[Bug 1408275] Re: Unable to log in with lightdm
Sorry for being fuzzy. This is what happens: # lightdm greeting screen comes up after boot as expected. # trying to log in from the lightdm greeting screen (with whatever user to whatever desktop environment) # X11 is stopped, screen falls back to vt (black screen with a few white characters on it) for half a second or so. [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates
Well, IMHO bluetooth is one big mess in ubuntu. I'm using a BT headset for nearly 7 years now, and it has NEVER worked without some quirks. Even this would be OK for me, but the quirks differ not only between releases but also between updates. Hence you can never be sure if the headset will work on any day... (BTW, why the hell we are STILL sitting here with the legacy Bluez 4.x stack? I guess an upgrade to Bluez 5.x could not make the state of affairs more encumbering.) The one and only good news that I've got that I SUCCESSFULLY USED MY BT HEADSET YESTERDAY (17.05.2014) on an up-to-date ubuntu 14.04/trusty. This is trick/quirk that made things work: pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover Given that, there are a couple of ticket out here that points into this direction: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1274613 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/948613 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/946449 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283003 Title: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1283003/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I'm using a Samsung NC20 since a couple of years now. It has never been easy with X11 but with Ubuntu 13.10/saucy it has become an expert issue to get this netbook running. Notice that this is a regression from Ubuntu 13.04/raring where openchrome was working more or less flawless. As openchrome fails [https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- openchrome/+bug/1251849], I forced the vesa driver with the following in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/42-vesa.conf Section Device Identifier Configured Video Device Driver vesa EndSection Section Monitor Identifier Configured Monitor Option PanelSize 1280x800 Option PreferredMode 1280x800 Option DefaultModes true EndSection Section Screen Identifier Default Screen Monitor Configured Monitor Device Configured Video Device DefaultDepth 24 SubSection Display Virtual 1280 800 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection However, even with the vesa driver, X11 bails out and even the console is not usable afterwards. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-vesa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251853 Title: [VX820, VIA] no X11 with vesa on Samsung NC20 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-vesa/+bug/1251853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Dear sirjoseca, I rechecked this carefully. For me (as a Kubuntu/KDE user) using export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY='' and afterwards starting eclipse makes things A LOT better but the problem does NOT go away. I've still got spurious Java VM crashes, most commonly with SWT 'cancel' buttons. But I have to admit that this is relatively rare. [Bug 576728] Re: Trying to install package from jdk-6u20-linux-x64.bin fails
The problem with the proposed approach (using sun-java*) is that there is *no* such package for lucid. To be honest, I understand that debian is for 'open source' software, and their support for application not matching *their* definition of 'open source' has always been flacky. However, I can't image that I'm the only only who *needs* a JAVA6 (or even better a JAVA6 JDK). As there are no packages for lucid, and there is no easy way to make them on my own (as java-package *is* broken), the state-of-affairs is uncomfortable. I would like to see the java-package taken over and revived by ubuntu... -- Trying to install package from jdk-6u20-linux-x64.bin fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576728 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
