[Bug 953861] Re: network-manager-pptp forgets to add a route when connecting to (split) VPN

2012-06-07 Thread bq
I can confirm the problem,

I have upgraded from 10.04 to 12.04 and pptp based vpn stopped
working.

What I did :
I did copy the '/etc/ppp/chap-secrets' and '/etc/peers/name_of_the_company'
from the old setup to the new machine.

In the older release the pppd call was all I needed to do , but now :

Connecting is ok :

$  sudo /usr/sbin/pppd nodetach call name_of_the_company
Connect: ppp0 -- /dev/pts/4
CHAP authentication succeeded
MPPE 128-bit stateless compression enabled
local IP address 10.10.116.34
remote IP address 10.10.116.0

other terminal :
$ ping 10.10.16.162
-- no response

$ route -n |grep ppp0

10.10.116.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH0 00

$ sudo route add -net 10.10.16.0/24 ppp0

$ route -n |grep ppp0

10.10.116.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH0 00 ppp0

$ ping 10.10.16.162

[Bug 585564] Re: Xephyr keyboard layout broken

2011-10-29 Thread bq
For me , the option -keybd ephyr,,xkbmodel=evdev was not enough.
Try this :

1) see what are full options using command setxkbmap -query

$ setxkbmap -query
rules: evdev
model: evdev
layout: us

2) using this option for Xephyr:

-keybd ephyr,,,xkbmodel=evdev,xkblayout=us,xkbrules=evdev

and all is working now.
NOTE : i am not using ssh connection, but starting a nested KDE session as
another local user.
Full script:

#!/bin/bash

sudo -u another_user date || exit 0

killall Xephyr

Xephyr -ac -screen 1420x820 -keybd
ephyr,,,xkbmodel=evdev,xkblayout=us,xkbrules=evdev :3 2 /dev/null
sleep 1

export DISPLAY=:3
sudo -u another_user -H bash -c /usr/bin/dbus-launch /usr/bin/startkde
---

BTW: the ctrl+shift to greb keys to Xephyr window does not work for me,
but ctrl+alt+shift does

[Bug 358571] Re: krusader delete non-empty directory fails silently

2009-04-21 Thread bq
Another even more important update :

I do not know how to properly report this ... but it seems that problem
is not in Krusader ... but in QT ... because the same problem appears in
Konsole.

How to reproduce :
open console
create new tab
make execute some program (for example ssh to a remote machine)
select File- Close tab

...
dialog Confirm close appears .. that suffers from the same problem as with
krusader... that is ... when using keyboard (tab, enter), the tab is NOT
closed. When pressing the button with mouse, it closes ok.

Important update :

If you create a directory xyz and put some files in ... then navigate to
that directory and press DEL ... a dialog appears Do you really want to
delete this item?

The problem does NOT appear when in the dialog:
In the dialog Warning - Krusader , Directory xyz is not empty! Skip this or
Delete All?

the button Delete All is clicked with mouse. The directory is deleted as
supposed.

The problem DOES appear when in the dialog:

[Bug 348319] [NEW] Kontact does not update Today, Yesterday.. mail groups after suspend to disk

2009-03-25 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kontact

In current Jaunty, the Kontact application does not update the mail view
where mails are categorized in groups Today, Yesterday, Wendsday .
after hibernating and resuming the PC next day.

Let say you Hibernate the PC on tuesday .. and resumes on wendsday. If new
mail arrives, you will have theses groups :
Wendsday , Today , Yesterday ... instead of correct names : Today, Yesterday,
Monday,

Even if new mail arrives, the situation is the same, so i received a
mail which goes to Wendsday ... and not Today (but reality is that
Today = Wendsday).

The wiew is corrected when user view another mail folder (or other PIM
view) and goes back to the 'broken' folder.

[Bug 342141] [NEW] gwenview incorrect next previous buttons

2009-03-13 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwenview

In some situation gwenview shows the 'previous' button enabled and the
'next' button disabled while beying on the 1. image. User cannot move
anywhere with those buttons in such situation. It happnes in picture
view mode also in picture browse mode.

In other (different folder) case, both buttons are enabled .. but
pressing the 'previous' button of course does nothing.

How to reproduce : open a folder in Dolphin (or Krusader) with for example 5
images named:
 1.jpg, 2.jpg,3.jpg,4.jpg,5.jpg

Open the first one (1.jpg) . The picture is shown in gwenview. Already
here the previous, next buttons are incorrectly disabled/enabled. ..
The user cannot navigate. After pressing 'esc' and going to picture
browsing mode .. the buttons stay the same. They refresh after
navigation with keyboard , for example to the right and left ... then
the buttons are correct since.

[Bug 324220] Re: nm-system-settings crashed with SIGSEGV in _nm_marshal_VOID__STRING_UINT()

2009-02-11 Thread bq
Hello,

I would like to provide you a backtrace.

In the howto for getting the backtrace is written that the program
should be run under the debugger :

gdb program 21 | tee gdb-program.txt
(gdb) handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint
(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) run arguments, if any

How can I apply this to running network-manager , should I put it in
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager ?
I do not know how to pass handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint and the other 2
lines to the gdb since it starts as a service...

[Bug 326667] [NEW] pressing (laptop) power button should show shutdown dialog on kde4

2009-02-07 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpid

When the power button on the laptop is pressed, the notebook running
Kubuntu Jaunty (alpha 3) shuts down immediately. I think that pressing
that button, a logout/reboot/shutdown dialog should appear. Or at least
It shold be configurable.

Why (because I know from earlier similar bugreports, that some users want/like
the contrary):
* It was like that in Kubuntu releases before Intrepid (I mean before KDE4
arrived)
* If I remember correctle , it is the same in Opensuse (not a real argument, I
know)
* The power button is on notebooks next to the other special buttons (email
button, wifi on/off button) , so a random press can occur
* As some developer stated in other ancient bugreport, All actions, that can
make some data loss, should be approved by user

The problem is in the file '/etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh'. The code testing if
a kde session is running is written for the KDE3 and do not apply
anymore to KDE4.

Current code (line 20):
 if ps -Af | grep -q '[k]desktop' pidof dcopserver /dev/null test -x
/usr/bin/dcop ; then

Workaround (calling it workaround, because it is a quick fix, maybe not yet in
an acceptable shape yet) :
 if ps -Af | grep -q 'startkde' /dev/null test -x /usr/bin/dcop ; then

With this changed line, the shutdown/reboot/logout dialog appears as
desired.

This bug is also present in Intrepid, but I hope at least for Jaunty to
be fixed.

Have a nice day, bq

[Bug 305078] [NEW] after automatic update, /usr/lib is not in library path

2008-12-04 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

Not sure about the cause, but this morning (but I maybe did not reboot
for a long time) the synaptic and eclipse (and possibly many more progs)
stopped working with the message :

$ synaptic
synaptic: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: undefined
symbol: cairo_scaled_font_get_font_options

The workaround is adding line :
/usr/lib
to the file (for example) /etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc.conf.

And then running ldconfig as root.

I am not sure what the root cause is ... only I know that the libc6
2.8~20080505-0ubuntu7 installed as the last package.

Bye, bq

[Bug 277049] Re: kdesvn is not compatible with SVN 1.5

2008-10-02 Thread bq
I have had the same problem. I am running 8.04 , but (I think because I
wanted to test kde 4.1 and so added some repositories) , the svn 1.5
installed from som repository. MAYBE the intrepid-backports repository
... or http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu repository
... or whatever I do not now, but in plain hardy repository the
subversion is still 1.4.

Workaround is pinning the svn version. That means in the (if nonexistent,
create it) file /etc/apt/preferences adding lines :
Package: subversion
Pin: version 1.4.6dfsg1-2ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: libsvn1
Pin: version 1.4.6dfsg1-2ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

And then doing an update.
For fixing woking copies, that have been already converted to 1.5 format .. you
can use a python script change-svn-wc-format.py from the net, it worked fine
on my huge wc ;).

Real solution (out of my scope):
There should be a dependency kdesvn ... = svn client 1.4

[Bug 277089] [NEW] krusader wrong 'Esc' key handling when using 'Esc' as a shortcut

2008-10-02 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: krusader

Hello,

I set up (maybe it seems a little bizaare, but I use kdesvn a lot) the 'Esc'
shortcut to call kdesvn in the current directory via the 'ActionMan' component.
It works but I found a small problem :

When I want to cancel the renaming (initiated by F9) of the file by
pressing the 'Esc' key :

1) the renaming operaction is not cancelled
2) the kdesvn opens.

I feel that while renaming a file , pressing the 'Esc' key should
cancell the renaming operation and the keystroke should be consumed,
thus not passed to ActionMan.

Bye, thank you for Krusader, Ondrej

[Bug 220431] Re: In RC 8.04 the add recursively does function properly

2008-09-24 Thread bq
Sorry, I am such a lama .. :) It looks like the button that I am
talking about is not a add recursively button.. I would swear that it
had this function before ... now there is a ctrl +insert (or menu)
shortcut to add recursively.

So the bug does not exists.

[Bug 121053] Re: Timestamps no longer appear

2008-07-18 Thread bq
Hi,

I observe the same bug. It is a bug, since, when I use the timestamp
plugin, I want to see timestamps not only in the log messages, but
also in present conversations ... example situation : i go to lunch, i
get back after an hour, in the messge window i see Hello, I need your
help with PC ... but I am unable to say if it is a very recent message
, that user posted 2 mins ago, or it is sitting there for an half an
hour. Of course my response will differ.

Thank you, biq

[Bug 185311] Re: hardy, locking assertion failure, xorg/libsdl

2008-04-22 Thread bq
The problem occurs also on Sun jdk j2sdk1.4.2_17 (not installed from
.deb but from Sun installer, but info is important anyway).

The workaround seems to be very similar to other java versions. I tried
only with simple gui program, so I cannot say if ti has any side
effects.

sudo sed -i 's/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g'
/usr/lib/jvm/j2sdk1.4.2_17/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so

[Bug 200064] Re: the iwl3945 driver will not connect to my open, 802.11 b, linksys AP

2008-04-21 Thread bq
Upgraded Kubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 RC, the wifi on FS Amilo pro v3405 (module
ipw3945) stops working, the knetworkmanager does not show any network.
It is related to the kernel , the Hardy installs and uses by default kernel
2.6.24-16-generic. When I select the 2.6.22-14-generic it works fine again.

lspci with the 2.6.22-14-generic kernel :
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network
Connection (rev 02).
If more info needed I am ready to answer on email.

The toolbar icon used to add directory recursively to version control
does not recurse anymore, this means, that user has to click many times

[Bug 220432] [NEW] kdesvn wc view is inconsistent

2008-04-21 Thread bq
Public bug reported:

After adding file in kdesvn... it is still marked as not versioned.
Thes stays even after refresh.

Also other inconsistencies in view at the local wc are introduced , for
example after commit sometimes ... and refresh does not help... :(

Side note: I have to say, that the kdesvn shipped (installed, or affected by
some installation) with Kubuntu RC 8.04 is not usable anymore, looks like going
back to alfa stage.. (see other bugs).

[Bug 82870] Re: Kubuntu/Crystal: minimised windows do not resize correctly

2007-04-04 Thread bq
I found that this problem occurs also when launching a window on a
different desktop.

Example :
 * I have set in KDE preferences that window OBJECT NAVIGATOR should open on a
desktop 2
 * I launch this program/window from desktop 5
 * Window gets incorrectly clipped - this can be seen on the snapshot attached

- note : with plastik theme (or others) this does not occur.
- note : I am able to reproduce this as needed
- note : For me it happens also when a java applet from firefox opens a
separate window and I am at that time at a different desktop.

If possible I think that this bug should be renamed to something like
Kubuntu - Crystal theme clipping problem, because it looks to be more
general than minimizing related.
