[Bug 1891916] Re: virtualbox-dkms 6.1.10-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.20.04.1 fails to build with kernel 5.8

2021-01-08 Thread Salvatore Cristofaro
Having the same problem. After a normal apt-upgrade on my Kubuntu, the
5.8.0-34 kernel was installed and virtualbox-dkms fail to build the
related modules.

Not even the 5.8.0-36 (released today) works.
Please fix it.

[Bug 1832031] [NEW] No sound on external Samsung Monitor via Display Port/HDMI

2019-06-07 Thread Salvatore Cristofaro
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have two external monitor connected via a Dell TB16 (thunderbolt).
One is a Samsung T28C570 and the other one is a Samsung CF791.
The first one is connected via HDMI. The second one is connected via Display
Port.

The problem is that sound on Samsung CF791 doesn't work.

I know it's not a mixer problem because:
1) Sometime, If i press CTRL+ALT+F2 (to enter in console mode) and then go back
on Desktop with CTRL+ALT+F1 i can heard sound from the monitor when I increase
or decrease volume, even if a little bit distorted. Nevertheless, if I try to
play a video (for example youtube), sound stops to work. I have to stop any
audio stream, return to console mode and back again in desktop to hear again
distorted sound then increase volume.
2) On Windows, I have no problem (so it seems not to be an hardware issue).

I tried to connect the CF791 via HDMI, but problem persist.
I have no problem with the other monitor.

I have checked every alsamixer e pavucontrol settings unsuccessful.

My laptop is a Dell XPS 13.

[Bug 1069707] ❣Re: good memories

2017-08-04 Thread Salvatore Cristofaro
Hi friend!

I've visited a very nice place some time ago and have very good memories
associated with it, here are some pics of that amazing place http://bit.do/dELhw

See you around, Salvatore Cristofaro

Thanks, friend. :)

Yes, my husband (ISTJ) is awesome. We've really stretched each other,
but there are just some things he'll alwYs be uncomfortable with (and
me too, just vice versa), so although we have similar values and
respect, we usually have different ideas of fun. ??

When you lived closer to/in a major city, where did you meet these
intuitive and fun girls? School? Work? Public events?

[Bug 1069707] Re: [SONY VAIO VPCS12L9E] Suspend doesn't work after dist-upgrade to Quantal 12.10

2013-01-26 Thread Salvatore Cristofaro
Hello,

I tested http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc4-raring/
kernel. It doesn't freeze anymore but suspend doesn't work: my laptop
didn't enter in suspend mode, but only show me unblock session dialog
window (as it was just resumed from suspend).

Regards,
Salvatore

You are welcome Damian. I opened a bug on the acpi kernel mailing list:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50111

You could post there...

P.S. To use environment sensor for automatic screen keyboard brightness, you
can use sony-acpid deamon
http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/wiki/AutoDimmingBacklightDaemon (sorry
for OT)

[Bug 1069707] Re: [SONY VAIO VPCS12L9E] Suspend doesn't work after dist-upgrade to Quantal 12.10

2012-11-20 Thread Salvatore Cristofaro
Hello,

Here a temporany workaround to make suspend work on Ubuntu 12.10 using
3.5 family kernel:

http://shiba89.wordpress.com/2012/10/25/ubuntu-12-10-linux-3-5-e-sony-
laptop/

Code:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shiba89/vaio-kernel
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic sony-laptop-dkms

It use the 3.4 kernel module with Absence Patches: http://www.absence.it
/vaio-acpi/source/patches/
