[Bug 235228] Re: Could not open location 'burn:///'
The same error occurs, but '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' returns nothing. My steps: 1) Ran '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' on the command line 2) Put in two blank DVD-Rs in both my DVD-ROM and DVD-RAM drives 3) Went to 'Places Blank DVD-ROM Disc' and the same error appeared. 4) Went back to the command line to see that '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' returned nothing. 5) Manually went to 'burn:///' and that also returned nothing for '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' I also found it interesting that only one DVD-R was detected. The other device says Unable to mount location / No media in the drive. The drives work perfectly fine in Windows. The DVD-RAM (the one that detected my DVD-R is an LG, bought about 3 months ago) while the other one came with my Dell XPS Gen 5 in August 2005. you mean that firefox is writting this gconf value? that's broken behaviour and a bug Yes Sabastian, you are correct. We just need to find out where/when/why Firefox does this. My theory is that it occurs when you set 'Firefox' as the default 'Web Browser' (which FTP could be umbrella-ed under) in System Preferences Preferred Applications. Re: [Bug 242478] Re: Nautilus can not display FTP quite often
No, same error occurs. I'm wondering if it is due to the '.' in the username... [Bug 196202] Re: Places menu FTP servers open in firefox-3.0 instead of nautilus
Confirmed (and marking as so). I was about to submit a duplicate until I found this. $ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp needs_terminal = false command = /usr/bin/firefox %s enabled = true Maybe this occurs after 'Preferred Applications Internet Web Browser' is set to Firefox? Did anyone else do this, even unknowingly? If so, Firefox should not be set for FTP accounts, or there should be a separate section for FTP under 'Preferred Applications Internet'. My suggestion, anyway. Workaround: Go to 'Places Home Folder', select 'Bookmarks' in Nautilus and select your FTP bookmark. [Bug 191650] Re: [hardy] there's no 'custom' desktop effect profile after installing ccsm
May I reiterate? There are two packages that deal with custom compiz effects in Hardy: simple-ccsm compizconfig-settings-manager In Gutsy, there was only: compizconfig-settings-manager In Gutsy, 'compizconfig-settings-manager' enabled an 'Extra' radio button and a 'Preferences' button which opened 'compizconfig-settings- manager'. In Hardy, 'compizconfig-settings-manager' does not enable this feature. To enable this feature in Hardy, you have to install 'simple- ccsm'. I think what is wanted here is to have the 'Extra' radio button and 'Preferences' button when 'compizconfig-settings-manager' is installed, just like in Gutsy. Like I said, only 'simple-ccsm' provides this feature in Hardy. [Bug 228547] [NEW] [usability] Make shortcut for trash:/// in Places Trash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I don't know what has happened here in Hardy (or to my computer) but all of sudden, my Trash applet in gnome-panel has disappeared. I've ran: $ killall gnome-panel and tried to re-add Trash from Add to Panel... and even rebooted. I'm not complaining about that bug (I will file a separate report for that). What I am stating here is that there needs to be a secondary method to find the user's trash bin. In GNOME 2.22, the Trash is no longer found at ~/.Trash, but (by default) ~/.local/share/Trash (which is harder to find for a regular desktop user (if they even know how to view hidden files)) and I'm sure most don't know about 'trash:///' in Nautilus. Thus I'm proposing to have the Trash bin in Places Trash as a fallback (In case something happens to the Trash applet) and a usable shortcut (highly usable and visible in the main menu). Steps to reproduce === 1) Run 'gnome-mouse-properties' either through a terminal or by clicking System Preferences Mouse 2) You should be under the General tab -- click the 'Accessibility' tab 3) Under 'Simulated Secondary Click', try to enable 'Trigger secondary click by holding down the primary button' or under 'Dwell Click', try to enable 'Initiate click when stopping pointer movement' 4) Error dialog: 'bAssistive Technologies not enabled/b\n Mousetweaks requires Assistive Technologies.' What should happen === The preferences should be enabled automatically with no form of error What currently happens === An error dialog appears telling the using that 'Mousetweaks requires Assistive Technologies' but doesn't state where or how to enable it. This is an accessibility problem as its a generic error and it gives no assistance to the user to tell them how to enable 'Assistive Technologies'. Youtube: Partial support for continuing transfers It is now be possible to continue partial downloads as long as they are high-quality (mp4) videos. Note that this fails utterly for the flv videos. It appears urlgrabber appends a complete file at the end of the existing file when the host refuses to continue transfer. Instead of bloating the code with the conditions, continuing the youtube flv file transfers remains disabled. ! Dailymotion: improved media support clive no more assumes 512x384 is the highest available quality. The video page is now parsed for best available quality which clive extracts unless the --low-quality option is being used. It should be noted that most videos appear to have only the low-quality (flv) video available. No media warning will be displayed if high quality video is not found and the low quality video is extracted instead. ! Transfer rate calculations File length offset is now used properly with files that are being overwritten. This fixes the only-progress-percentage odditity is being displayed. ! Youtube: New error messages error: country restriction/censorship error: private video ! --check-update,-u Crash at: TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given) ~ Reduce progress stdout flickering (sr #1944) Progress is now rendered in one second intervals. clive will now also display average transfer rate and total time elapsed when the transfer completes. ~ Clean up clive(1), INSTALL etc. Version 0.4.7[2008-03-17] = +new !fix ~change -remove | focus: major feature enhancements NOTE: Much of the existing code was rewritten, cleaned up or otherwise modified. Expect bugs. Please report them at the the above URL. Thanks. + GNU Autotools support See the INSTALL file for the updated installation details. + urlgrabber integration The urlgrabber module is now part of the source code distribution. For more info, please read the README file. Downstream maintainers: urlgrabber module is no longer a prerequisite + Cache If caching is enabled, clive will collect data about visited URLs to a sqlite3 database file (~/.clive/cache). Note that cache is only available for Python = 2.5. Also, depending on the system, the sqlite3 may not be installed with Python by default, e.g. on FreeBSD you need to install it separately (databases/py-sqlite3). Added also --no-cache and enable_cache. Caching is enabled by default. + Youtube: new default format clive now defaults to extract the better quality (mp4) videos from Youtube. The default behaviour can be overridden with the --low-quality option. + Paste option displayed at program start The state for paste from xclip is now displayed when the program starts. ! Same output filename in URL batch clive did not previously check the URLs in current batch for same output filename. For example: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4505462782975458603 http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-4505462782975458603 Both URLs point to the same video, note the different TLD. If they were fed to clive in same URL batch the program accepted them without any scrutiny. This resulted clive to waste bandwidth downloading the same file twice and overwriting the previously extracted video file. clive now generates (--exist=rename) a new output filename for the last URL. ! Dailymotion support clive will now attempt to extract the higher resolution vide (mp4)

Of course. [Bug 25966] Re: NEW PACKAGE: Printer drivers for Brother needed
I apologize for a third time. I finally got the brother-cups-wrapper-* drivers installed along with the previously installed brother-lpr-* drivers. The printing is not working. Just a note, I am using Gutsy (as a reminder). I followed your steps and changed the driver. [Bug 193762] Re: Can't paste nautilus
I'm not sure if this is Nautilus' fault, but it happens to me with Firefox and OpenOffice, although it could be any program. If I copy a sentence from Firefox, then close Firefox and then try to paste the sentence into OpenOffice, I can't as the sentence has been purged. I've been told I need 'glipper' to keep track of my coping and pasting, but I don't understand why I need an external program to handle my clipboard. Is this a known feature missing from Nautilus or is it supposed to be there? Yes, this sometimes happens to me with Nautilus too. Seems like that 'select the word to copy it and then middle click to paste it' messes up with ctrl + c and ctrl +v. -- Can't paste nautilus https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193762 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
