[Bug 516772] Re: HP Touchsmart tm2 brightness level not changing

2010-09-14 Thread d2globalinc

Works on mine - :S however I have one that will kill the screen if
brightness gets to 0.. The other will come back up when adjusting
brightness.

Having same issue with a fresh install in a virtual machine (vmware
workstation 7.1.x) - with ubuntu Lucid 32bit w/ all latest updates.
attempt to access windows share on a windows 7 machine, get the dbus

not have this issue w/ dolphin and I was able to connect. I can also
connect to the same share from other windows machines as well as kubuntu

[Bug 433486] Re: plasma-desktop crashes when widget style is non-oxgyen [QGraphicsGridLayout::sizeHint()]

2009-11-15 Thread d2globalinc
I can confirm - it is the default BLOG plasmoid that ships with Kubuntu
by default.. Usually its the first thing I remove, but I had gone ahead
and started messing with my font and theme settings before I did, and
came across this error.. I removed the entires in the config file
mentioned above under [General] - that got me able to get back in with
plasma-desktop not crashing, then I removed the blog plasmoid, and re-
enabled all my settings again.. and no crash, works fine ;)

[Bug 455509] Re: (Karmic) Jockey does not detect any hardware until bcmwl-modaliases is reinstalled.

2009-11-06 Thread d2globalinc

then showed me all my hardware that can have proprietary drivers..

Try an alternate key server - Ubuntu's suck - and always seem to be
down..

subkeys.pgp.net
pgp.mit.edu
pool.sks-keyservers.net
keys.nayr.net

try the first then work your way down until you find one that doesn't
time out!

so do: apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net

if one works - your set!

Hmm - I don't have that issue with Firefox - just the cursor image

Seank and Puzza007 - Both of your issues are not related to this issue..
The mouse does not get stuck in the zone, the bug is that after the
mouse moves from one monitor to the next, the last monitor it was on has
a static image of the cursor as it was right before the mouse
transitioned to the next monitor. The mouse and cursor continue to
function as normal, however the static image will remain on the other
display until you move the mouse back to that monitor at which point a
static cursor will remain on the opposite display..

[Bug 338473] Re: Segmentation Fault occurs when a second window with Flash video content is closed

2009-04-28 Thread d2globalinc
I have the same issue, freeze issues w/ flash content as well as it
seems to randomly crash firefox with Segmentation fault when closing a
second window that contained flash. Could be Firefox, could be Flash
64bit plugin, or could also be PulseAudio system.. Not sure which is
directly related. It seems to be happening more often now w/ latest
version of firefox from repositories - w/ the flash plugin still the
same version i've been using for the past few versions of firefox.. So
I'm leaning towards some issue with Firefox.. Free players do not offer
the same performance or options as the flash 10 64bit plugin.. Also
flash is directly integrated into the web now - its not going away - and
if the only other option is Silverlight - I'll take flash.. And when
you develop a site w/ flash at least you know the flash content will
look the same in firefox, IE, any browser - so that is also why I
develop for it... If you dont like flash-ads - then get adblock plus ;)

[Bug 346095] Re: notify-osd doesn't honor my preference

2009-04-25 Thread d2globalinc
Just adding to this - I see no way of (and read its not possible) to
change the position of the notify-osd.. Considering we are trying to
get as man users as possible off windows systems and onto Ubuntu - we
customize the interface to fit what they were previously used to. That
means the very first thing we do is get rid of the top panel, and have a
single panel at the bottom. The notifications look like crap just
showing up on top of the minimize / maximinze buttons, etc..

Our inital testing and distrbution of ubuntu jaunty - has brought the
question How can i change the location of the nofications? on several
different occasions so far, and we have just rolled it out on a limited
scale..

Our goal is to migrate as many clients and users as possible over to
opensource and ubuntu, this means we have to modify the default gui and
configuration of ubuntu to make it more apealing to people coming from
windows environments. People hate change enough as it is, so we are int
he position of making that change as painless as possible. Not being
able to fully customize the notifications makes this very difficult to
accomplish.

- on a side note - I get this error on my personal system -

(notify-osd:2919): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_int: assertion
`default_value = minimum default_value = maximum' failed

[Bug 331369] Re: regression vs. notification-daemon: positioning when multiple screens are available

2009-04-25 Thread d2globalinc
There are no config files at this time to position notify-osd from what
I can see. Looks like its been decided to hardcode in the position to
the upper right of the screen.. This is a nightmare when considering we
remove the upper panel right away from all new ubuntu installations
because users we are switching over from windows want to have something
as familiar as possible during their transition.. Its hard enough to get
users to switch, and then when we get them to do it, we would like it to
be as easy for them as possible. This means notifications down by the
system tray in the lower right, and a single panel, and no wasting
screen real-estate with a 2nd top panel.

[Bug 231697] Re: Composite extension not working with dual screens using Xinerama

2009-04-14 Thread d2globalinc
This bug remains.. Anytime Xinerama is enabled the composite extension
shows its going to be enabled in the log, but does not. There is also
now a bug in Jaunty that causes the mouse cursor to stick to the xscreen
on all video cards.. So if you move the mouse from one monitor to the
next it leaves a copy of the mouse cursor behind on the previous
xscreen you transitioned from right where the mouse transitioned to the
next monitor.. If you move the mouse back the cursor picks right back up
on your mouse movements.. This was not in intrepid, but is now in
Jaunty.. I read someplace this is a bug in the kernel, but I have yet to
find the bug report..

Main issue of this report howerver - remains.. When Xinerama is enabled
with nvidia drivers - composite is disabled.

[Bug 357901] Re: xinerama mouse cursor on every screen

2009-04-10 Thread d2globalinc
I can confirm this as well with latest Jaunty Beta 64 Bit - Kernel
2.6.28-11 and Nvidia Drivers 180.44 -

A mouse cursor will stick to every individual xscreen joined by
Xinerama. I tested using SWCursor ON in my xorg and the initial
problem goes away, but then the mouse cursor leaves a corrupted trail
behind it on all displays but the primary initial display...

discovered that this boot error will happen when I'm using the system

The other system uses new Velocaraptor SATA2 drives with the same DVR
and it works fine. I also tried a Samsung SH-S223Q DVR in the system
that has the issues and the same error occurs. IT looks like it has
something to do with using the SATA1 raptor drives with the Sata DVR..

[Bug 290153] Re: Fails to find boot device in Intel D945Gnt

2009-02-21 Thread d2globalinc
Nvidia Drivers? Are you talking about a display issue? This bug report
is for issues with Intrepid and also Jaunty not being able to boot to or
with a sata dvd-rom drive connected.

[Bug 290153] Re: Fails to find boot device in Intel D945Gnt

2009-02-21 Thread d2globalinc
Back on topic - I just got Ubuntu 8.10 to boot on the liveCD - I had to
add the option all_generic_ide to the kernel line . This of course
allowed me to boot the liveCD but I don't see this as being an option
for a regular install since its going to really degrade performance..
But perhaps this can help get to the bottom of the issue? Let me know if
I need to test anything else! Thanks!

[Bug 291791] Re: kernel 2.6.27 won't boot if Pioneer DVR-215 DVD-RW connected

2009-02-21 Thread d2globalinc
Was able to boot LiveDVD w/ Intrepid 8.10 (didn't try jaunty but assume
the same) - with adding all_generic_ide to the end of the kernel boot
line.. This is not a solution, but allowed me to boot the CD. I will
not be installing a workstation with this feature since it would degrade
harddrive performance, but perhaps it will help solve the issue knowing
this. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help resolve
this issue.

Thanks!

[Bug 290153] Re: Fails to find boot device in Intel D945Gnt

2009-02-09 Thread d2globalinc
Update to my previous post - I have tested Alpha4 Jaunty with 32 and
64bit liveCD's - and no luck with either one. I'm really excited about
some of the things in Jaunty (ext4, etc) - so hopefully this can be
resolved before its out of beta. I'm looking forward to even faster
boot up times - so I'm not really wanting to put in any delay work-
around here.

I'll keep testing newer builds and let everyone know what I find out..
I'm running Hardy 2.6.24-23-generic x86_64 without a problem!

If anyone needs me to test anything else - just ask! - Thanks! - Shane

[Bug 290153] Re: Fails to find boot device in Intel D945Gnt

2009-02-06 Thread d2globalinc
I can also confirm this - had report this issue here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/291791

But looks like this is also where I belong. I have tested Intrepid
64bit w/ Kernel 2.6.27-11 and the liveCD I made with that would not
boot, the same is with any standard intrepid LiveCD's. (Have not test
32bit).

Jaunty Alpha3 Did not work, I'm downloading latest Alpha 4 to try (this
time both 32 and 64bit).

Will post results and try the delay workaround mentioned in here.

[Bug 291791] Re: kernel 2.6.27 won't boot if Pioneer DVR-215 DVD-RW connected

2009-02-02 Thread d2globalinc
bad news - Both the custom liveDVD I rolled with Intrepid 64bit Kernel
version 2.6.27-11 and the latest Alpha3 of Jaunty 64bit did not work.
Both came up with same error.

ata3: SRST failed (errno=-16)

I used the Jaunty Desktop 64bit LiveCD and received the same error. So
the bug is still there in the latest Alpha.

Everything still works fine with Hardy - now using 64bit kernel -
2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Mon Jan 26 01:04:16 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Let me know if I can help with testing anything else!

Thanks,

[Bug 291791] Re: kernel 2.6.27 won't boot if Pioneer DVR-215 DVD-RW connected

2009-02-01 Thread d2globalinc
I'm using 64bit version - I'm still back on Hardy but just got done
making a custom LiveDVD using intrepid 64bit, kernel version is
2.6.27-11. I'm going to attempt to boot from the disk to see if the
issue is still there. Will post my results w/ kernel versions, etc.

[Bug 291791] Re: no detected DVD writer pioneer SATA

2008-12-03 Thread d2globalinc
I can verify this as well. Same SATA DVD Writer - SH-S203N will NOT
boot live cd. I disconnect it and installed intrepid with an external
usb dvd drive I have. After installation I upgraded using apt-get dist-
upgrade / apt-get upgrade, etc. after a few reboots I reconnected sata
dvd writer and intrepid hung for a long time at boot and gave same error
messages as before. Latest kernel as of 12-02-08 provided by apt-get
did not fix issue. Same machine installs 8.04 w/o issue and runs latest
updates as well without issue.

[Bug 262491] Re: Please remove xserver-xgl (universe) from the archives

2008-10-03 Thread d2globalinc
Without xserver-xgl those of us with multiple monitors (Say 3 monitors
or more) using multiple graphics cards have no way of bridging those
cards together to form one xscreen. Xrandr only works on a single
graphics card at this time and nvidia's twinview only works with a
single graphics card at this time. I'm looking for any alternate to
xserver-xgl but the only option that even comes close right now would be
the use of a triplehead2go hardware device but those have limited
resolutions. Any ideas would be great - I have a howto / support link
going over in the ubuntu forums at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=884161 - complete with video of
my current setup. I know i'm not the norm - but i've helped many people
who have 3 - 4 monitors and are frustrated with the current state of
dualmonitor or more support. This trend is getting more and more
popular as LCD's have gotten cheap and triple SLI boards now make it
possible to have 3 equally powerful video cards in one system.. I'm
searching for ideas / suggestions / howtos / point me in a direction - I
search this daily ;) - and I'm willing to put any idea to test and do a
writeup.. I love Ubuntu, never going back to windows, and converting
our clients PC's daily! (I'm even starting a killboard w/ windows logos
- I'm up to 60+!). Thanks! - Shane Menshik - D2 Global Inc. -
