[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-04-21 Thread Akaname
During different states of updates in Ubuntu 14.04 I experienced all
bugs from original bug description (pairing works, but no audio) and
also from comment #1 and comment #4 (pairing does not work, no devices
found).

This actually solved my problems:

sudo mv /etc/bluetooth /etc/bluetooth.backup
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bluez

After a reboot everything is working again. The /etc/bluetooth directory
is empty now.

If this does not work for you, just move back the bluetoth.backup
directory to it's original place.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-03-21 Thread Akaname
Same problem for me. No devices found. Until and including Ubuntu 13.10
no problems with bluetooth audio.

Of course, hardware key for WiFi and Bluetooth is activated.

State On and Off in Unity Bluetooth menu and Bluetooth dialog seem
to be not in sync. If I change one of them, the change is not reflected
in the other. Perhaps switching to On does not work in both places?

HP 635, Ubuntu 14.04, all updates installed.

[Bug 581395] Re: Rhythmbox: Error while saving song information. Internal data stream error.

2010-11-09 Thread Akaname
It seems like rhythmbox damages the files while causing error while
saving song information. After a fresh install of Ubuntu Maverick with
Rhythmbox 0.13.1 on a new multicore laptop I experienced the same bug
again on a freshly oggenc-encoded .oga file.

After that I checked the file playback. It played in rhythmbox, but it
failed in totem.

So I checked the freshly encoded file with ogginfo:

ogginfo /home/suu/srv/music/repositories/1/items/1021/13.oga

All other freshly encoded files were ok. After checking my complete collection
of 2+ .oga songs with ogginfo i found 5 old defect files. They all were
playable in rhythmbox, failed to play in totem and showed the same errors in
ogginfo.

[Bug 581395] Re: Rhythmbox: Error while saving song information. Internal data stream error.

2010-11-09 Thread Akaname
By the way I've got the original 2+ .oga files on a file server
within their original state after creation. They all were created 6
months ago via flac / metaflac --add-replay-gain / oggenc. As precaution
no editings after that. I learned from previous tagging bugs of amarok
several years ago, that damaged hundreds of songs.

I checked the original files with ogginfo: The original files are *not*
damaged.

The local copies on laptop only were played and edited in rhythmbox. No
other tagging softwares.

[Bug 581395] Re: Rhythmbox: Error while saving song information. Internal data stream error.

2010-11-09 Thread Akaname
As an experiment I tagged 55 undamaged .oga files with rhythmbox, got
only one error message and 55 damaged .oga files. This, as mentioned
before, only happens when rhythmbox's music library contains a big
number of files (in my case now 2+), not with only a few hundred
files.

Rhythmbox's tagging concept should be radically changed.

On my HP 625 I don't have problems with wireless lan. Which kernel version do
you have? At the moment I'm running version 2.6.32-25.43. If you have problems
with version 2.6.32-25.44 or higher, you should downgrade and/or file a new bug
report.

@markusd112
Did you try installing the packages from linux-proposed repository?

As suggested in

the problem was solved by removing console output in all

2010-05-17 Thread akaname
If I disable Watch my library for new files in Rhythmbox preferences,
the problem is raised less frequently. It seems to have something to do
with collection size and filesystem activity, like mentioned in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/123460 .

Ok, not everybody has a collection of 2 songs. But as Rhythmbox is
the default music player in Ubuntu and Ubuntu is used by more and more
people this problem should become present to more and more people, too.

[Bug 581395] [NEW] Rhythmbox: Error while saving song information. Internal data stream error.

2010-05-16 Thread akaname
Public bug reported:

ProblemType: Bug

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/rhythmbox
Package: rhythmbox 0.12.8-0ubuntu4
Uname: Linux 2.6.34-020634rc6-generic #020634rc6 SMP Fri Apr 30 10:09:34 UTC

When trying to save song information for ogg vorbis files in Rhythmbox I get
the following error message (after a few seconds):
Error while saving song information. Internal data stream error.

The ogg vorbis files and their parent directories are on local hard drives and
have existing write permissions.
They are originally encoded with oggenc and tagged with vorbiscomment. All play
nicely within Rhythmbox. All other tag editors work without problems.

This makes Rhythmbox unusable for editing ogg vorbis files. Other file
formats not tested.

I hope that there's a solution for all those different tagging problems
within Rhythmbox (like mentioned in other bug reports).

Thanks for your work!

[Bug 383876] Re: pulseaudio/alsa randomly blocks or mutes sound in jaunty

2009-06-06 Thread akaname
Ok. After playing around a while with alsa, I managed to make my
soundcard unusable. Now, on every restart the soundcard was muted and I
had no control on the volume, as stated above.

Now I followed this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=843012

I found out, that sudo alsa force-reload did the trick. Immediately
the soundcard was able to output audio files.

After the next restart there was no sound, again. The pulseaudio mixer
was set to 0. I set it to 100 and voilĂ , I had audio output.

I thought, now it's solved. Let's try a restart. After the restart I had
the first problem again. A muted soundcard with no possibility to
unmute. Pulseaudio mixer and any other mixer weren't unmuted or set to
0.

No question, sudo alsa force-reload did the trick again.

But this should only be a temporary solution. Pulseaudio should play
better with alsa, or alsa with pulseaudio, or both with the soundcard.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

  updated from ubuntu intrepid 8.10,
  newest updates,
  pulseaudio 1:0.9.14-0ubuntu20.1,
  alsa-utils 1.0.18-1ubuntu11

  In intrepid pulseaudio and alsa worked fine. Now they are broken.
  There are several similar bug reports i read before. But this seems to be
another problem.

  After a clean restart (no suspend or hibernate) there are two possible
  ways for pulseaudio and alsa, and the decision, which one is gone, seems
  to be random:

  * 1st way
  One time playback of audio and video files works fine in vlc, totem, amarok,
firefox flash addon.

  * 2nd way
  And the other time playback of audio files looks fine, but there is no sound.
Perhaps it plays on a channel/card that's not existing. Perhaps something is
muted. Perhaps there's a misunderstanding between pulseaudio, alsa and the
soundcard.

  Notice: beep (via apt-get install beep) always works fine via soundcard
  (not the system speaker).

  I checked several mixers: gnome-volume-control, alsamixer. Everything is
  unmuted and set to 100.

  * Pulseaudio Mixer
  Master = unmuted, 100

  * Alsa Mixer (Intel)
  Master, Master M, Headphon, PCM, Line, CD, Mic, Phone, IEC958 P, PC Speak,
Aux = unmuted, 100

  * Oss Mixer
  Speaker, PCM-2, In-gain, Digital-1 = unmuted, 100

- What does't work
+ What doesn't work
  * alsamixer -c 0 for setting the front volume to 100, because there is
no front
  * purging and reinstalling alsa and pulseaudio

  It's driving me crazy. Rebooting 3 times for a working audio playback is
  not what i wanted.

alsa-utils 1.0.18-1ubuntu11

In intrepid pulseaudio and alsa worked fine. Now they are broken.
There are several similar bug reports i read before. But this seems to be
another problem.

After a clean restart (no suspend or hibernate) there are two possible
ways for pulseaudio and alsa, and the decision, which one is gone, seems
to be random:

* 1st way
One time playback of audio and video files works fine in vlc, totem, amarok,
firefox flash addon.

* 2nd way
And the other time playback of audio files looks fine, but there is no sound.

* Pulseaudio Mixer
Master = unmuted, 100

* Alsa Mixer (Intel)
Master, Master M, Headphon, PCM, Line, CD, Mic, Phone, IEC958 P, PC Speak, Aux
= unmuted, 100

* Oss Mixer
Speaker, PCM-2, In-gain, Digital-1 = unmuted, 100

What does't work
* alsamixer -c 0 for setting the front volume to 100, because there is no
front
* purging and reinstalling alsa and pulseaudio

It's driving me crazy. Rebooting 3 times for a working audio playback is
not what i wanted.

Here are my sound devices:

[Bug 339717] [NEW] ubuntu login alert sound blocks pulseaudio

2009-03-08 Thread akaname
Public bug reported:

If I press the backspace key in an empty username or password field in
the ubuntu login screen, there's a short alert beep via audio device. If
this beep was played one time, in a new ubuntu session the complete
audio output via pulseaudio is blocked (or at least moved to a not
existing sound device)

Then I can play audio files in different audio programs (for example
totem or vlc), but I won't hear them.

All audio preferences in ubuntu sound preferences and multimedia
systems selector are set to pulseaudio. The only solution for me was to
reboot.

If I don't trigger the alert beep in the login screen, everything works
fine.

This problem exists for ubuntu 8.10, updated from several former ubuntu
versions.
