[Bug 742999] [NEW] Kubuntu performance get's really bad after awhile
Public bug reported: Hello, I had installed Kubuntu because in the past I used to use this system always, but because im a MCST I needed use Windows during studies, so I didnt use Kubuntu for some time, but still longed back to the KDE desktop and the stable Kubuntu, however this doesnt seem the case with mine system now, with just normall use it gets slow after awhile. Here's some information about mine system: Dell Studio 1558 Intel i3 M330 4GB Memory 5400rpm harddrive ( I know this is the slowest part in mine computer, however even Windows runs fine with this harddrive ) Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4500 series I do suspect xorg, because it seems to use most cpu, but i'm not sure what causes mine computer to lag, and its really frustrating, if someone has a idea off this cause please let it know, because im traveling in asia i dont have so much time to look into things, but if i have time I will let know more details if you guys help me collect them. [Bug 742999] Re: Kubuntu performance get's really bad after awhile
Okay i will define slow: It means almost un useable, because its lagging, applications will reaction horrible slow, and this seems to happen after awhile. One thing I noticed though, the computer also got very hot. I don't mean to be rude, but this not a question, this is clearly a software problem and it sounds to arrogant off you to make it a opinion, because even my girlfriend could just see that computer just started get slow, horrible and that applications would be slow. Its because off the reputation off Kubuntu that i'm very disapointed in this, this is Linux, people always bash Windows because it gets slow after some weeks, well mine Kubuntu gets slow after few hours off use, so not days, or weeks or months, even Windows 7 performance way better. And I think its a serious problem, but it not get taking serious here and you also not give some instructions what i should check, like I know in some logs there could be information. Its because im on travel i can not do much on internet and the next Kubuntu release is not stable enough yet, so I can not yet test if this problem will be in the next release, so it will probably mean as soon as i get home i will put Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium back on, because the current version off Kubuntu does not work well on mine Dell Studio 15. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/742999 Title: Kubuntu performance get's really bad after awhile -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 365527] [NEW] Jaunty freezes all the time
Public bug reported: Hello, ive reported this some few times before, I even apointed mister Shuttelworth to the bug, but they said I had other bug, I will include information reported by others, because I dont know how to shh into the problem. By fixture: I installed ssh-server to get to the bottom of this. When the computer froze, I ssh'ed into it. Surprise! It worked. It turns out that this is not a kernel freeze. Mouse moves but Caps lock does not respond. In the ssh session, I went into top and htop. Nothing suspicious at all, in fact, there's no cpu usage at all! I do even know what to go on. Then I theorized that this is a graphics hardware problem. I went to test this out by restarting GDM. [Bug 327509] Re: Kernel freezing on both ext3 and ext4, possible criminal is Firefox
Hello, Mark Shuttleworth, congratz at releasing a unstable (K)ubuntu 9.04, with 5 freezes this isnt stable at all, this bug needs serious attention, the guys above me have found usefull information, but still no one pays attention to this bug report, ive tested it on various possible things, first I testes it by installing Jaunty with ext3 and the same happend. After that I tested to see if Firefox was the one causing it, It seemed it was firefox, but that it wasnt firefox, because later I didnt run firefox, only Konqueror and still it freezed, after that I compiled kde from trunk, I had freezes when doing so, so I had to install Gnome, because my kde was broken, and build folders messed up. So I see this as a serious problem and it should get high importance, because Ubuntu 9.04 is not stable when bug like these are still around, oh its clear this bug in in xorg. The reality is like this, apport want to report a bug, but gets a error because it hasn't all the stuff for the bug its need, as far as i know this makes it hard for developers to fix bug, for example Juk crashed, so i need to report a bug as Newbie, so i report and collect info, but theres no debugging symbols, so I as newbie need to search those debugging symbols in order to give the developer a useful bug report. In this point Ubuntu doesn't add anything useful for kde, because kde bugs just get ignored, lucky i know that, i report directly to kde, but a normal user wouldn't know that, and thats bad for Kubuntu, so I wouldn't mind if Kubuntu gets same attention from Ubuntu, this is where I will get the next bug report. ** Affects: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- un-userfriendly bug, bug reporting apport application https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 317198] [NEW] Kubuntu deserve same attention as Ubuntu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop As we KDE users know, Kubuntu is just plain default KDE, And it seems we are not getting the attention we deserve, for example, lets take ubuntu 8.10 and kubuntu 8.10 live cd, i can name directly what ubuntu has more then Kubuntu, A live usb creator? Hello Ubuntu developers, why wont we get that? Next is gparted? Where is KDE partitionmanager in Kubuntu? Or Qtparted? And then we have the daily live, why does Kubuntu not has that? Are we Limburg? and Ubuntu the norther part off the Netherlands? What i mean its clear we dont get the attention we deserve, and that not good for the relationship between ubuntu and kubuntu users. So mark, if you read that, sell another website and don't go in space, and recruit some more KDE developers for Kubuntu, Because Kubuntu deserve that. How to reproduce, go to the mirrors and you wont see a kubuntu daily live, pick the 8.10 ubuntu live cd put it in your pc, and see that you have a live usb creator tool, and gparted. Next you going use the Kubuntu live cd and you going see that none off these tools are there, and i believe its only a small amount i named. This bug is very critical, and needs fixing ( Maby about 3 releases kubuntu will have the live usb creator ) ** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kubuntu deserve same attention as Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317198 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-meta in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 312583] [NEW] [Kubuntu 8.10][KDE4.2.BETA2] Display locks automatic, when watching a movie ect
Public bug reported: Hello, when i am watching a movie on VLC ( Don´t know if this happings on Dragonplayer ), then after awhile my screenlocks and screensaver popups and screen gets locked, i don´t know if this is KDE4.2 related, or ubuntu, because i found another bug claiming exact the same problem, but that was under Totem and not VLC, this is happing since awhile, i have sorted al kind off settings, and they seem to be fine, i had disabled my screensaver, but that didnt work. Going see if it works when i enabled screensaver and set timer on 200 min, but still this seems a bug, that is still not fixed, you can reproduce the bug easy, just watch a video around 40 min, it happend 2 times in this 40 min by me, so i gues it happens every 15 min? I believe this is related to Kubuntu, i can be wrong ofcourse. This is what i did when it happend, i put movie in full screen, go watch, dont touch a mouse and after a while flop, screensaver and screen gets locked. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Kubuntu 8.10][KDE4.2.BETA2] Display locks automatic, when watching a movie ect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312583 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
