[Bug 676351] Re: Unable to burn data DVD
Jeremy, Please do not close this bug. I have been watching the notices, and it was not supposed to expire for another couple of weeks. In the past few days, I posted notices in other places, hoping to drive others to this location. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676351 Title: Unable to burn data DVD -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If there are any Karmic users still subscribed to this bug, I could use some help over at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/676351 . [Bug 676351] Re: Unable to burn data DVD
Hi, Jeremy. Thanks for responding. I am a rank amateur using a single mission-critical machine, so forgive me if I am a bit nervous about this. Since this bug was already fixed in Lucid (#405544) and reported in Maverick (#669286), don't we already know the answer to whether it exists upstream? -- Unable to burn data DVD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.
This bug has been present on my Karmic amd_64 setup from the start. It seems to affect most NYTimes videos, though most YouTube videos come out clean. I have tried all of the above fixes without success. I like some of the features of Compiz (e.g., Place Windows), and since disablng it does not improve my videos, I left it on. This is probably an underpowered machine (e.g., GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, nVidia drivers), but since I use Compiz, I apparently can't take advantage of better hardware acceleration anyway. I developed a crude workaround using Greasemonkey that enlarges the NYTimes' embedded Flash player by about 250%. (Find it at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/90955 .) This gives me flicker- free, high quality video at an acceptable size. Comparing the results from my work-around to full-screen, I notice that I get the most flickering not during the fastest motion, but during the most sound. Perhaps this will suggest a possible solution strategy. -- Choppy Flash playback in full screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346289 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 581925] Re: cdrom_id: Does not recognize reblanked DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM
Now that a fix has been released for Lucid, please consider issuing a release for those of us still using Karmic. This bug was first reported over a year ago. That is the amount of time that I have been soldiering on with a crippled system. I hope you can understand that, for a beginner, upgrading from a crippled OS seems to be just an opportunity to exchange one set of problems for another. Karmic is supposedly still supprted, but the amount of time that has elapsed since this problem was reported has caused me to mistrust the level of commitment to that support -- or for that matter, to the support of subsequent releases. I've got to have a stable, fully functional system before I can consider an upgrade. -- cdrom_id: Does not recognize reblanked DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Mirco, I'm running Karmic. Following your instructions in #12, I got the patch. No sounds in Karmic. Same as #37 and #44, I installed freedesktop and activated Default preference. Re: #43. Karmic was my first (and last) Ubuntu install. [Bug 221073] Re: Beagle does not index Thunderbird mails
I've done a little more digging, in case anyone else cares to jump in. Source code for the Beagle Thunderbird backend is here: http://vbox4.gnome.org/browse/beagle/tree/beagled/ThunderbirdQueryable/ThunderbirdQueryable.cs?h =beagle-tbird-soc07 . The action seems to be around lines 343-347 (called from lines 381-383 and carried forward at line 398.) A partial explanation of what is going on can be found here: http://beagle- project.org/Filter_Tutorial . (See the section DoOpen() and DoClose().) As I understand it, the file is just a big buffer. Mail messages are laid end-to-end in the file, so the only way to retrieve a particular message is to specify its offset postion and its size. This stream is handed off to parser.ConstructMessage, etc. I hoping that some reader will have enough experience to spot a potential weakness with respect to Ubuntu 9.X, AMD64, etc. -- Beagle does not index Thunderbird mails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 221073] Re: Beagle does not index Thunderbird mails
I've recently tried a couple of things, unsuccessfully, to fix the problem on my own. Make no mistake, this is flailing. I have little understanding of what I am doing, but in the absence of expert support 1) I downloaded an older copy of the Thunderbird-Beagle add-on, version 0.1.2 . Same problem. Reinstall thunderbird-beagle 0.1.3. 2) I edited the contents of /usr/lib/thunderbird/extensions/{b656ef18-fd76-45e6-95cc-8043f26361e7}/chrome/beagle.jar in the following way: a) sudo file-roller b) open the file c) gedit beagleIndexer.js d) Based on a discussion I read ( https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=530632 ), describing a possible fix to the extension for Thunderbird 3 [Note: I am still using TB 2], I replaced 3 instances of path.unixStyleFilePath with nativePath . Save. Okay to update the jar. Close. e) This produced Exceptions in the Beagle Log that I did not used to have. Basically, it broke the Beagle backend. Reinstall thunderbird-beagle to undo the changes to beagleIndexer.js . f) What we learn from this experience is that Beagle's Index Helper process apparently runs Mono to re-open Thunderbird's folders and read the contents. If this is so, the locus of the main problem (i.e., not indexing e-mail content) is the Beagle backend rather than the Thunderbird add-on. That is a body of code that I dare not touch. It's too bad, though, that the add-on does not just dump the e-mail content while it has the chance. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #530632 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=530632 -- Beagle does not index Thunderbird mails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
