[Bug 596344] [NEW] Belkin USB to ethernet adapter (F5D5055) not working
Public bug reported: This device was working with 10.04 until I ran a generic package update today. After a restart (due to a power failure) I does not work any longer. A possibly interesting fact to observe is that the traffic lights on the connected switch do show activity, but on the TCP/IP level no traffic is going through. In consequence, the interface cannot acquire an address when set to DHCP, neither can it serve IP addresses to other computers (when running a DHCP server with the interface on a static address). Unfortunately this turns my home network into a one-horse-show. Also unfortunately I failed to make a note of which exact version of the kernel I was running before the upgrade. The last upgrade before this was about 4-6 weeks ago. w...@test4-desktop:/etc/firewall$ uname -a Linux test4-desktop 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 3 22:02:19 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux w...@test4-desktop:/etc/firewall$ cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: linux-image (not installed) Regression: Yes Reproducible: No ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. Hi John, Tried that already, no difference. Is it possible that firefox doesn't like the /usr/lib/ path being on a link? I ran out of space and had to move the whole lot to another partition. [Bug 60138] Re: Firefox will not start under Dapper 6.06
I presume that -l actually means -I (for Info). The output is the same for mozilla-browser, mozilla-firefox and firefox: dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `mozilla-browser': No such file or directory dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `mozilla-firefox': No such file or directory dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `firefox': No such file or directory firefox was installed using synaptic (and it was then uninstalled and re-installed, using apt-get). I noticed that I get exactly the same for whatever package name I enter. [Bug 60138] Firefox will not start under Dapper 6.06
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox After upgrading to 6.06, Firefox will not start at all. Whenever I start it, the cursor changes to the "sandclock" for approx. 30s and then reverts back to normal, but no Firefox. I first found out that it was unable to find 3 of its libraries: libmozjs.so, libxpcom.so and libxpcom_core.so. I couldn't find any fault with the firefox startup script, but somehow it was simply unable to see the libraries, so I simply copied them into a path where they could be found. I checked the results with ldd and all looked find. However, it still doesn't start. I tried to follow the instructions on how to get a stack trace, but it doesn't crash, it simply exits with code 1. No further information could be found. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Firefox will not start under Dapper 6.06 https://launchpad.net/bugs/60138 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59268] upgrade failed for postfix, mailx and mantis
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager Last night I upgraded from 5.10 to 6.06, using Synaptic. During the process it was reported that the upgrade had failed for postfix, mailx and mantis and on each occasion I was asked to report a bug for this. So here we go. Unfortunately I will not be able to attach the upgrade logfiles, as the upgrade has also caused another serious problem: all desktop applications and all terminal windows started from Gnome now insist on directing their traffic through a (non-existant) proxy at local IP 192.168.100.2. In consequence, Firefox is not operational and I submitting this bug from my Windows desktop (running on a separate PC with no access to the Linux filesystem). I am not a Linux fundi, so no idea how I could get these files across (if anyone can help, I will gladly submit them here). ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- upgrade failed for postfix, mailx and mantis https://launchpad.net/bugs/59268 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
