[Bug 1453556] Re: major slowdown in 3d games after a while
Just for a test, I tried: * switching the nVidia driver to version 346.59, didn't help * switching to gnome shell for a while, didn't help So this bug isn't Compiz-only. [Bug 1453556] [NEW] major slowdown in 3d games after a while
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Vivid, I've been experiencing a new issue (wasn't present before in Utopic): after a period of let's say about a day, and multiple suspend-resume cycles in that period ( 5), some 3D games will have so low FPS as to become unplayable. (I've confirmed this with multiple games, like Massive Chalice, Space Run, Frozen Cortex, Trine, which used to work properly in Utopic.) I'm not sure the problem is with compiz, but I can make the problem go away by running compiz --replace in a terminal - Compiz will restart and my FPS goes back to normal. I'm using nVidia drivers 340.76, as can be seen from the submitted files. Is this a known issue? Should I try running some other driver version to see if that's the problem? So is this bug supposed to be fixed? Because I'm still having issues running unity-settings-daemon 14.04.0+14.10.20141014-0ubuntu1. Actually, the screen will blank a couple of times on time, but as time goes by (days), it'll stop. The suspend timer still works, just the screen won't blank. [Bug 1329048] Re: Shouldn't stop listing events until they are over
Could this be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /indicator-datetime/+bug/1302004? For example I use a lot of all-day events, and it's unintuitive my events aren't shown in the 5 event list in the indicator *on the day they are active*. Instead the indicator skips the day's events and shows the next 5. If the indicator doesn't show events that have started, and all-day events are considered to have started at 00:00, that'd explain it. [Bug 779088] Re: Unity's top panel's size
According to http://askubuntu.com/questions/88031/how-to-resize-the-top- panel-in-unity, the top panel height is hard coded in Unity's source. I propose that the panel height be, at least, proportional to the font used if not configurable by hand outright. I prefer slightly larger font sizes which make it look cramped. Also, the text size settings in Universal Access should have an effect on it too. Also, if someone were to undertake this task, don't forget to make sure the window controls are scaled and well placed. In past versions of Unity, when the panel would increase its size with the font the close button would drift slightly out of alignment and not touch the top left corner, so it wasn't possible to close the current window by throwing the cursor into the top left corner and clicking. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779088 Title: Unity's top panel's size To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/779088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 749363] [NEW] transmission indicator doesn't indicate anything
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: transmission This is a wishlist bug. It seems to me that the Transmission application indicator doesn't actually indicate anything except that Transmission is running. I propose that, in addition to allowing easy access to the most commonly used Transmission functions, the application indicator be made to change its look depending on what Transmission is actually doing. Here's a suggestion: create three slightly different indicator icons, one for idle, one for seeding, and one for downloading. If no torrents are downloading or seeding, display the seeding icon. If at least one torrent is being actively downloaded, display the downloading icon, and if no torrents are being actively downloaded and at least one torrent is being seeded, display the seeding icon. Alternative suggestions: display a different icon if turtle mode is on, or display a different icon (or switch icon color, like the messaging menu) if there are issues with torrents that should be resolved. ** Affects: ayatana-design Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ayatana-design Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749363 Title: transmission indicator doesn't indicate anything -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 688995] [NEW] gedit remains open when last tab closed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit Gedit uses a MDI model; in particular, tabs. When the last tab in Gedit is closed, Gedit remains open with no tabs. Gedit should be modified to close the application when the last tab is closed. Rationale: Ubuntu ships a number of application that use tab interfaces; for example: Firefox, Chrome/Chromium, Pidgin (conversation window), Nautilus, Eclipse, Monodevelop, etc. I find that all of these applications except Eclipse and similar (so, development environments) will terminate once the last tab is closed. Firefox: will make is difficult for the user to close the last tab (either by hiding the tab bar when only one tab is open, or by removing the X button in the last remaining tab). However, the last tab can be closed by CTRL+W (although this command, found in the File menu, changes name from 'close tab' to just 'close' when only one tab is open), or by a mouse gesture bound to 'close current tab' (if using such an add-on). Once the last tab is closed, the whole window instance closes. Chrome: closing the last tab is easy with the X button in the tab itself. When the last tab is closed, the application instance closes. Pidgin conversation window: hides the tab bar when only one tab open, so technically the ability to close tabs is taken away when there is only one tab, and the user is forced to close the entire conversation window. Still: no tabs, no window. Nautilus: similar to Pidgin conversation window. Applications like Eclipse, Monodevelop etc. use a different model: they can continue running with zero tabs open. I would argue that, since Gedit is likely to be used by non-technical users on a daily basis (being the default text editor/previewer), Gedit should be patched to behave consistently with applications like Firefox and Nautilus; that is, to either hide the tab bar when there is only one document loaded, or to terminate itself when the last tab is closed. I argue this should be done primarily in the name of user interface consistency of the platform. Since Gedit can be used as more than a simple text editor, even as a full fledged IDE, Gedit should be patched to allow reverting to the old behavior, but this option should be disabled by default. [Bug 526475] Re: pidgin close unexpectly with indicator-applet
I traced the problem to code in indicate_show_cb. Apparently, gtw_window_present (and present_with_time) are supposed to be used to present already open windows (http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/2.90/GtkWindow.html#gtk-window- present), so that might have been a contributing factor. Two proposed fixes: 1) Add a call to pidgin_conv_attach_to_conversation(). See patch 1. 2) Replace the block with pidgin_conv_present_conversation() (and keep pidgin_conv_window_switch_gtkconv(), to ensure the conversation gets focused. Might be more elegant. See patch 2 in next comment. ** Patch added: Patch 1. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin-libnotify/+bug/526475/+attachment/1594263/+files/pidgin-libnotify-1.diff -- pidgin close unexpectly with indicator-applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526475 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 526475] Re: pidgin close unexpectly with indicator-applet
I believe I am affected by this bug as well. It happens only when Hide new IM conversations is set to Always. Steps to reproduce: 1) Have a contact send me an instant message. The message will pop up in a notification, and the name of the contact will be added to the messaging menu, under Pidgin. 2) Click the contact name in the messaging menu. A new conversation window will open, displaying the message, but it will be unfocused. 3) Focus the conversation window, and close it. The conversation window will empty itself, but will not close. Another click on the close window button is needed to close the window. 4) Have the contact send another message. Pidgin will crash. Some more info: the bug manifests in both 2.6.6 from the Lucid repositories, and the 2.7.3 version from the Pidgin PPA. Also manifests itself in the pidgin-libnotify packages from both Lucid and Maverick repos. I'm running Lucid Lynx, 32-bit. I've attached a backtrace as per the link provided by Sebastien Bacher. ** Attachment added: Full backtrace https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin-libnotify/+bug/526475/+attachment/1568619/+files/gdb-pidgin.txt -- pidgin close unexpectly with indicator-applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526475 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
