[Bug 497299] Re: upstart not starting init-scripts (event net-device-up IFACE=lo missing)

2010-08-04 Thread docsnyderchristoph
My system is an upgraded Ubuntu 10.04 (from 09.04).

I had the same error behaviour: cups did not start with boot time
(allthough inserted in /etc/rc.local) but did start manually when
entering /etc/init.d/cups start in the terminal

I found the follwoing solution:
when downgrading the package ifupdown from Version 0.7~alpha (which was
installed during the upgrade) to Version 0.6.8ubuntu29, cups now starts
automatically again.

[Bug 200820] Re: gdebi-gtk crashed with ImportError in module()

2010-01-05 Thread docsnyderchristoph
Hi,
I found a solution that worked on my system Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty with gtk-2.0,
python2.6 and libvte9:

I simply deleted the libvte.so files on my system ad did a
reinstallation of the package libvte9!

Now both, gdebi-gtk and gome-terminal as two affected applications, work
again without the symbol lookup error problem.

Cheers.

[Bug 195767] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2008-02-27 Thread docsnyderchristoph
solution found: with the attached xorg.conf, I got a working solution!

the error appears when setting within the InputDevice section for the
keyboard option xorg, leaving this option out, the gnome session
starts.

**
* WORKS *
**
Section InputDevice
Identifier  Generic Keyboard
Driver  kbd
Option  CoreKeyboard
Option  XkbRules
Option  XkbModel  latitude
Option  XkbLayout de
EndSection

**
* FAILS *
**
Section InputDevice
Identifier  Generic Keyboard
Driver  kbd
Option  CoreKeyboard
Option  XkbRulesxorg
Option  XkbModel  latitude
Option  XkbLayout de
EndSection

nevertheless, the erason for that are unclear to me, I just found it by
accident

[Bug 195767] [NEW] Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2008-02-26 Thread docsnyderchristoph
Public bug reported:

I am using the nvidia-glx drivers
under a ubuntu hardy heron alpha 5 release
for my Nvidia graphics card (nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce
Go 7300])
in a dell lattitude d620 laptop
with the driver nv set in the /etc/X11/Xorg.conf file for the device module.
this works, but of couse without any desktop efffects.

Changing this driver option (as switching from the nvidia-glx driver to
the nvidia-glx-new driver) from nv to nvidia to get the 3d desktop
effects, the login window appears correctly, bu after login, the opening
of a GDM session fails where the Xserver crashes and restarts after a
while.

while everything worked well under ubuntu gutsy gibbon with the driver
option nvidia and the 3d desktop effects, I get the reported error
when using it for hardy heron alpha 5.

[Bug 185862] Re: [Hardy] Regression: missing CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDEDMA_PMAC in config makes kernel unusable on apple mac mini

2008-01-31 Thread docsnyderchristoph
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 183338 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183338

this goes to the prelast comment of fuoco:
i would like to test your way of manually compiling the kernel 2.6.24.5 for my
ibook g4 since i got the same errors as reported.

(1) could you please post the additional steps for getting the
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE=y option compiled in the kernel and not loaded as a module?
(i haven't done any manually kernel compiling)

(2) and is then an editing of the config files adding
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_PMAC=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_PMAC_ATA100FIRST=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDEDMA_PMAC=y
still necessary?
