[Bug 1889323] [NEW] tab completion appends last character typed

2020-07-28 Thread rudy ordoyne
Public bug reported:

i have a completely fresh (i think) install of ksh 2020.0.0-5 on ubuntu
20.04. when trying to use tab completion (eg. cd ~/pictures ), i will
enter `cd pic` and ksh will complete to `cd picturesc`, with the
cursor stuck over the final c (i can't just type backspace to get rid of
it). this happens to every file and directory everywhere.

As soons as SoapUI was started the application freezes continually...

Since I downgraded to 5.3.0-45-generic, the hangings disappeared.
As it was said previously until the problem is fixed let's continue to work
with the version 5.3.0-45.

[Bug 1571199] Re: vlc broken with latest libupnp

2019-08-03 Thread Rudy Vissers
On a 16.04 LTS I managed to render Synology videos on the Google Chromecast.
You must use a VLC 3 to render the videos to Chromecast but unfortunately you
cannot browse the network (upnp).
sudo dpkg -i libupnp6_1.6.19+git20160116-1_amd64.deb
This will enable VLC 2 to browse the network.
As soon as you located the video you want to play then RC the video and a click
on 'information' and a popup is displayed. Then below the URL of the video is
displayed like http://192.168.0.25:50002/v/NDLNA/1.avi.
You can open this URL from VLC 3 and render to Chromecast.

happen when using USB2. At least, that's the way my 14.04/12 Gb system

The response was faster than getting an account setup!

Yes, this problem occurred after an attempted uninstall of a corrupted (or lost
root password)
of MySQL using:

sudo apt-get purge mysql-server mysql-common mysql-client

And yes, I did attempt to remove other files.

Thanks for the advice...

[Bug 1321958] Re: resize2fs does not start to actually grow an ext4

2014-12-07 Thread Rudy Broersma
I have just tried this patch (to resize2fs.c. There is another patch for
resize.c, but I dont have a resize.c in the 1.42.11 src tree), but it
didn't work out the way I'd like.

It seems to went all okay:

/dev/sdb 29T 26T 2.1T
93% /backups

root@dione:/usr/local/e2fsprogs/sbin# umount /backups/

root@dione:/usr/local/e2fsprogs/sbin# ./resize2fs -fp /dev/sdb
resize2fs 1.42.11 (09-Jul-2014)
Resizing the filesystem on /dev/sdb to 8775931648 (4k) blocks.
Begin pass 2 (max = 11703)
Relocating blocks
Begin pass 3 (max = 238018)
Scanning inode table
Begin pass 5 (max = 1)
Moving inode table
The filesystem on /dev/sdb is now 8775931648 blocks long.

root@dione:/# mount -a
root@dione:/# df -h

/dev/sdb 33T 26T 5.5T
83% /backups

However:

root@dione:/backups# ls -la
total 0

As shown, this disk contains 26 terabytes of data, but according to 'ls'
the disk is empty. I am trying to see if this can be fixed with e2fsck..
But this is scary.

[Bug 1321958] Re: resize2fs does not start to actually grow an ext4

2014-12-07 Thread Rudy Broersma
I ran e2fsck on this disk, and it found quite alot of problems with
early inodes. After e2fsck completed almost all the root folders were
moved to lost+found. I managed to restore the data by moving them back
from lost+found.

I'd like to note that although I ran resize2fs with the -f flag, I did
ran e2fsck prior to resizing the disk. However, resize2fs kept bugging
me that I needed to run e2fsck. Therefor I used the -f flag.

[Bug 993432] Re: remmina RDP window jumps workspaces, Super / Windows key is always active

2012-06-04 Thread Rudy Vissers
I have exactly the same problem :

4) What happened instead: the Windows 7 desktop jumps to another
workspace at random and the Super / Windows key is stuck in the on
position.

THAT PREVENTS ME TO USE REMMINA.
I can understand that you don't have the time to correct all the problems but
would you be kind at least to give us a workaround ?

Thanks in advance,

-Rudy-

[Bug 882817] Re: shutdown screen stuck after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10

2011-12-08 Thread Rudy Sevile
My laptop is a Asus N61J series. I have upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to
11.10 and this problem appeared.

It hands when shutting down or rebooting. Usually, one or zero of the
circles get filled on the splash screen and it just hangs there.
Sometimes it's actually does shutdown successfully, but it's rare (1 / 3
maybe).

I am using a wired ethernet connection.

[Bug 660864] Re: Ubuntu 10.10 Atheros AR9285 Wireless disconnects ( atl1c )

2011-08-14 Thread Rudy Sevile
I have an Asus N61J and I am running Ubuntu 11.04 (64 bits), wireless is
Atheros AR9285 and my kernel version is 2.6.38-10-generic x86_64. I have
been having the problem that my Wireless would stop working when
streaming or downloading a big file. No error message would show up.

I found a workaround by following the instructions on:

[Bug 752694] Re: Grub2 installs on the wrong device if in a RAID config

2011-06-01 Thread Rudy Broersma
I have the same issue. The partition wizard selects /dev/cciss/c0d0 as
preferred device, when selecting 'Use entire disk' it configures the
root partition on this device. But grub decides to install on /dev/sda
insteaf of /dev/cciss/c0d0

/dev/sda is an internal 4GB flashdrive.
the HP SmartArray (cciss) is selected as primary boot device in the BIOS

I'm not 100% sure (I cant verify right now) but I think I have the same
issue with a Dell R805 which also has a build in internal flashdrive
(for VMWare purposes, which we do not use).

[Bug 488244] Re: Evolution netbook resizing goes wrong

2010-10-15 Thread Rudy in Vancouver
I also encountered this bug with Maverick using Evolution 2.30.3
(English version). Also on an Acer Aspire One, mine has an 8.9 inch
screen using 1024x600 resolution. Kaizer's workaround to disable the
buttons did the trick for me, thanks.

I also noticed this bug when upgrading to Maverick. I can also confirm
that the deleting the *.el and *.elc fixes the problem.

[Bug 619663] Re: [maverick] Non-mirrored dual-screen gives narrow display on secondary monitor

2010-10-12 Thread Rudy
I am on a Compaq nc6320 with 945GM/GMS 943/940GML and yesterday i upgraded to
Ubuntu 10.10
As posted above, i had the same problem with my dual monitor setup.
A little twinkle with xrandr doen't solve the problem for me, but i was close.
I had a one-and-a-half monitor setup :)

So i tried the xorg-edgers and whoah, it works like charm!!!
So thanx a lot guys/girls :)

[Bug 646965] Re: package libc6 2.12.1-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-09-29 Thread Rudy in Vancouver
Hi, I realized that I was getting a ton of errors during the update so I
did a fresh install again. When I did the update after the install, it
seemed to work ok. I did do something slightly different this time.

Going from memory: the first time I did the update, it prompted me to
do a partial upgrade and I accepted. The second time I did the update,
I declined to do the partial upgrade until after the update was
complete. Both the update and the partial upgrade completed without
problems the second time.

[Bug 569914] Re: After dragging the window from the menu bar, no input is sent to Emacs

2010-09-23 Thread Rudy Neeser
I haven't looked at the sources, but I think this has something to do
with the changes made to the GTK menu bar widget for the Ayatana project
(they made it possible to drag a GTK app by dragging on the menu bar)
and with how emacs is expecting the menu bar to behave.

[Bug 569914] Re: After dragging the window from the menu bar, no input is sent to Emacs

2010-09-10 Thread Rudy Neeser
I can confirm that all that is required is a click on the menubar
outside of any menu item. Emacs then appears to completely freeze (the
cursor stops blinking, no text is placed in the buffer when you type,
and if the mini-buffer was active, it also does not accept any text).

Clicking on any menuitem causes emacs to unfreeze (the cursor begins to
blink again) and the various buffers once again accept input.

[Bug 613420] Re: gwibber doesn't receive tweets n

2010-08-26 Thread Rudy Neeser
Something has changed and gwibber is once again seeing my twitter
account :-/ I'm not sure what it is that has changed, though — all I've
done between last night and this morning is reboot, and that hasn't
fixed the problem before.

I've merged the new code and run gwibber-services as requested, though,
just in case it still helps you:

[Bug 601252] [NEW] package nfs-common 1:1.2.0-4ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-07-02 Thread Rudy in Vancouver
Public bug reported:

I've had this problem since upgrading from Karmic to Lucid. I had NFS
working in Karmic, but haven't got it working with Lucid yet after many
attempts.

Steps to produce the error:
1. System Administration Synaptic Package Manager
2. Reinstall nfs-kernel-server
3. Apply

I expect that nfs-kernel-server and dependencies to be installed, instead I get
the following two error dialogs:
--

E: nfs-common: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error

works fine for me. Please could you check if this issue is still
occuring in latest release included in Ubuntu Lucid? Thanks!

[Bug 543097] Re: metacity and compiz aren't working properly at startup

2010-05-20 Thread Rudy in Vancouver
Thanks for your suggestions Martin. I tried following them, but without
success. It turned out that the compiz package was indeed not
installed, but after installing it and restarting there was no change in
behaviour. I also tried removing the ~/.gonf/desktop/gnome/session/
directory and setting SystemPreferencesAppearancesVisual Effects to
None, again with no change.

More information which may or may not be useful:
I should point out that generally my workaround is just restarting compiz each
time I boot (i.e. $ compiz --replace ) without having to restart metacity
(although occasionally I have to restart both). And when I restart compiz I
always get the following error message in my terminal:

r...@mobile:~$ compiz --replace
[1] 1636
r...@mobile:~$ WARNING: Application calling GLX 1.3 function glXCreatePixmap
when GLX 1.3 is not supported! This is an application bug!

/usr/share/gdm/themes/Human/ubuntu.png
r...@mobile:~$ WARNING: Application calling GLX 1.3 function glXDestroyPixmap
when GLX 1.3 is not supported! This is an application bug!

Also, when I display SystemPreferencesAppearanceVisual Effects none
of the options are actually selected after I restart compiz, even though
the effects are working (e.g. the desktop cube).

And when I check the /var/log/syslog to find anything related to 'compiz' I get
the following (not sure if it's related or not):
May 20 13:54:07 mobile gnome-session[1260]: WARNING: Could not launch

[Bug 193848] Re: dput stalling forever during upload without returning error

2010-05-10 Thread Rudy Godoy
I'm having the same issue in a Debian sid box while uploading to Debian
ftp-master. Apparently, after strace and -d, the server closes the connection
and dput is unable to reinstantiate it so it continues sending the remaining
files.
A more detailed debug should be done under this conditions. I'm uploading a
file which size is circa 10MB.

I'm running Lucid beta1 on an Acer Aspire netbook (model ZG5). Since my
SSD isn't working anymore, I've got my root partition on an SDHC card
with the /boot partition on a USB stick. This configuration worked in
Karmic and seemed ok in Lucid alpha3, but I recently did a fresh install
of beta1 and I'm encountering the following problem at startup:

The boot process always stops at the purple Ubuntu splash screen with the
following message at the bottom, Waiting for /boot [SM]. At this point I can
hit enter and get a console which will immediately display the following
messages followed by a root prompt:
mountall:mountall.c:2726: Not reached assertion failed in boredom_timeout
 General error mounting filesystems.
A maintenance shell will now be started.
CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and reboot the system.

Now, if I issue a mountall command, the system will proceed to the GDM
and login from there as usual.

[Bug 321927] Re: /dev/pts and /dev/shm not mounted on boot

2009-05-19 Thread rudy
I am having the same issue on a clean install of 9.04. It occured after
updating my packages. During the update I had a kernel panic and on
rebooting my mouse refused to work. I then tried to reinstall my kernel
through aptitude and that was when I got to know the /dev/pts and
/dev/shm were not being mounted.

[Bug 314713] Re: linkedin very slow on Firefox Linux only

2009-05-17 Thread Rudy Tuik
Two different computers behind one adsl, one running XP-pro and SuSE 9.3
other SuSE 10.0, now 11.1. Browsers: XP: IE, Linux-KDE: Firefox, Opera,
Konqueror (all in different versions) and Lynx. Neither works. Stop
firewall in adsl modem does not help. Neither stop Linux firewall. Not
tried both. Did not find the config that Ian Steward mentioned in in
modem nor linux.

[Bug 371303] [NEW] inbox emptied, can't recieve mail but can send

2009-05-03 Thread Rudy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu 8.04, evolution mail. I've been successfully using evolution until
yesterday evening. I selected a message to view in my inbox, an error came up
on the bottom stating the path to my inbox could not be found. Rebooted, inbox
empty, although sub-folders in my inbox and sent items are still there. No
error messages, I can send but not receive mail. (It acts normally, but no
messages arrive)
I tried the following (that I found from an existing question). 0. Close
evolution; 1. open a terminal; 2. type in 'evolution --force-shutdown' this
will completely close Evolution.3. type 'env CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution
evo.log'(without the quotes) This will restart Evolution with a trace on the
email routines.4. try to do a send/receive. Per your comments it should be an
immediate failure...5. close evolution again. This will free up the terminal.6.
look at the log file (evo.log) that was created. Somewhere in there you should
see some errors.
evo log:
