I can confirm that the 'Large Text' option is switched off, however even when
it is switched on the lock screen components remain the same.
Also, where can I go to see the top bar configuration?

[Bug 1765980] Re: IPv6 fragments with nf_conntrack_reasm loaded cause net_mutex deadlock upon LXD container shutdown

2018-11-02 Thread Owen Valentine
This has expired, but affects me too here.
I'm specifically using Proxmox, which uses Ubuntu for upstream kernel -
currently at 4.15.18, and I see the same symptoms.
Specifically LXC, specifically at stop and specifically kworker using 100% of
one core and preventing startup of other containers.
I've found that this isn't present in Proxmox's own kernel 4.15.10-1
specifically.

No, I performed a clean format and install from a DVD. I have been running

[Bug 989396] Re: Package keyboard-configuration post-installation script. Hang on /bin/setupcon --force --save for 10 min then killed

2017-03-30 Thread Dan Valentine
I can confirm that hitting scroll lock allows setup to continue. This
server has a physical keyboard directly connected to it that is never
used. Scroll lock was on for some reason so hitting the button turned
it off. My SSH session was stuck at "Configuring keyboard-
configuration..." until I did that.

[Bug 1485057] Re: lsusb -v as root freezes the kernel on Acer ES1-111; also freeze on shutdown

2015-08-25 Thread Valentine A.
I use Acer Aspire ES1-511. Installed Xubuntu 14.04.01 and he's work
perfect.

But...
At the start of a LiveUSB and install version 4.14.02 or older (and 15.04)
observed a problem with the power off and reboot the notebook.

After a BIOS update from version 1.03 to 1.09, the problem persists, but
behaves differently. The system does not start. Even with LiveUSB.
System boot hangs on this -
http://cdn.img42.com/307609ac57589768dd3e0f7723b376c4.jpeg

Adding these commands at startup does not help:

modprobe.blacklist=dw_dmac,i2c_designware_platform,i2c_designware_core

This is the case with any fresh Linux distributions, whether Manjaro or Fedora
etc.

[Bug 1041014] [NEW] Patch to re-enable full screen mode

2012-08-23 Thread Nathan Valentine
Public bug reported:

About 9 years ago I submitted a patch to Debian to enable full screen
mode in Etherape. The code lives on in menu.c and menu.h but somehow the
glade code got dropped so that code has been dead all this time. I just
re-added the XML to glade to re-activate the dead code.

Patch against precise is attached.

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure

2011-02-01 Thread James Valentine
First class work: thank you for the very clear instructions.

For reference, no reboot is necessary. Complete the build and install
steps, then:

killall gpilotd
killall gpilot-applet
(and allow it to reload when prompted)

Rather than rebooting (I hate restarting my session), this worked for
me:

sudo modprobe -r btusb
sudo modprobe btusb

sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart

[Bug 370173] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 laptop overheat and shutdown

2009-06-04 Thread Nathan Valentine
Just to confuse things even more...

Since I created the original bug report I've not witnessed the behavior
EXCEPT when I have the laptop plugged in w/ battery and connected to a
2nd monitor with Xinerma enabled. I have a feeling that, in that
situation, the temperature increase is probably more due to the video
card working extra hard for dual-monitor rather than any CPU freq
scaling issues.

[Bug 315383] [NEW] XLS files cannot be uploaded via POST HTML form: submit button doesn't work

2009-01-09 Thread James Valentine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I'm on Ubuntu 8.10
The package is 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1

Whilst image files, for example, can be selected and uploaded through
the file upload box in an HTML form, the XLS file I am using cannot: the
submit button becomes unclickable.

No information I can find on the net can explain why this is the case,
although I expect it to be related to the way the new file browse box
works in FF3, and so-called security fixes.

[Bug 246067] Re: Kernel panic during boot in VirtualBox with kernel 2.6.26.*-generic

2008-08-16 Thread Kevin Valentine
Just tested with Alternate Alpha 4 iso (I stopped burning CDs). Turned
off all Extended features and it booted without the kernel panic ...
once. It's very strange. It would work at other times if I made what
seemed like large config changes in vbox, like SATA to IDE drive type.
I've tried using boot options like noapic and nolapic but nothing
sticks. It all seems very random. Is there a good way to step through
the boot process? I've tried boot options like BOOT_DEBUG=3 and
DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 but they don't seem to do anything.

[Bug 93417] Re: Image scaling bug in gspca kernel module.

2008-08-16 Thread Kevin Valentine
@ Brad Johnson
Just wanted to thank you for suggesting the use of vloopback. I just had a
long video conversation with someone using Ekiga. I went with:
./resize /dev/video0 /dev/video1 352x288 176x144 rgb24

@all
In order to get better video quality I had to pass some gain parameters to the
gspca module on load:
modprobe gspca GRed=512 GBlue=512 GGreen=512 force_rgb=0

I also tried the patch mentioned earlier. Still got cropping. Luckily
this vloopback is at least a temporary solution :)

I didn't get to test with skype yet. What applications are people here using
for testing the video cropping? I tend to go back and forth with ekiga,
camorama, gqcam, and spcaview. That last one works the best and has no
cropping issues. It also gives lots of useful info about your camera. Here's
what mine shows:
