This problem has been fixed upstream, see http://filezilla.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/filezilla?view=revrevision=3445 The root cause was that threading wasn't initialized in libdbus, leading to plenty of race condition causing the observed crash. Two possible workarounds for this issue until the FileZilla package in Ubuntu gets updated: a) Disable the Prevent system from entering idle sleep during transfers and other operations option in the settings dialog of FileZIlla b) alternatively install the ibus-gtk package, if it gets loaded during startup of FileZilla it initializes threading in libdbus before FileZilla calls any function from libdbus. -- filezilla crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_connection_dispatch() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421208 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center I am unable to configure my monitors using System - Preferences - Display using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6. [Bug 392312] Re: Does not support Greek characters in remote pc
Looks like a problem with your server. Εντολή: MKD νεος Απάντηση: 257 /domains/oinos-meli.gr/public_html/íåïò - Directory successfully created íåïò is the iso8859-1 interpretation of the iso8859-7 representation of νεος One reason this can happen is the following: - Server uses single-byte characterset internally, most likely ISO8859-1 - Upon receiving νεος in UTF-8 the server decodes it to its single-byte character set. Since ISO8859-1 doesn't contain greek characters it simply uses the corresponding values from ISO8859-7 as replacement. - When re-endocing the reply back into UTF-8 it interprets its internal representation according to ISO8859-1 again. -- Does not support Greek characters in remote pc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392312 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Now I see what's going wrong. Your server does not include UTF8 in its FEAT reply. On such servers you must not use non-ASCII characters as use of any character set other than ASCII (unless explicitly negotiated through undefined means) on non-UTF8 capable (as determined by FEAT response) is against FTP specifications. Use of non-ASCII characters requires UTF-8 encoding. [Bug 217975] Re: Cannot show/delete hidden files or delete folders that contains hidden files on FTP
No. Since LIST -a is not standardized, a corresponding line for the FEAT reply isn't standardized either. You could use heuristics to test for LIST -a support (e.g. list same directory twice, first with LIST then with LIST -a and check that the second listing is a superset of the first). But as with all heuristics, they can result in failures. In the worst case, the heuristic reports support for LIST -a on a server not supporting it, causing further problems. The only fool-proof solution is to contact the server administrator so that he can properly configure the server or alternatively install a better one. If you really want to use LIST -a, use a heuristic and make it so that the user has to explicitly enable it, together with a big warning explaining the problem. Remark: Some servers, e.g. vsftpd, rely on unspecified LIST -a support. force_dot_files=YES should be added to the default configuration so that no new server installations use this broken behavior. -- Cannot show/delete hidden files or delete folders that contains hidden files on FTP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217975 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 217975] Re: Cannot show/delete hidden files or delete folders that contains hidden files on FTP
We could probably expect it to use the FTP standard LIST -a command to show hidden files LIST -a is not standard, it is nowhere mentioned in RFC 959 or any other RFC relevant for FTP. In fact, there are many servers which interpret LIST -a as list the file or the contents of the directory named -a. A server not showing all files with LIST relies on nonstandard behavior and is essentially broken. -- Cannot show/delete hidden files or delete folders that contains hidden files on FTP https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217975 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 202114] Re: Passwords saved as plain text
And what prevents the sys admin from installing a program that intercepts your private data the next time you get it out of the keychain? [Bug 147162] Re: french freebox update directory host
From the log: Status: Invalid character sequence received, disabling UTF-8. Select UTF-8 option in site manager to force UTF-8. According to the FTP specifications, the only two valid encodings for FTP are plain ASCII (RFC 959) as well as UTF-8 (RFC 2640). Your server violates these specifications and uses a different encoding. As workaround, you can use the Site Manager of FileZilla where you can select a custom encoding for your server which may or may not work. If possible, fix your server. -- french freebox update directory host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147162 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
