[Bug 2066914] [NEW] tmux 3.4 stalls during active pane zoom

2024-05-23 Thread Dom Del Nano
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu noble, I've noticed that the tmux server
stalls when zooming the active pane (prefix + z). Using top -p
${tmux_server_pid} its easy to see that the server will sometimes
consume as high as 60% CPU when servicing this zoom pane operation.

Rebuilding tmux from upstream the current 3.4 tag doesn't seem to experience
this issue:
```
ddelnano@dev-vm:~/code/tmux ((3.4)) $ git rev-parse HEAD
9ae69c3795ab5ef6b4d760f6398cd9281151f632
```

I've collected flame graphs of the buggy upstream version and a self
built 3.4 binary attached to this report.

[Bug 1968929] Re: Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems

2022-04-21 Thread Elias E. del Real
I just did a fresh install of the official release of 22.04 LTS image
today, and hit this problem. I see no gear icon, and it defaults to X11,
with no option to select Wayland, whether I have just the NVIDIA GPU
enabled, or both the Intel integrated GPU and the NVIDIA discrete GPU
enabled in hybrid mode.

I had previously installed a nightly build of 22.04 LTS (beta) last
week, and had the gear as an option, and was able to select and use
Wayland.

2021-03-29 Thread Oscar Pérez del Campo
I guess this bug has been solved. As stated in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/776 by @rmeissn,
from gnome-settings, when the headset is connected, you can switch from HSP/HFP
to A2DP.
Once changed this setting my headsed sounds perfectly.

[Bug 1879698] Re: package shim-signed 1.34.9+13-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: installed shim-signed package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2020-05-28 Thread Juan Del Castillo Gómez
Hi, Sorry for delay.

This bug is my first bug report.

Maybe it's duplicate but I opened new report because versions don't
match exactly.

It happened on a fresh install on a computer only for eventual testing
and now I don't using it.

The computer has an EFI partition with 3 primary partitions and with 2
other debian-based distributions running fine. But I repeat the third
ubuntu installation because at the end the installation process break
because a some problem with grub.

At this moment I don't need fix this bug, and I don't know fix it alone.

What I do now for help to improve?

Thanks.

As you pointed out, installing nvidia-driver-390 from the Ubuntu repos
solved the problem.

[Bug 1876522] [NEW] apt chooses Ubuntu repo instead of nvidia-graphics PPA

2020-05-02 Thread Xavier Del Campo Romero
Public bug reported:

First, I added this PPA via the usual procedure:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa

Below there is the NVidia chipset I want to install the drivers for:
$ lspci | grep -i --color 'vga\|3d\|2d'
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 0b)
04:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF117M [GeForce 610M/710M/810M/820M /
GT 620M/625M/630M/720M] (rev a1)

However, even after installing the PPA, apt still prefers to install the
version from the Ubuntu repos, see log below. After some discussion on
the #kubuntu IRC channel, I have been advised this is not the expected
behaviour and I have been encouraged to file an issue here. An option
was the Ubuntu repos listed this chipset incorrectly, but I don't have
enough expertise on this field to confirm that.

$ apt-cache policy nvidia-driver-440
nvidia-driver-440:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 440.82+really.440.64-0ubuntu6
  Version table:
 440.82+really.440.64-0ubuntu6 500
500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/restricted amd64 Packages
 440.82-0ubuntu0~0.20.04.1 500
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/graphics-drivers/ppa/ubuntu focal/main
amd64 Packages

Forcing the PPA version leads to broken packages, as shown below:

$ sudo apt install nvidia-driver-440=440.82-0ubuntu0~0.20.04.1

I never could get NVidia drivers to work on this computer when using 18.04 LTS.
In fact, I switched to a fresh install of 20.04 LTS yesterday, where the
'Install third-party drivers' checkbox installed nvidia-driver-340. However,
even on a fresh install only a black screen appeared (terminal could still be
accessed via ctrl+alt+f2), as it also happened on 18.04 LTS. So the only way to
get the system to work is not to install any third-party drivers (I did another
fresh install) and use the integrated graphics chipset instead. This is fine
most of the time, except from video games, of course.

[Bug 1825842] Re: [vmware] Background goes white when using scaling (200%, 300% or 400%)

2019-11-06 Thread Chris Del Gigante
Issue is still in Ubuntu 19.10 with vmware workstation player 15.5.

One workaround I found is to use gnome-tweaks to select the wallpaper (under
Appearance), and select an Adjustment option of "Wallpaper". Any other
adjustment option causes the white background. Works best with a tile-able
background, or a very large image that would not automatically tile (like a 4k
image).

[Bug 1845076] [NEW] Gnome shell/Xorg freeze after remote connection with monitor unplugged

2019-09-23 Thread Damiano Del Sarto
Public bug reported:

I was trying to have a remote connection on a Ubuntu 18.04 pc with nomachine
(but the behavior with Anydesk is the same) AFTER I unplugged the monitor form
that pc.
Once connected the output on the client freeze by just opening the Activities
panel. If I plug the monitor back in on the server, the gnome shell is glitched
and the only way to gain back control is by doing ALT F2 and then r.
If I keep the monitor plugged in but turned off everything will work as it
should.

[Bug 950843] Re: simple scan fails to scan. "unable to start scan" change scan ner gives no options

2019-01-06 Thread Pablo Menéndez del Barrio
Hi guys, I have the same problem than John and Miles over different
Epson Wifi Scanners or combis (printer + scanner). After searching a
lot, many other Linux Distributions have the same problem in their
latest versions with the scanner drivers well installed and the
conection to the equipment working. Using the program what you want, the
scanner starts (you can see the process on the scanner screen) to do his
work and then all fails.

The most worrisome situation is that anyone of this forums don't give any
solution and it looks like a big problem. To nornmal users and institutional or
educational ines, this type of problems are very important to select a good OS,
and it's crazy that in 2019 we have problems to work propperly with a modern
scan in Linux, no to mention that many manufacturers like Epson still do not
give direct support...

Greetings from Spain,
Pablo.

[Bug 1774583] Re: Resuming does not work with kernel 3.13.0-149-generic

2018-06-02 Thread Del Shole
I've got the same issue with a Shuttle based desktop. It used to suspend
and resume quite happily, but after a recent update to 3.13.0-149 it
hangs on resume. Hibernate still works. Unlike others, downgrading the
kernel doesn't fix the problem (I tried -147 and -145), so maybe there's
an interaction going on with something else which got upgraded? I don't
actually know which version of the kernel it was running before the
issue was introduced. It's not my machine and I don't keep that close an
eye on it.

While digging, I switched to a VT (Ctrl-Alt-F1) to see if it still did
it while a console was active. Yes, it did, but in this case the screen
dropped to a GPF. I took a photo of the screen which is attached.

I'm not in a position to try significant kernel upgrades. The machine
owner needs it stable and uses Virtual Box, so I don't want to mess it
about too much.

** Attachment added: "Photo taken after resume. Ignore the synergys thing,
synergy isn't installed on the box and I forgot that command was in rc.local."

[Bug 1714518] Re: GTK+3 doesn't show FUSE/GVFS, smb (SMB/CIFS), sftp (SFTP/SSH) network shares in file chooser

2018-03-09 Thread Daniel Del Pino
¿Is there a way to resolve this problem in Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS? Path is
not available for this version.

I had created softlink toward /run/user/1001/gvfs/gvfs... but
Libreoffice fail when open files through that path (i/o error).

I have over 70 users in my company with this problem...

[Bug 1633368] Re: After update to 4.4.0-43 HDMI output and usb mouse stopped working

2016-10-14 Thread Del Socorro Françoise
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1633267 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633267

Hello I also had a problem with both primary and second monitor with update to
4.4.0-43-generic Ubuntu 16.04.1 Xenial LTS.
Recovery mode also had - - - instead of letters.
Bug was solved by login in upstart 4.4.0-42-generic.
And weird, he had before installed linux-headers and all for the
4.4.0-43-generic, and after 3 restarts he installed without me deleting neither
touching anything again linux-headers and all for the 4.4.0-43-generic as if it
was not installed.
Maybe first install did not told the computer it was already installed ?
He still wants to update more things, like: linux-headers-generic
linux-image-generic.
I think problem is all those updates should have been done at once, and it is
in more then 4 parts. As if it was a big upgrade. So first it had put the link
to the name, then the programs must be installed in more then 4 times by login
the 4.4.0-42-generic upstart mode.

[Bug 997943] Re: Thunderbird empties messages while copying

2015-01-20 Thread Roberto Rosselli Del Turco
I just added a new mail account to Thunderbird, which requires copy
mailing lists messages on my local folders, and this bug is driving me
crazy. I see there is no progress at all in spite of the fact that it
seems to affect quite a number of people, is there a corresponding bug
open upstream?

[Bug 1406428] Re: Dell XPS L502X Freezes

2015-01-04 Thread Sergio Del Valle
I updated the BIOS as pointed, and was working fine, but after a while
it froze again. Here's the output of the command supplied:

A12
09/07/2012

I didn't reboot the laptop this time, just switched to a terminal
session, with Ctrl + Alt + F2, and then switched back to the GUI
session, and this was enough to get the system responding again.

[Bug 769644] Re: Alt-F2 (or lxpanelctl run) doesn't work

2014-11-18 Thread Dan Del
Just installed lubuntu 14.04.1 64bit same problem still here ;(

tried Bruce's solution worked like a charm
e.g.

commandlxsession-default launcher_manager/command
to
commandlxpanelctl run/command

in

~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml

pretty significant bug to me, alt-f2 very standard used constantly

thanks Bruce

[Bug 1341106] [NEW] System hangs after connecting or disconnecting external monitor

2014-07-12 Thread Samuel Dário Falcão Gabriel del Bello
Public bug reported:

Each time I connect or disconnect the external monitor my ubuntu system
will hang and a Hard reboot is necessary. Only way I manage to have the
external monitor working is to plug it before booting. Which gets quite
annoying after a while.

I had the exact same problem already with ubuntu 12.04 and was hoping
the upgrade of the system to last release 14.04 would solve it. Although
it did not. I am using a vaio vgn-sr19xn with Intel Graphics Media
Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD. The external monitor is a Samsung Tv.

In the wiki says it is a known problem, although I was wondering weather there
is some fix for this?
Which info do you need from me?

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1296263] Re: gnome-power-manager may be related to black screen and auto-power-on noise and Xorg crash

2014-04-14 Thread Del Socorro Françoise
Today black screen but could connect: touched all the echap F1-F12,
everything, and CTRL+everything and Fn+everything and ALT+everything and
Windows button+everything, then typed ENTER and I logged in from black
screen into Precise !!!

So I can send you more info, since, my black screen doesn't speak and
since I just had it !

There you can analyse it and tell me why Ubuntu stopped? Right now my
install is equal to my blog's with exterior intel Glasen driver for it
to work. Was it Ubuntu or material ?
http://memubuntu.wordpress.com/2014/04/05/intel-black-screen-old-laptop-
version-2-precise/

apport-collect 1296263

** Description changed:

  Hello,

My HP Compaq Presario CQ70 a very old portable computer notebook have
been having black screens some sessions after being used from Precise to
  Saucy.

Yesterday I just had Precise being installed. But this morning black
screen. And also a very weird part to explain. You might believe in the
weird part or not but I say as it is since it occured already twice and
  I used pc twice today.

  lsb_release -c -d uname -s -r lspci | grep -i VGA
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
  Codename: precise
  Linux 3.11.0-18-generic
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

  sudo dpkg -s gnome-power-manager
  Package: gnome-power-manager
  Status: purge ok installed
  Priority: optional
  Section: gnome
  Installed-Size: 1584
  Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com
  Architecture: i386
  Version: 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.1
  etc.

Last lost of Precise this morning:
  - Even thought I had tooken out big battery (material) some years ago from my
pc, this morning he made some noise alone, without being on electricity power
and without battery, not being other PC at home (I checked they were off), true
noise when my PC is working, so I deduced my old PC had become photo-voltaïc
like solar panels, it tryed to turn on alone with morning sun light.
  - Then when I put electricity on, it tryed alone to login Ubuntu with laptop
closed. I heard Ubuntu welcome noise sound, so I opened laptop. I did not touch
on/off button. Then what I saw was white mouse on black screen. Deduction: Xorg
crashed.
  - Then when I pulled OFF button to shut him up, then re-start, he restarted
on black screen in silence, except for the internal noise. No Ubuntu welcome
noise.
  - Then when I took out electricity cable to restart it (since it thinks one
method is the other one), it restarted (without the ON button) on the black
screen in silence (except for usual internal noise).
  - Then I restarted it and I re-installed Precise from USB in blind because I
have external monitor/screen/display so I had to memorize BIOS in a blind way,
since it doesn't appears in external monitor.
  - More info: I had put xdiagnose at beginning, and none of the time he did
the internal noise before black screen, he did put xdiagnose output on screen
before BIOS question that I can't see. Before he did put just at start
xdiagnose.

Result: He only support a few sessions before going black screen.
Conclusion: He mistakes ON / OFF / SLEEP / WORK

Than I took some info. Even downloaded it, but couldn't put it on
external USB. So I have it in my e-mail, all ancient logs of errors or
not. And also posted some: Precise while not OK, and Precise in USB new.
  I'll post you later.

So this morning, after Precise beeing installed. Noticed again, when came
back to living room. Noice, but very very low and no battery and no
electricity. If my living room was little more noisy, I wouldn't have noticed.
PC is off, no electricity, no battery and yet, very very low 3 noise types:
  - the continuous noise
  - two times a noise at right (Enter and numbers side)
  - once a noise at left, the one when we got PC ON
  - no lights
All almost not audible, very very low. Could be my memory neurones that
memorized thoses noises or my PC had become photo-voltaïc ? PC is old so could
also be material problems.

So now for bug analysis, data you undersatand.
Joined log.tar.gz so you can see errors.

Only seen error that has to do with you, also present in this brand new
Precise is:

[Bug 867806] Re: df -h permission denied error

2014-04-08 Thread Del Socorro Françoise
For me everything is permission denied without sudo, but they all work well
with sudo, althought last one, at 1st time did not work:
df -h
df: `/root/.gvfs': Permission denied (dissapeard with sudo)
+ answer

ls -la /var/lib/lightdm/ | grep .gvfs
ls: cannot open directory /var/lib/lightdm/: Permission denied (allowed with
sudo)

dmidecode
# dmidecode 2.11
/dev/mem: Permission denied (only gets the answer with sudo)

[Bug 1296263] Re: gnome-power-manager may be related to black screen and auto-power-on noise and Xorg crash

2014-04-04 Thread Del Socorro Françoise
Hello, yes I had put back battery that I had taken out 3years ago.

But each time, from 10 last times, I turn computer on, 1st time it turns
on: black screen, 2nd time I turn it on: it works but sometimes with
/tmp error (The disk drive for /tmp is not ready). So perhaps my problem
could be PC dying ?

All I did till now is in my blog: intel ppa glasen + a lot of changing.
http://memubuntu.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/intel-black-screen-old-laptop/

I forgot to install or xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal
or xserver-xorg-video-intel from Glasen PPA. I thought installing the
PPA was enough. And I'll uninstall xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-saucy.

I have power manager: gnome-power-manager 3.4.0-0ubuntu1.1 , t

I'll install xserver-xorg-video-intel-lts-quantal although I think
xserver-xorg-video-intel is more compatible, but Precise is definitely
-lts.

2014-04-01 Thread Del Socorro Françoise
Have copied from Nautilus all of the .conf from previous Precise. Will
send to you later. A lot of errors while copying because duplicate or
link error.

Is thinking about installing again PPA glasen to have Intel driver on
like some years ago.
