[Bug 1915906] [NEW] Ensure SRP BN_mod_exp follows the constant time path

2021-02-17 Thread Viacheslav
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I'd like to point out that there are two fixes missing from the
upstream, is there any chance to get them incorporated?

https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/13888
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/pull/13889

There was no CVE assigned, it was fixed between 1.1.1i and 1.1.1j.

Best regards

[Bug 1853369] Re: [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

2020-04-23 Thread Viacheslav Semykrasov
Yesterday my son shut down my laptop with a power button in a forced way. After
this, I couldn't boot without cable again.
Today, I had to reboot and had no success to boot as well and after this, I
plugged in my cable but forget to switch on the power filter (so cable had no
power), but I managed to boot this time.
I suppose that:
- Secure Boot doesn't help each time at least
- probably hard power off makes some influence booting success
Seems to be a floating bug

2020-04-01 Thread Viacheslav Semykrasov
Using 19.10 for a long time. This week had 2 times issue:
1st time:

last kernel 5.3.0-45
hanged on boot and on recovery:
loading initial ramdisk (in recovery mode, 5.3.0-45)
Somehow I managed to boot and after this worked properly

2nd time, today:
the same behavior, 5.3.0-42 recovery too.
Chrooted from rescue USB and upgraded 3 packages, one of them was something
about microcode...
here are my versions, but didn't help...
slava@slava-Latitude-5500:~$ dpkg -l | grep microcode

amd64Processor microcode firmware for Intel CPUs
ii  iucode-tool2.3.1-1

After I found your comments before, I tried to plug in power cable to my Dell
Lattitude 5500 and I managed to boot with a normal mode. This way I remembered
I plugged in a cable the 1st time too before successful booting
The laptop is based on intel

[Bug 1860549] [NEW] isc-dhcp server not use configuration file options

2020-01-22 Thread Viacheslav Kaloshin
Public bug reported:

in /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server describe two options
# cat /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server

# On what interfaces should the DHCP server (dhcpd) serve DHCP requests?
#   Separate multiple interfaces with spaces, e.g. "eth0 eth1".
INTERFACESv4=""
INTERFACESv6=""

But in systemctl unit files used old option, without v4/v6 suffixes

# systemctl cat isc-dhcp-server6.service
.
exec dhcpd -user dhcpd -group dhcpd -f -6 -pf /run/dhcp-server/dhcpd6.pid
-cf $CONFIG_FILE $INTERFACES'

Fix is very quick ;)

s/INTERFACES/INTERFACESv4/ in isc-dhcp-server.service
s/INTERFACES/INTERFACESv6/ in isc-dhcp-server6.service

Or as workaround add old INTERFACES="" to /etc/default/isc-dhcp-server

[Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes

2017-02-26 Thread Viacheslav
Hi. Installing Ubuntu 16.04, installing INTEL GRAPHICS UPDATE TOOL FOR
LINUX* OS V2.0.4 didn't help. Except one.

> echo "options i915 enable_rc6=0" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf
> sudo update-initramfs -k `uname -r` -u

This command disable power-saving render C-state 6 for i915 driver. It helped
me on Ubuntu 16.10 and 16.04.
Also there are other powersaving possibly harmful for performance and stability
parameters. They are:
-enable_fbc
-enable_dc

Also you may look at `semaphores` parameter. To read all i915 parameters:
> modinfo -p i915

This is a very useful link about intel graphic that I found:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/intel_graphics

@Jeffry R. Fisher: in logs(16.04) I had the same error as you, about
missing DMC firmware. I didn't fix it and apparently will not. All this
power-saving stuff makes no sense if you almost always work with power
supply.

Thank you and good luck.

[Bug 1656155] Re: System (keyboard & touchpad) freezes

2017-02-18 Thread Viacheslav
I did fresh install.

Currently I am on Ubuntu 16.04 with `uname -r` -> 4.4.0-62-generic. I
checked Ubuntu 16.10 on Feb 17 2017, sorry, but didn't check kernel
version, but assure it was fresh as possible (after install I made `sudo
apt upgrade`).

Also I found that, maybe, all freezes occur in Chrome browser (in my
scenario), so respectively to assumptions that Intel Graphic is guilty
in this bug I switched off GPU support in Chrome settings and keep
watching my laptop.

I have the same laptop, Ubuntu 16.04 also and the same pitch/whistle
static noise in headphones (it doesn't matter whether my sound volume is
muted or not). The noise started approximately after login screen
appearing. I used this temporary solution
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2204740 using p. 2 and 3:

2. Add this line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi
3. Reload alsa
Code:
sudo alsa force-reload
pulseaudio -k

and it works for me now but I confirm the problem still exists

[Bug 1010289] [NEW] KeePass2: copy username or copy password does not work as expected in applications

2012-06-07 Thread Viacheslav Kurenyshev
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 64bit.
Keepass was installed from default repositories (ver 2.18) and after upgraded
to PPA version 2.19. The same behaviour.

I opened a keepass DB and clicked Copy User Name or Copy Password on an
item.
I could past it in some tricky way in different applications.

Gnome-terminal:
* SHIFT+Insert did not work.
* Right button of mouse did not work as 'paste' actions was not allowed.
* CTRL+SHIFT+V did not work.
but
* CTRL+SHIFT+Insert worked.

I use clipboard manager Parcelitte and I see that copied information is
there. If I selected it there (CTRL+ALT+H), then I am able to paste
using SHIFT+Insert it in gnome-terminal.

Terminator:
* SHIFT+Insert did not work.
but
* 'Past' action of Right button of mouse worked.
* CTRL+SHIFT+V worked.
* CTRL+SHIFT+Insert worked.

Parcelitte sees that copied information. If I selected it there
(CTRL+ALT+H), then I am able to paste using SHIFT+Insert it in
Terminator.

Firefox:
* Right button of mouse did not work as 'paste' actions was not allowed.
but
* SHIFT+Insert worked.

Parcelitte sees that copied information. If I selected it there
(CTRL+ALT+H), then I am able to paste using 'Past' action of Right

Gedit:
* Right button of mouse did not work as 'paste' actions was not allowed.
but
* SHIFT+Insert worked.

Parcelitte sees that copied information. If I selected it there
(CTRL+ALT+H), then I am able to paste using 'Past' action of Right
button of mouse in Gedit.

After I found out that problem I installed mono-complete, xsel and
xdotool packages. It did not help.

I thought that it is because of Gnome-terminal paste keyboard shortcut
does not work - menu not shown bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/630383,
but this bug was fixed and it happened in Firefox and Gedit.

Thanks for help.

[Bug 996832] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in

2012-05-08 Thread Viacheslav Kurenyshev
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 (Fresh installation, not upgrade) 64 bits.
My home folder is encrypted.

It worked fine until a couple of days ago since I can't login in.

It boots normally, I enter login and password (does not matter Unity or Unity
2D), press Enter.
At this moment it seems that Ubuntu starts desktop, shows some messages and
immediately goes back to login screen.
I attached the photo of this moment. One of the messages is could not write
bytes: Broken pipe. Photo is attached.

Mouse is working fine. No freeze on the screen.

I tried previous kernel as well as recovery mode. The system is up to
date, no updates are available.

I can login using CLI (for example, pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1).

I don't know which package affected, but it's critical and it would be
great if you could tell me which information I need to provide.

I am not sure after what it start happening.
Probably, I installed Cisco AnyConnect last time which worked great in all
previous versions of Ubuntu (but I used only 32 bits before). I also installed
VirtualBox.

I can provide a short video of the screen when I am trying to login.

[Bug 996832] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits. Login screen - Unity does not allow to login in

2012-05-08 Thread Viacheslav Kurenyshev
Sorry for bothering you, but I found the cause of the problem.

I had 0 available bytes in my home directory. It did not allow me to login.
I reduced reserved-blocks-percentage to 0% of /home device. It got me
additional 2.8G of space.

But I think the bug still exists.

I should be able to login and does not matter how much space I have left (0
bytes or 10G).
Maybe, we need to change the title of the bug.

[Bug 996845] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04. Time in other locations shows the time for unspecified locations .

2012-05-08 Thread Viacheslav Kurenyshev
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits.
Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the package which shows Time and Date
on the top menu.

After I enabled option Time in other locations in All Settings - Time
Date, it had UTC. I specified a city and closed the window.
After I click on Date and Clock (top menu) and notices that there are another
locations which I did not specify.

After that I opened All Settings - Time Date windows again and deleted all
locations (Screenshot 1).
When I clicked on Date and Clock (top menu) I saw two location None and the
city of my current time zone (Screenshot 2).

I think it's a bug. I understand that None is UTC time, but I did not specify
to show it so it should not be displayed.
I also did not specify Melbourne time as I already have it on the panel, so
it should not be displayed as well.

Please fix.
Both screenshots are attached as archive.

Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the package which shows Time and Date

I added city Kemerovo in All Settings - Time Date - Time in other
locations

After I click on Date and Clock (top menu) and noticed that Kemerovo has a
wrong time zone.
Russia has merged some time zones and moved several cities to other time zones.
Now, Kemerovo is in the same time zone as Novosibirsk. Currently, the
difference is +1 hour. Please fix.
