[Bug 12470] Re: slapd.config infinite loop

I think the package is slapd, now source package openldap. AFAIK
openldap2.2 no longer exists - so openldap2.2 invalid/won't fix status
is probably correct.

[Bug 655452] Re: bluetooth doesn't remember on/off state after boot

2011-10-04 Thread Tristan Hill (credativ)
Per http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=10167074postcount=7 this can
be worked around by adding

rfkill block bluetooth

to startup applications.

Since both the gnome applet and rfkill use /dev/rfkill the applet should
pick up the disabled state still.

[Bug 815214] Re: export to html gives error

2011-07-30 Thread Tristan Hill (credativ)
To clarify, the systems I tried were upgraded from maverick with OO to
natty to LO, no LO ppa used.

libreoffice-java-common seems to be a suggests on the libreoffice-writer
package in natty - so I believe not installed by default?

[Bug 815214] [NEW] export to html gives error

2011-07-23 Thread Tristan Hill (credativ)
Public bug reported:

* Open new writer document
* File - Export
* save in .html format
* get 'Error saving the document Untitled 1: Write Error. The file could not be
written.'

This error goes away if the libreoffice-java-common package is
installed. On the installations I have easy access to which have been
upgraded from previous ubuntu releases this package is not installed by
default.

Maybe this has been spotted, but it looks like

if not apt_btrfs.snapshots_supported:
logging.debug(btrfs snapshots not supported)
return

should be

if not apt_btrfs.snapshots_supported():
logging.debug(btrfs snapshots not supported)

i.e. missing ()

I'm using a gstreamer pipeline of

which appears to behave correctly (gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse

[Bug 406008] [NEW] connection hangs after streams:feature element received

2009-07-28 Thread Tristan Hill
Public bug reported:

on karmic, loudmouth version 1.4.3-3

Empathy would previously hang while trying to connect to my jabber
account (on a jabberd2 server -
http://codex.xiaoka.com/wiki/jabberd2:start) - worked fine with a
jabberd14 server (http://jabberd.org/). After experiencing the same
issue with the lm-test command line client the issue appears to be in
the loudmouth library.

Raised upstream as
http://loudmouth.lighthouseapp.com/projects/17276/tickets/51-hang-when-
connecting-to-jabberd2-server. lm-test verbose output also available
there.

Branch with patch is available: lp:~stan/+junk/loudmouth

[Bug 131538] Re: [needs-packaging] htmlvalidator

2009-07-20 Thread Tristan Hill
Are any special steps required to use the ppa version? I've installed
it from the ppa (on jaunty) and restarted firefox but don't see the
extension listed in the add-ons. I notice other packaged extensions
create symlinks in /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions and wondered if
this was missing.

[Bug 342347] [NEW] irman usb timeout

2009-03-13 Thread Tristan Hill
Public bug reported:

When an irman serial device is used via a usb serial convertor the
default select timeout is not long enough to reliably receive
transmitted codes. This means that buttons on the remote often have to
be pressed mulitple times to have the desired effect.

It is shown by lircd when built with '--enable-debug' as:
lircd: error reading code: Connection timed out

This has been fixed in upstream cvs:
http://lirc.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/lirc/libirman/irman.h?r1=1.2r2=1.3

Although this change was made upstream a while ago it does not appear to have
made it into a new release.
http://lirc.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/lirc/libirman/irman.h?view=log indicates
revision 1.2 of this file is the one in the 0.4.4 release currently used in
jaunty.

I have applied this patch to libirman-dev and rebuilt the lirc package
to relink with the static library and can confirm codes are now reliably
received.

** Affects: libirman (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 280571] Re: (intrepid) network manager : does not auto connect for vpn

2008-10-25 Thread Tristan Hill
Possible duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager-openvpn/+bug/279517 .

The related: comment from
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349151 appears to talk about
this - although no apparent mention of the Connect Automatically
checkbox (which may have been added since that bug was created)

strace -e trace=process -f firefox indicates that firefox is trying to

pointing it at /usr/bin/transmission seem to make it do the right thing.

[Bug 477] Re: Config of pure-ftpd need to be simplified.

2006-09-24 Thread Tristan Hill
pure-ftpd comes with its own wrapper script (configuration-file/pure-
config.*) which will build the command line options from a configuration
file (which could be /etc/pure-ftpd/pure-ftpd.conf). It seems
unfortunate that both debian and gentoo have decided to invent their own
scheme, particularly for users of both type of system.
