[Bug 1828929] Re: upload speed is reported wrong

2021-03-09 Thread betteropensource
I also had this problem.

Following the instructions on the official website it works.

Go here: https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

First, remove actual speedtest if installed.

Follow the official instructions:
sudo apt-get install gnupg1 apt-transport-https dirmngr
export INSTALL_KEY=379CE192D401AB61
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys $INSTALL_KEY
echo "deb https://ookla.bintray.com/debian generic main" | sudo tee
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/speedtest.list
sudo apt-get update
# Other non-official binaries will conflict with Speedtest CLI
# Example how to remove using apt-get
# sudo apt-get remove speedtest-cli
sudo apt-get install speedtest

Run speedtest

2020-09-06 Thread betteropensource
It occurs also on my new Lenovo thinkpad e495 with Ubuntu 20.04 fresh install,
only when it boot without the power plugged in.
In that case the CTRL+ALT+F* doesn't work.
To restart I suggest to use REISUB command instead of pressing the power button
;)

[Bug 1864287] [NEW] pulseaudio still trying to reproduce audio to HDMI without the HDMI cable connected

2020-02-22 Thread betteropensource
Public bug reported:

Yesterday I was using the HDMI cable to duplicate the monitor in the tv
and play sound with the tv by selecting HDMI exit sound in ubuntu
settings.

With the pc turned off I removed the HDMI from the tv but ubuntu doesn't
automatically set the exit sound to the default till in the settings
there is only that option and till I selected it, ubuntu was still
trying to reproduce the audio via HDMI...

Also rebooting the system the problem persists.

Also by reloading pulseaudio the problem persists.

The only solution was installing a third-party program to switch
correctly to the default audio exit...

[Bug 1859515] [NEW] device no longer recognized after activating Tethering USB

2020-01-13 Thread betteropensource
Public bug reported:

I connect my Android device to the PC with a USB cable.
It appears in the devices section in nautilus and I can read its data.
If I activate Tethering USB on the device, I can use the internet connection
but immediately the device being no longer available in nautilus, nemo, and
every other program that read the smartphone data.
If I deactivate USB tethering, the device reappear in the "devices" section.
This problem weren't present in the 18.04 version...
I'm using the same computer with the same USB cable with the same smartphone,
so the problem is sure due to something other. The problem occurs only since
when I installed Ubuntu 19.10, until some days ago with the 18.04 all was
working fine.

[Bug 1845302] [NEW] cannot click on others opened applications while the "application not responding" dialog is opened

2019-09-25 Thread betteropensource
Public bug reported:

I cannot click on others opened applications while the "application not
responding" dialog is opened in other application.

To reproduce it:

1) upload a file of about 80 MB on a web server.
2) Open it with sublimetext3 through the sublime's SFTP plugin.
3) Save the file: the application will "freeze" until it finished to upload the
modified file and the "application not responding" dialog will appear.
While this dialog is opened, you cannot click on the others applications.

lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

It's a fresh install.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1843984] [NEW] iubuntu dash truncate the name of all application searched - no way to see the complete name

2019-09-14 Thread betteropensource
Public bug reported:

I installed avidemux, which installed two packages with the same initial part
of their names: avidemux2.7_jobs_qt5 and avidemux2.7_qt5.
By clicking SUPER, the Dash will appear. If I search for "avidemux" the two
elements appear but because of the name truncated, I can't differentiate them,
either are showed with the name "avidemux 2.7 (".
Right-clicking on one of these there is the "details" option but it bring me to
the "ubuntu software" application that does not recognize the application
saying "application not found".
I think that the choose to truncate the application name in the Dash is simply
a design bug.
This is very annoying: there is enough space to see the compllete name, instead
of truncate it to the preview image size...

If I do SUPER+D the desktop will be shown minimizing all opened windows.

It I right-click on desktop, then I can't reuse SUPER+D to maximize
those windows.

In the previous Ubuntu versions it worked fine.

If I don't right-click on desktop SUPER+D works.

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04, just installed.

[Bug 1843156] [NEW] in the nemo window left clicking after right clicking often does nothing

2019-09-07 Thread betteropensource
Public bug reported:

In nemo, if I right-click on its window the contextual menu will appear
but now if I left click out of it does nothing and the contextual menu
remain opened.

Sometimes I need to click also 10 times before it works, sometimes I
first need to move the mouse to be able the left click with it opened.

In all others programs, by doing that the contextual menu correctly
closes.

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04, just installed.
