[Bug 1124408] Re: wav file garbled in totem, plays fine in gst-launch and mplayer

2013-10-27 Thread Schmirrwurst
Still the case in 13.10 !!
For me playing Wav files belongs to the core functionalities from an os, so I
hope it will be fixed soon ! It the 3rd version from ubuntu not beeing able to
play wave files... not really a good point , not sure If we don't need to
reopen bug #1, because the war against microsoft is not won, when I see things
like that !

[Bug 790815] [NEW] acroread plugin doesn't work in chromium with mozplugger

2011-05-31 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozplugger

In Natty, the acroread plugin doesn't work in Chromium, with or without
mozplugger...

With mozplugger, there is a message missing plugin with a black
background

So I've search around, and found this is a problem in mozplugger config file,
if I edit it, and
uncomment the following line in /etc/mozpluggerrc
#ACROREAD()
and add this instead, it works ! :
repeat noisy swallow(acroread) fill needs_xembed: acroread $file

Maybe the options used in the script for acroread is nomore supported ?

[Bug 721691] [NEW] default boot doesn't work after updates, osprobe is at the wrong place

2011-02-19 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

I installed a couple of dual booting systems by friends, and I have always the
same problem, that by default, osprobe is after normal linux script, so that if
you choose windows as default boot, after each kernel update, it the default
boot is changed !
I think it make more sense to move osprober up in the default update-grub
script, so that other os are on top, and not affected on kernel updates...
At installation, it could be ask if user wan't to boot by default on any of the
found other os, or on linux, and then default boot being setup...

[Bug 583440] [NEW] import previous session from multisession cdrom shoud be default

2010-05-20 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I've just spent a lot of time by a newbie user, by whom I've installed
ubuntu with gnome (i'm a kde user)

This user was pretty disapointed, that on burning a new session on a
multisession disc, was hidding the previous burned files...
Brasero is displaying a warning about this problem, but I think it should just
import the previous session automatically, like in Windows, and everything
would be fine...

I find the way to burn under gnome less intuitive than under windows,
and to ask the lambda user to know it as to import the session manually,
for having the result obtained directly under windows is much more
complicated, and what's the benefit ?

2010-05-12 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

When I go to the battery applet, on the control panel, and whant to change the
energy profile, the presentation profile was not displayed in the drop down
list. I though first, that it was not possible to choose that profile from the
applet, but then I realised, that it is there, but not displayed. If I go down
with the keybord and then press enter, I can choose it, but it is not
displayed...

[Bug 385723] Re: no backlight support for laptop (hal depreciation regression)

2010-04-03 Thread Schmirrwurst
For me on sony fz, EnableBrightnessControl isn't working with the glx drivers...
The nvidia_bl isn't working for me (I tried karmic version, there is no lucid
one), and in the description, it is supposed to support only NV40 and , not
NV50 like my geforce 8...

The report is about missing backlight support in ubuntu for nvidia glx.
Nvidia won't do anything, hal either, so that ubuntu users are missing
backlight control since 5 years, and there is no real solution for the
moment...

Smartdimmer is now able to set and get backlight information for those
cards, but is not yet used by ubuntu for backlight management. a
nvidia_bl module is probably the right way, because devicekit is
rejecting the idea to write a specific code to use smartdimmer for
nvidia hw... But I think if on the side from ubuntu nothing is to be
done, than ubuntu users will have to live without backlight support for
again 5 years or more... and quite a lot of notebooks are shiped with nv
hw not only mac but also sony, samsung, dell, acer...

[Bug 543498] [NEW] network-manager not managed, knetworkmanager not working

2010-03-21 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Until a few days, an update seems to have made knetworkmanager /
network-manager no more working.

Knetwork-manager is complaining about not managed network, and nothing change
if I restart network-manager.
I guess some package update may have changed the configuration from
network-manager, so that it doesn't work anymore with knetworkmanager ?
I could find any configuration files from network-manger, and no log files...
