[Bug 130398] Re: Allow remounting of uncleanly unmounted XFS drive
Running Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit I plugged in my External Hard Drive vs. USB last night. I had 1.5 TB of data that I wanted to Rsync to my Desktop Hard Drive. This morning I went to check the status of the transfer. I noticed that it didn't finish, rsync showed me a lot of Input/Output Errors: rsync: send_files failed to open "/media/d8117361-193e-4571-afb0-50c4a461ba1e/zubin/Downloads/Paulo Coelho-Eleven Minutes/CD 2/01.mp3": Input/output error (5) I was wondering what happened here and realized that the USB External Hard Drive was no longer mounted for some reason. I unplugged and replugged the HD back in. The drive would be recognized but would not mount. I then tried to mount it via the command line, but got the following output: zubin@zubin-main ~ $ sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdd1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so so I ran a tail on syslog and found that this system now has a duplicate UUID and can not mount: zubin@zubin-main ~ $ sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdd1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so I ended up mounting with the nouuid option, but this is not a solution for most end users. zubin@zubin-main ~ $ sudo mount -o nouuid /dev/sdd1 /mnt I haven't rebooted my machine... not actually sure if that would help clearing up this problem, but this should be fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130398 Title: Allow remounting of uncleanly unmounted XFS drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/130398/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 362875] Re: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x308c with error -71.
I am facing the same issue/similar, and can recreate this at will. Hardware: Desktop PC on AMD Phenom II X4 940 with 4GB RAM. Network connection is through a USB Wifi dongle Linksys WUSB54GC using a Ralink chipset (RT2500? http://ralink.rapla.net/). Internet connection is a 1 Mbps plan giving about 120kbps download speed. Kernel: 2.6.32-24-generic (x86_64) Issue: The Internet connection works great but gets disconnected on using torrent, in which case the USB dongle light will go off, Internet connection will stop working (no dropbox, no browser activity) even though the network indicator is showing connected. Some points - 1. Removing the dongle and pluggingt it back restores the connection. 2. Normal net usage does not kill the net (dropbox, browser, youtube in many tabs, gwibber, skype, updates etc) 3. The connection is invariably lost between 5 mins to a few hours after a torrent program is used (transmission or deluge) 4. I started trying to fix this by googling the right settings for torrent - have changed number of connections, max download upload speed and turning off DHT but the problem persists. 5. The log file viewer indicates a problem with the USB dongle drivers (attached logs) 6. I googled around and found some forums that suggest blacklising the kernel modules rt2x00usb and rt2x00lib (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/post/2373162/&ei=XQiHTJ_bOIP0tgPK78SrCg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CCgQ7gEwAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Drt2x00usb%2Bvendor%2Brequest:%2BError%2B-%2BVendor%2BRequest%2B0x07%2Bfailed%2Bfor%2Boffset%2B0x308c%2Bwith%2Berror%2B-110%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26prmd%3Ddf) 7. Blacklisting the modules should have no effect, they are loaded by rt73usb anyway, however blacklisting them did alleviate the issue, even if it has not gone away 8. Could not use ndiswrapper as it conflicted with rt73usb and I had no clue how to remove the driver, blacklisting it did not work. I'd like to avoid ndiswrapper anyway. ** Attachment added: "Syslog Text (Full)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/362875/+attachment/1555891/+files/syslog%20sep%208.txt -- rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x308c with error -71. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362875 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 331889] [NEW] Lost MP3 support after installing new version of libxine1-ffmpeg_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libxine1-ffmpeg Hey, i'm running Kubuntu Intrepid 32-bit Desktop. I've also installed KDE 4.2 via the instructions on Kubuntu.org by adding the appropriate PPA source to my sources.list . Don't think that has anything to do the with the issue, unless phonon didn't like the package - doubt it though. I did an update through Adept in Ubuntu. It wanted to do an update on the following xine packages: libxine1 libxine1-bin libxine1-console libxine1-ffmpeg libxine1-misc-plugins libxine1-x After updating them i lost mp3 support in Amarok 1.4.10 and in Kaffeine 0.8.7 Luckily I had another machine with the older libxine packages. I transferred those to my computer with the problem, installed it and then got my mp3 support back. I believe the culprit was libxine1-ffmpeg_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb These were the updates that Adept downloaded: libxine1_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb libxine1-bin_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb libxine1-console_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb libxine1-ffmpeg_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb libxine1-misc-plugins_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb libxine1-x_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1_i386.deb I then reverted to the following packages which resolved the problem: libxine1_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb libxine1-bin_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb libxine1-console_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb libxine1-ffmpeg_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb libxine1-misc-plugins_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb libxine1-x_1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1_i386.deb Further info: zu...@zubin-home-desktop:~/Downloads/debs/libxine$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 8.10 Release:8.10 I've reverted back to the old packge; don't know if the following is helpful: zu...@zubin-home-desktop:~/Downloads/debs/libxine$ apt-cache policy libxine1-ffmpeg libxine1-ffmpeg: Installed: 1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1 Candidate: 1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1 Version table: 1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1intrepid1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid-updates/main Packages *** 1.1.15-0ubuntu3.1 0 500 http://security.ubuntu.com intrepid-security/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.1.15-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages Hopefully we don't have any more messup's with such a vital piece of support on the Desktop versions of Ubuntu. The update manager downloaded 1331 files and failed while installing the packages. The terminal output was "Fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descriptor) on X server :0.0." and a pop-up box saying the upgrade had failed and the system was probably unusable. (More detailed info should be in the attachements.) The system was unresponsive and a screenshot could not be taken. Once I had logged out, the system would not allow me to log in as xserver kept failing. Futher -> I failed to rescue the system and have subsequently used the 8.04 live cd to completely reinstall Hardy. I used the backup packages from the earlier install to upgrade to 8.10 and the upgrade worked (except for a warning about evolution-alarm-notify).
