[Bug 560250] Re: X with nvidia fails to start on Geforce G102M

2010-05-01 Thread ZeroBeat
Problem is still in the final 10.04

Solution:
Boot the live-cd using params nomodeset xforcevesa
Install lucid
Reboot using params nomodeset xforcevesa
Install th proprietary NVIDIA driver
Switch to console and copy attached xorg.conf
Reboot and configure your display by using NVIDIA X Server Settings
(Administration)

So please implement xforcevesa to the options (F6) of the live-cd.

Best regards
ZB

[Bug 560122] Re: lucid beta2: impossible to install on notebook K50IN

2010-04-14 Thread ZeroBeat
After doing part 2 and restarting gdm i got the following error:

Ubuntu running on low graphics mode (i hope, it's the right translation
form this: German Ubuntu läuft mit niedrigen Grafikeinstellungen).

(EE) [drm] failed to open device
(EE) No devices detected

Attached Xorg.0.log file

By the way, karmic is doing a fine job and i'm shure, lucid will do the same.

Yours sincerely
Mike

[Bug 542639] Re: 10.04 crashed during boot (wrong disply resolution)

2010-04-03 Thread ZeroBeat
Hi Bryce.
Thanks a lot for your kind answer.
Well, i'm trying to fix the problem for myself and that's the cause of the
significant changes i have made to get the system working.

There are no troubles - only solutions ..

Next time i'll report the original logs.
Well, Ubuntu is great. System (current version 9.10) works nearly perfect (no
crashes and very stable) and I'm shure next lts. (10.04) will do the same good
job.

Yours sincerely
Mike (ZeroBeat)

Hi Bryce.
Could we try it again.
This time, I've made no changes to the system (please take a look at attached
file).
Picture is the same like boot3.jpg (corrupted boot screen).

Yours sincerely

[Bug 542639] Re: 10.04 crashed during boot (wrong disply resolution)

2010-04-02 Thread ZeroBeat
Since daily-live (lucid desktop amd64 01.04.2010) first boot-screen uses wrong
resolution (attached picture).
Error message are not shown during boot anymore (but they're still in log).
When boot up sequence switches to the X display, the screen becomes corrupted.
There are portions of the screen from the last time the system ran, but they
are scattered across the screen. I can hear the Ubuntu startup sounds, so the
system is coming up.
(take a look at #542950).
But I can switch to console and enter commands.
blacklist=vga16fb didn't work
nouveau.modeset=0 didn't work
Best regards
ZB

hm, very strange:

added nouveau.nomodeset=0 to boot (well, i know, it's a wrong parameter)

system responds during boot:
nouveau: unknown parameter 'nomodeset'

but system starts without corrupted screen and works fine.
