@hui: okay, now it works, had to do "sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/intel/sof
/sof-cnl.ri /lib/firmware/intel/sof/sof-cfl.ri", instead of "sudo ln -s
/lib/firmware/intel/sof-cnl.ri /lib/firmware/intel/sof-cfl.ri" as in #12

[Bug 1733888] Re: iwlwifi Error sending STATISTICS_CMD: time out after 2000ms.

2017-12-29 Thread Arnau Villoslada
Taking it back, after almost one week of testing the bug sometimes comes
back. I use my laptop on different places and I've noticed that in some
networks the problem is more likely to appear than in others. In some
the problem never appears, it might be pure chance though.

This problem often comes together with kernel freezes where not even
SysRq commands respond.

I'm not sure if I have to or should post logs nor which logs to post to
complement this comments. I'll keep an eye here and post anything you
need, however, my logs look extremely similar to the ones of Ville
Ranki.

I think it's also important to mention that I have a fresh installation,
1 week old, no funny business there.

[Bug 1733888] Re: iwlwifi Error sending STATISTICS_CMD: time out after 2000ms.

2017-12-23 Thread Arnau Villoslada
I've tested it with 4.14, works like a charm:
$ uname -r
4.14.0-041400-generic

I also tried it with 4.15-rc4 but no luck there, it has the same problem.
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.15-rc4/

So far it works but if I were to encounter any problems I'll post the
details.

[Bug 1444105] [NEW] virtualbox-dkms 4.3.18-dfsg-2ubuntu2: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2015-04-14 Thread Arnau Bosch
Public bug reported:

the dkms process failed to build virtualbox module with the new kernel
4.0.0, i tryed to install with the option --resintall and the error
persists

Loading new virtualbox-4.3.18 DKMS files...
First Installation: checking all kernels...
Building only for 4.0.0
Building initial module for 4.0.0
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 4.0.0 (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.3.18/build/make.log for more information.
 * Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules

   [ OK ]
 * Starting VirtualBox kernel modules

   * No suitable module for running kernel found

This too happens with the kernel 3.19.2 and 3.19.3. In this versions of
the kernel before compile the new kernel i need to uninstall this
packages, boot the last kernel, build the new kernel, boot with the new
kernel and reinstall virtualbox. But now with version 4.0.0 the problem
persists, now can't install virtualbox. This is the same process i do
for install all of versions of nvidia drivers.

I think is the same bug number 1268257. I think the problem it's not the nvidia
driver package or virtualbox, it's the dkms process.
I attached make.log.

I don't have wine installed, and the problem persists with the last
kernel 3.18.4 and 3.18.5, and the last nvidia drivers, 346.35, i think
the problem is the dkms, Today i updated the virtualbox and the module
was compiled fine. I think the unique solution for the moment is: sudo
apt-get install nvidia-* nvidia-*-uvm --reinstall

El 03/02/15 a les 14:51, Zero ha escrit:
I have recently been having trouble with getting Wine1.7 to coexist with

Wine. No one has yet made the connection here. Might be worth looking
 at.

[Bug 1356688] [NEW] nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu7.1: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build

2014-08-13 Thread Arnau Bosch
Public bug reported:

When i updated the system to kernel 3.13.0-34, the package
nvidia-331-updates failed to build and i need to reinstall, this also
happened when i upgrated to kernel 3.13.0-33. After reinstall the nvidia
package the system rename the xorg.conf to xorg.conf.date, i need to
rename to xorg.conf to start the desktop. This also happens when i
change any option of nvidia-settings. Sometimes when i restart the
system rename another time the xorg.conf to xorg.conf.date and the
only option to start successfully the deskop is enter by the command
startx, and then reboot and work perfectly, when the nvidia driver was
updated this happens too. I don't know if this is a new bug.

[Bug 1356689] [NEW] nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu7.1: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build

2014-08-13 Thread Arnau Bosch
Public bug reported:

I'm using xubuntu 14.04, I have an sli of two gtx 770, but sli is
disabled, i'm using two monitors. When i updated the system to kernel
3.13.0-34, the package nvidia-331-updates failed to build and i need to
reinstall, this also happened when i upgrated to kernel 3.13.0-33. After
reinstall the nvidia package the system rename the xorg.conf to
xorg.conf.date, i need to rename to xorg.conf to start the desktop.
This also happens when i change any option of nvidia-settings. Sometimes
when i restart the system rename another time the xorg.conf to
xorg.conf.date and the only option to start successfully the deskop is
enter by the command startx, and then reboot and work perfectly, when
the nvidia driver was updated this happens too. I don't know if this is
a new bug.

[Bug 1277553] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort()

2014-03-13 Thread Arnau Bosch
the bug description is not the same of my bug, let's see, the xubuntu
reported this bug, but i'm having problems to init de X server with the
lastest nvidia drivers, it occur time after time, and the only time i
can login with lightdm is when my system checks the filesystems,
probably the system needs more time to init, adding a sleep commands can
resolve the problem, if you need any log, send me a message, i'm sure
i'm not talking of the same bug, with the 13.10 the same. only happen
with the lastest version of the driver of nvidia, if i install de 313
this not happen. i'm not sure if the problem is that but my system init
too fast or something like that.

[Bug 1178825] [NEW] [USB-Audio - Plantronics GameCom 780] Terrible support for this headset

2013-05-10 Thread Arnau
Public bug reported:

Today I bought a Plantronics GameCom 780 headset, I pluged into the USB
port whishing it would work out of the box, but it didn't properly.
First of all, I'm using Kubuntu 13.04, Linux Kernel version is 3.8.0-19,
and, for example, I can't hear nothing if volume is less than 24%, if I
put it at 20% I won't hear anything, it gets muted. Micprohone is
working quite well, but the function Loudness isn't working, I typed
Alsamixer and I selected the soundcard of the headset, Loudness appears
there but it appears desactivated, and I can't enable it :/

My problems seems to be similar to this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/961481

Do you know if this will be solved in future versions of the Linux
Kernel? maybe with a new PulseAudio version? what about Alsamixer? I'm
new in Linux, and this kind of problems are terrible, I know it's not
Linux fault, it's GameCom fault, they should make better support for
Linux...

Thank you (sorry for my bad English)

[Bug 1155327] Re: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt()

2013-04-30 Thread Arnau
@costamagnagianfranco: I managed to install skype again removing this and other
files that apt-get was complaining about, thanks.
I tried then to change the LD_PRELOAD path as @Gunnar said:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1

but the library in not there neither.

I looked for it and I can find it here

/usr/lib/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib32/libGL.so.1

which means that now does exist under i386-linux-gnu. Maybe because I
installed ia32-libs? I don't know, I've tried so many things.

Anyway, the line
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 skype
continues throwing error:
zsh: segmentation fault (core dumped)
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1 skype

and the same error using the other two paths.

[Bug 435930] Re: Guest session does not warn about temporary nature of files

2013-01-11 Thread Arnau Vàzquez
My mother hit this bug this week when a cousin came home for an afternoon of
work and the next day... it was all gone!
They called me and I thought: it makes sense, Mac OS guest session also deletes
everything, maybe they didn't read the warning... but let me check. WHAT? No
warning anywhere. Hard to defend a design decision like this...

Then I thought: maybe it's because their system is using 11.10, for sure
it must be resolved now and I can defend my beloved Ubuntu. Silly me!
This bug, which is probably ridiculously easy to solve (**2 dialog
boxes**), is opened since 2009, and not only that... in Launchpad it is
considered a nice to have. Left me speechless.

I've been using Ubuntu since 5.04 and I love how it has progressed, it's
so polished now and so friendly *on the surface* for even the most
unexperienced users [ok there's the Unity love/hate thing]. I thought it
had managed to merge the best of the Open Source philosophy with a
strong user-oriented product vision, and that it would only be a matter
of time that people would see this, maybe with Ubuntu running on their
phones, same as the iPhone brought people to OSX. But I was wrong,
otherwise this would be a critical-level bug and no new distro would
ship without it fixed.

Now you can say: why don't you fix it yourself, this is how OpenSource works,
etc, etc. But please note:
1) AFAIK some people are paid to work on Ubuntu,
2) gunnarhj **already solved this bug** in his Forums thread as a comment
**from 2010** points out. All it takes is a Product Owner / UX manager to say:
bring it in. But I guess that figure doesn't exist (I thought it was Mark S.)
and so the user experience for people who don't know what 'sudo' is suffers and
Ubuntu/Linux remains a niche OS for the geeks.

Best wishes,
Arnau

don't take any effect, and unchecking the OpenGL option makes the
application crash.

[Bug 46846] Re: Emblems get cut when scaled to a zoom = 150% (refresh issue)

2009-11-07 Thread arnau
I'm sorry to say that the bug is still present on 150% zoom with Humanity theme

It took me not so much time playing with the windows (minimize, refresh, move,
unfocus windows, etc) to make it appear.
I took a screenshoot.
Hope it helps

I think we should disable 150% view or fix this bug, otherwise gnome gives the

[Bug 396252] Re: Firefox 3.5 (Shiretoko): middle-click on link opens _two_ tabs

2009-08-16 Thread arnau
I got the same problem.

Completely new profile.
No extensions.
Ubuntu Karmic 64bit
Firefox 3.5 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2)
Gecko/20090810 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.2

Just clicking any link on any page (including this) with middle button makes
two (sometimes three) new tabs appear.
I don't see any pattern... most of the times two new tabs appear, rarely works

[Bug 410669] Re: Files incoming through nautilus-share should be created with user ownership, instead of nobody

2009-08-08 Thread arnau
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 268663 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268663

** Description changed:

This is a very annoying and long standing bug (from at least two ubuntu
releases ago), that it could be easily fixed.
I hope that it can get some attention from Paper Cuts side.

When creating a new share with Nautilus once you create a Public folder
you cannot edit any of the contents created by guest users.

The files will have ownership set to user nobody and group nogroup,
making it imposible to delete or modify by the user who created the share
folder.
Of course that from command line you can change that, but it is very annoying
having to change permissions from command line, before being able to edit any
file on the sharing folder.

Also this is a security issue as a guest user can fill up your hard
drive with junk and the owner of the share won't be able to delete it or
  move it (easily of course).

- This bug is already triaged from long time ago in (but it seems that nobody
is working on it)

working on it)

[Bug 374072] Re: Error when trying to view an embedded java

2009-05-09 Thread Carlos Arnau Ros

I tried deleting the plugin IcedTeaPlugin and the package java-jre6-plugin but
instead of going better, everything has gone worse: (

I have reinstalled firefox and the bar would not update addresses as
addresses were changing (eg. showing www.google.com when i was on yahoo
website and the previous page visited was google). Also buttons for
previous and next page don't displayed correctly . Not to mention that
bookmarks menu appeared empty.

After creating a new profile with firefox-ProfileManager, I
reinstalled the package java-jre6-plugin and all is working properly,
including java.

I saw this 2 errors if i use the old profile:

Error: [Exception... Component returned failure code: 0x80570016

I kept the default profile files, if you need some to investigate, do
not hesitate to ask.

Ps: Sorry for my bad english ;)

[Bug 268663] Re: files incoming through nautilus-share should be created with user ownership, instead of nobody

2009-01-15 Thread arnau
I reinstalled my whole system (ubuntu 8.10), and now I can delete the files
with no owner on the public folder.
But if I try doing Cut and paste somewhere else on a file left in the public
folder (has owner: nobody group: nobody) it still gives the error access denied.

Re: [Bug 268663] Re: files incoming through nautilus-share should be created with user ownership, instead of nobody

2008-12-24 Thread arnau
Yes, this is the problem. Once somebody places any file into this folder,
this file has owner: nobody group: nobody.
So this means that I cannot delete (because I don't own them) the files
created on my share folder! (I need to go to command line chown, etc...) If
some user wants to do it they can fill up my computer's harddrive with junk
I cannot delete!

How exactly is it a security issue? Certainly not by filling up space by
a non-user account, since this is means no threat to the user.

The shares you've shown, are standard open shares. Please give more
 details on what you mean.

I can't stand how such a big bug is marked as low.
For most people ubuntu, in the current status, won't have such a basic thing
like the static ip address functionallity.

Simple things like this will make a lot of people think that ubuntu
sucks.

[Bug 203938] Re: Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement

2008-03-22 Thread arnau
Thank you Sebastien,

I've been reading in the upstream bug and it seems that this thing has
been discussed for a while, but I don't see any clear conclusion.

First of all reading the patent 6061061 below, I don't thing that we
would be using any temporary window so this patent shouldn't apply,
perhaps that how KDE implemented it.

patent 6061061
A new behavior in a graphical user interface allows the user to open and close
enclosures, while dragging an object. When the user pauses, gestures, or rolls
over a hot spot on top of an icon or text representing a closed enclosure, a
TEMPORARY WINDOW for the closed enclosure is sprung open to allow the user to
browse inside the enclosure and possible open another enclosure contained
within the temporary window. This process can be carried on throughout a
hierarchy of windows as the user browses for a destination window for the drag
operation. All of the TEMPORARY WINDOWS except the destination are closed when
the mouse button is released, signaling the end of a drag. The user may close
sprung open windows by simply moving the cursor out of the sprung open window,
or by making some other gesture. If an enclosure to be sprung open was
previously open on the desktop, the previously opened window may zoom over to
the current mouse position, and then return to its original position when the
user mouse is out of the window.

I think that making hovering an object over another one for X time the
same effect as a click, is a much more general (and powerful) feature
and this patent doesn't apply.

[Bug 203938] Re: Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement

2008-03-22 Thread arnau
I checked both patents 6,061,061 and 5,583,984 and in both cases the
description is the same. In the abstract of both patents they always remark
about opening TEMPORARY Windows. That's not our case from my point of view. We
could just left open all our windows, so they wouldn't be temporal.
In both patents they don't say nothing about making the same action as clicking
buttons while dragging an object over it.

[Bug 202605] Re: Network Manager Applet Has Trouble With Static IP Address

2008-03-21 Thread arnau
I also confirm this problem

In order to setup the network we can do two things:
Assuming that our network interface is eth0, go to terminal and do:

sudo ifup eth0

everytime we boot our computer.

or we can also do as a permanent solution

Add to the /etc/network/interfaces file

auto eth0 as in the example below

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0 This line is missing in the
original file.
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
---

REBOOT our computer.

In order to not having problems Network Manager should generate with the
auto eth0 line included.

[Bug 203938] Re: Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement

2008-03-20 Thread arnau
I've been looking for the patent you mentioned.
Could you pass me a link regarding this patents information?

I've found that yahoo is trying to patent some kind of smart drag and
drop but I couldn't understand what is all about.

Anyway the Gnome Taskbar already has this kind of behaviour, while
dragging any file over the taskbar, windows get maximized or focused
automatically after waiting 1 sec. I don't know if this already affects
the problematic patent.

What will be next? Patent double click? xDD

[Bug 203938] [NEW] Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement

2008-03-19 Thread arnau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I would be great to improve nautilus drag and drop features when trying
to move or copy files within folders.

My suggestion is to implement automatic folder opening while dragging
files.

We have a folder structure as follows:

Root folder:
--A folder
---B folder
---C folder
--Text file

We want to move or copy the text file into the C folder.

It would be great that if we only have one Nautilus window opened that
shows the contents of the root folder (A folder and Text file), we could
move the text file just dragging it into the A folder, wait for 1 second
to open A folder automatically and then dropping the file into B folder.
Like in Mac OS X.

[Bug 203938] Re: Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement

2008-03-19 Thread arnau
Just making that while dragging any item and waiting 1 sec over a menu
or icon the same effect as mouse click (or double click over icon) would
give us a very powerful tool.

We could do for example when sending an email:

Drag a file by clicking and holding the left mouse button.
Move the mouse over the evolution Icon.
Wait 1 sec (Evolution which was closed, opens)
Move mouse over new message button
Wait 1 sec (New message window opens)
Release mouse button.
Now we have a new message with the file we selected as attachment.

This is just an example of which type of things we could do.
