[Bug 1925452] [NEW] [Ubuntu 21.04]: net/mlx5: Fix HW spec violation configuring uplink (mandatory for 20.04)
Public bug reported: With the 5.4.0-48 update for Ubuntu 20.04, the commit "net/mlx5e: Modify uplink state on interface up/down" was integrated which contains a regression for mlx5 adapters with older adapter firmware. This is the second bugfix to repair the regression, required to operate the adapter in switchdev mode. The first part was integrated via Bug 192185 - LP1921104. This is the upstream fix required to be backported to Ubuntu 20.04: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/1a73704c82ed4ee95532ac04645d02075bd1ce3d ---Additional Hardware Info--- Mellanox ConnectX network adapter ---uname output--- 5.4.0-73-generic ---Steps to Reproduce--- enable switchdev mode try to ping external host Backports need to be provide for 21.04, 20.10 and 20.04 (if not cleanly applyable)! ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Skipper Bug Screeners (skipper-screen-team) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-s3903164 bugnameltc-192501 severity-high targetmilestone-inin2104 ** Tags added: architecture-s3903164 bugnameltc-192501 severity-high targetmilestone-inin2104 ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) => Skipper Bug Screeners (skipper-screen-team) ** Package changed: ubuntu => linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925452 Title: [Ubuntu 21.04]: net/mlx5: Fix HW spec violation configuring uplink (mandatory for 20.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1925452/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From stefan.ra...@de.ibm.com 2021-03-30 10:59 EDT--- OK, would that be a consideration? The idea is to have a service that logs kvm events in a round-robin manner. To do so, 2 things need to happen: (1) install the unit file kvm_stat.service (2) install a respective logrotate file in /etc/logrotate.d, so we can wrap around - see git commit 3754afe7cf7cc3693a9c9ff795e9bd97175ca639 for further information -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921870 Title: [UBUNTU 21.04] tools/kvm_stat: Add restart delay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1921870/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1921870] [NEW] [UBUNTU 21.04] tools/kvm_stat: Add restart delay
Public bug reported: Description: tools/kvm_stat: Add restart delay Symptom: If the kvm service is enabled and the system rebooted, Systemd's initial attempt to start the kvm unit file may fail in case the kvm module is not loaded. However, once the kvm module is loaded, the service is _not_ started. Problem: Since the unit file does not specify a delay for the retries, Systemd restarts with a minimum delay a number of times before giving up and disabling the service. Which means a subsequent kvm module load will have kvm running without monitoring. Solution: Add an appropriate delay in the unit file. Reproduction: (1) Enable the kvm service via systemctl (2) Reboot (3) Verify that the kvm module is not loaded & kvm service not running (4) Load the kvm module via 'modprobe kvm' (5) Verify that the kvm service came up within the next minute. Preventive:yes Just use the attached patch and you're good! ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Skipper Bug Screeners (skipper-screen-team) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-s39064 bugnameltc-192257 severity-high targetmilestone-inin2110 ** Tags added: architecture-s39064 bugnameltc-192257 severity-high targetmilestone-inin2110 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921870 Title: [UBUNTU 21.04] tools/kvm_stat: Add restart delay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1921870/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From daniel.axte...@ibm.com 2021-03-18 00:22 EDT--- Apologies once again for the delay. > @Daniel > "In either case, however, the CA that signs the kernel signing key needs to > be built in to the kernel's .builtin_trusted_keys keyring." > > On Ubuntu, for OPAL singing, on PowerPC, we do not use CA at all. Thus instead we use self-signed certificates for the kernel which have > not been signed by a CA. > > Thus we should simply include them all in trusted keyring, and there is no > need to ship anything on disk or load anything from the userspace. My mistake. Yes, if you build the kernel signing key into the trusted keyring, that should cover everything. Kind regards, Daniel --- Comment From daniel.axte...@ibm.com 2021-03-18 00:29 EDT--- Wait, no, hang on, this keeps tripping me up. IMA kexec appended-signature verification uses only the %.ima and %.platform keyrings. Having the key in %.builtin_trusted_keys should logically be enough, but that's not how the code works, much to my regular frustration. Here's groovy/master security/integrity/ima/ima_appraise.c modsig_verify(): rc = integrity_modsig_verify(INTEGRITY_KEYRING_IMA, modsig); if (IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_INTEGRITY_PLATFORM_KEYRING) && rc && func == KEXEC_KERNEL_CHECK) rc = integrity_modsig_verify(INTEGRITY_KEYRING_PLATFORM, modsig); if (rc) { *cause = "invalid-signature"; *status = INTEGRITY_FAIL; } else { *status = INTEGRITY_PASS; } So just having it in %:.builtin_trusted_keys doesn't suffice, we need to get it into %:.ima or %:.platform somehow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903288 Title: Power guest secure boot with static keys: kernel portion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1903288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1919420] [NEW] On s390x interactive subiquity from the 20.04.2 ISO crashes on keyboard selection screen breaking install
Public bug reported: I tried to install Ubuntu 20.04.2 from the ISO image "ubuntu-20.04.2 -live-server-s390x.iso" available at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/20.04.2/release/ on an LPAR. For this I used the "Load from ISO image" panel on the HMC with the "/ubuntu.ins" file. I then used the manual network config dialog to configure a qeth network device and loaded the ISO image from the URL: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/20.04.2/release/ubuntu-20.04.2-live-server-s390x.iso This all worked nicely (Thanks for bringing back the manual network configuration!) and gave me a subiquity installer available via "ssh installer@" as well as on the "Integrated ASCII Console". In the first installer step I chose "English" as the language, then the next step is the keyboard layout but there the installer immediately shows a "Sorry the installer encountered an internal error" dialog (both via SSH and the integrated ASCII console). The "Continue" button doesn't get me further and "Sent to Canonical" then completely crashes the installer (which at least restarts). I've used the same installation flow successfully with the Ubuntu 20.10 ISO image. So I don't think I'm doing something wrong. I also collected a the crash log which I've attached. I think the relevant part here might be the following: 2021-03-16 11:19:31,460 INFO subiquity:119 Arguments passed: ['/snap/subiquity/2278/usr/bin/subiquity'] 2021-03-16 11:19:31,460 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,461 DEBUG asyncio:54 Using selector: EpollSelector 2021-03-16 11:19:31,464 DEBUG subiquity.signals:50 connect_signal: l10n:language-selected -> KeyboardController.language_selected 2021-03-16 11:19:31,465 DEBUG subiquitycore.core:92 known signals: ['l10n:language-selected'] 2021-03-16 11:19:31,465 DEBUG subiquitycore.core:120 starting controllers 2021-03-16 11:19:31,465 DEBUG subiquitycore.core:123 controllers started 2021-03-16 11:19:31,465 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,466 DEBUG subiquity/Progress/_wait_status:107 start: 2021-03-16 11:19:31,467 INFO subiquity/Welcome:107 start: starting UI 2021-03-16 11:19:31,468 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,468 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,468 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,468 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') 2021-03-16 11:19:31,468 DEBUG subiquitycore.screen:133 KDGKBTYPE failed OSError(25, 'Inappropriate ioctl for device') So I'm guessing the code is probing for a keyboard but we don't have any or even usb so something fails. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Skipper Bug Screeners (skipper-screen-team) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-s39064 bugnameltc-192018 severity-high targetmilestone-inin20042 ** Tags added: architecture-s39064 bugnameltc-192018 severity-high targetmilestone-inin20042 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919420 Title: On s390x interactive subiquity from the 20.04.2 ISO crashes on keyboard selection screen breaking install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1919420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1916230] [NEW] [Ubuntu 21.04] QEMU is missing virtio-9p-ccw
Public bug reported: ---Problem Description--- QEMU 5.2.0 (Ubuntu 21.04) does not have the virtio-9p-ccw device. Following patch should be used at https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2021-02/msg05793.html. This should be back-ported. ---Steps to Reproduce--- Build QEMU from https://download.qemu.org/qemu-5.2.0.tar.xz and try qemu-system-s390x -device virtio-9p-ccw Userspace tool common name: QEMU The userspace tool has the following bit modes: 64-bit Userspace rpm: qemu-system-s390x Userspace tool obtained from project website: 5.2.0 Commit 2c44220d05 ("meson: convert hw/arch*"), which migrated the old Makefile.objs to meson.build accidentally excluded virtio-ccw-9p.c and thus the virtio-9p-ccw device from the build (and potentially also included the file virtio-ccw-blk.c twice in the source set). And since CONFIG_VIRTFS can't be used the way it was used here (see commit 2c9dce0196 ("meson: do not use CONFIG_VIRTFS")), the preconditions have to be written differently. Let's fix this! Therefore please drop these two distros from the list and close with Fix released. --- Comment From heinz-werner_se...@de.ibm.com 2021-02-18 06:34 EDT--- @Canonical. Does that also be leveraged by 20.04? The 'fix' would be backporting the manpage for virt-clone. Are you willing to spend the effort for it ? Than I we need to open an addl. ticket. Your opinion? many thx -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873887 Title: virt-clone fails on a suspended (paused) guest, whereas documentation claims the clone should be successful. [Bug 1914740] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From wint...@de.ibm.com 2021-02-18 02:54 EDT--- (In reply to comment #18) > Thx Alexandra and Asha for digging deeply into that issue with the > hipersocket environment. > So the initial reason was to use L3 because of potentially connecting to > z/OS instances? > Yes, that is the one scenario where L3 HiperSockets with DHCP would be neccessary. The other thing is that HiperSockets Linux interfaces default to L3, so they can potentially connect to z/OS. So even if no z/OS is around, people may use L3 HiperSockets just because it is the default. @Asha, do you have a need to use L3 in your scenario? Will you ever connect to z/OS? > > And I totally agree to use interfaces in L2 mode whereever possible, > especially when it comes to DHCP. And so far I only saw DHCP environments on > Z in L2 mode, hence my surprise at the very beginning about the combination > of DHCP / Hipersockets / L3. Note that OSA L3 interfaces do have the same issue with DHCP. But there is no reason to use OSA L3 interfaces at all and they default to L2. So hopefully nobody cares about that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914740 Title: IPs are not assigned for Hipersockets in DHCP mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1914740/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From i...@de.ibm.com 2021-02-17 11:51 EDT--- Here is the original complaint: https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20200611205040.GA1853644@krava/ If you build the kernel with CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF, there is a 50% chance that you will see "Failed verification: in-kernel BTF is malformed" during boot. There was also a hang, reported by one of our kernel team members, that we tracked down to the same issue, but unfortunately I cannot find any details about it right now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903814 Title: [binutils] Prevent GOT access rewrite for certain symbols To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1903814/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

--- Comment From wint...@de.ibm.com 2021-02-17 03:43 EDT--- For documentation: 'dhclient -B' is a way to turn on the required flag for Layer3 DHCP at the client side. My Ubuntu 20.04.2 contains only isc-dhclient-4.4.1 Seems that isc-dhclient-4.4.2 is required for this option. Using 'bootp-broadcast-always;' in a dhclient.conf file may be another option. However: as mentioned above, I strongly recommend to use Layer2 interfaces for DHCP, if possible.
