kernel image was updated and in this case to manually install the matching -pae header package, otherwise I would get a black screen after reboot again (at least now I have a textmode my TV can handle...). Today the kernel image was updated from 3.0.0-12-generic-pae to 3.0.0-13-generic-pae, linux-headers-3.0.0-13-generic-pae was again not installed automatically. After installing it manually run-parts automatically created /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic-pae/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic-pae/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia/nvidiafb.ko /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic-pae/updates/dkms/nvidia_current_updates.ko /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic-pae/updates/dkms/nvidia_current.ko /lib/modules/3.0.0-13-generic-pae/updates/dkms/nvidia_173.ko So yes, this is still a VERY annoying issue until today in Oneiric. There should be a dependency making sure that the matching kernel header is installed after an update of the kernel image if the nvidia X-server is installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/454220 Title: Nvidia fail with DKMS on linux-generic-pae - needs depends on -pae kernel header file package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/454220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
RE: [Bug 879025] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 upgrade overwrites MBR
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 882252 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882252 Hello Phil, I do not agree that this bug is a duplicate of bug 882252. The situation is different: the presence of ClearCrypt / PGP WGE is critical. My theory is that the installer tries to find other OS'es on the HDD, the installer will not recognize the encrypted Windows partition, and the installer will (wrongly) conclude that it is OK to overwrite the MBR. -Original Message- From: boun...@canonical.com [mailto:boun...@canonical.com] On Behalf Of Phil V Sent: woensdag 26 oktober 2011 22:32 To: Roland Vossen Subject: [Bug 879025] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 upgrade overwrites MBR *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 882252 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882252 ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 878314 Update to Oneiric Ocelot destroys Truecrypt Bootloader! ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 882252 11.10 installer doesn't carry-over bootloader old options -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/879025 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 upgrade overwrites MBR Status in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Master Boot Record was overwritten without notifying the user when upgrading from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10.
