Public bug reported: I just updated to an unstable kernel build from the kernels team Repo it´s the 5.11-2.3 package (5.11 RC3) The mount of /dev/boot fails with a message: IO charset iso8859-1 not found this is probably due to the kernel being unable to load the nls_iso8859-1 module. I see multiple messages with BPF:No data and for the nls_iso8859-1 module a message: failed to validate module [nls_iso8859_1] BTF: -22 this is probably introduced by this patch: https://lkml.org/lkml/2020/11/6/1143 I don´t undestand what BTF validation is and whether this is an issue with linux 5.11-rc3 or with how the kernel modules are packaged in Ubuntu. My machine is a Renoir (zen2) based Acer Laptop running in UEFI mode, with a fat32 /boot partition and a ext4 / root partition. The root partition gets mounted, but once the /boot should be mounted, this fails with the mentioned error.. I only see a black console with a blinking cursor.. lightdm process is still running, so failsafe-x doesn´t take over i guess... Experiencing this bug with latest 13.10 Saucy Salamander... Would be nice if someone can fix this! maybe we should implement libgrepmazon which handles the request in a different thread, it could be reused in other packages like command- not-found or binutils aswell. I have the same problem, i think this is a rights problem, because vidalia runs as the current user, but tor as root. Vidalia can´t change the config in /etc/tor/torrc either, because it´s owned by root:root by default. It would be nice, if vidalia uses homedir/.vidalia/torrc by default and the tor client does not start as a service by default. So vidalia could control tor by startingi it as the current user with -f homedir/.vidalia/torrc. The button in Nautilus to import photos is fine i think. Because this is the action most users want to perform, if they connect a camera or device with photos on it. (import them to store them). Well it doesn´t find any information (i don´t epected that as no one knows my mailserver LOL), because it can´t find that information it keeps telling me, it can´t add that mailserver (Es konnten keine Einstellungen für ihr E-Mail-Konto gefunden werden)... so even if i manually enter the serveradress and the port / ecryption method, it justs asks the mozilla db and doesn´t even try to connect to my server.. I hope Canonical chooses to not include such features in there coming releases of ubuntu or someone forks that mozilla crap and removes all that bloatware features... I consider that as a bug, because adding mailservers not in the mozilla ISP Database is impossible or just doesn´t work. There is no way of adding a server manualy without the shitty wizzard which many people don´t want, because they know what they are doing! I do the following: - Click I already have an account - login After that the small window which i think is used to add the review, shows a loading icon with the text login please wait.. i don´t have synaptic installed and can confirm that this bug happens without synaptic! I experience a long hang (30-40 seconds) after i start the session, after that hang (mouse is movable) unity starts but that error occoured.. This only happens if compiz is used. ubuntu 2d works fine! i am using the fglrx driver because using the ati/radeon one the screen stays black. Ok had to hack this a littlebit.. The devias regions for ctrl_region and fb_region.. fb_region isn´t found correctly i think. Yes, thought this was related to the pixel dimensions, but it´s real screen size... I switched to the xorg-edgers repository, but the problem still persists... The blaack Screen Problem only happens with lightdm, with gdm shortly a mousepointer is visible but then returns to console back to Xorg three times to finally land on console. i have the same problem starting from today. Seems like PulseAudio isn´t detecting the ALSA Device.. i don´t know why, because the alsa device is present and not in use.. if i load the alsa module via default.pa audio works, but only for 1 ALSA Card.. Autodetection doesn´t work at all (for ALL cards).
