[Bug 2067490] Re: byobu prompt

2024-05-30 Thread Dustin Kirkland 
You can byobu-disable-prompt if you want to turn it off.

I think I've reproduced this, when the command line wraps the screen,
there's some corruption.

I don't have a fix yet. Patches accepted, if someone finds the right
fix...

[Bug 2051720]

2024-05-24 Thread dustin
It looks like that new error is from when I attempted to use my BT
headphones for a meeting the other day after doing a cold boot. It's
unrelated. Sorry about that. You can see at the end of the logs I posted
where bluetooth stopped working after waking from suspend and the error
is the exact error from this bug's description.

2024-05-24 Thread dustin
That error is new. I've actually never seen it before now. The error I
was getting ever since I updated to 6.5+ was exactly the same as the
error in this bug's description. I see it's still in the logs I posted
today in addition to that new error.

Sadly, its short lived. Mine stopped working again after the first
resume from suspend that occurred after the cold boot.

[Bug 1972790] Re: Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

2022-05-23 Thread Dustin Utecht
As written in the bug report before i can't connect with "WPA & WPA2 Personal"
with the message "Failed to connect to the network".
With "WPA3 Personal" i always got the error message that the password is wrong.

After the update "WPA & WPA2 Personal" still don't work (same error
message), but "WPA3 Personal" works now.

[Bug 1974482] [NEW] python3-scikit-rf module in Universe can't be loaded with Python >=3.10

2022-05-20 Thread Dustin Widmann
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release affected: 22.04 (Jammy)
package: python3-scikit-rf
repository: Universe
version:  0.15.4-2

What Happens:
$ python3
Python 3.10.4 (main, Apr  2 2022, 09:04:19) [GCC 11.2.0] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

Importing collections.Sequence was apparently deprecated in Python 3.7. It's
worth noting that release 0.15.4 of scikit-rf is a couple of years old already,
upstream version is 0.22.1. It would be ideal if this could be upgraded or at
least patched (can just "sed -E 's#collections[.](.*)#collections.abc.\1#' -i
utils.py") so that the version in the repo will work with Ubuntu 22.04's
version of Python without modification.

[Bug 1972790] [NEW] Can't connect to hotspot created on ubuntu

2022-05-10 Thread Dustin Utecht
Public bug reported:

We currently have older systems (18.04) with hotspot's and we will migrate to
22.04.
Anything work's fine, expect the hotspot.
The Hotspot will be created and is visible in the WLAN-List, but if the
security is set to "WPA & WPA2 Personal" we get the error message "Failed to
connect to the network".
If we change the Security to "WPA3 Personal" we get the error message "Invalid
Password", even if the password is correct.
As soon we remove the security (change it to "none"), we can connect with out
any problems.

We can reproduce it with a fresh installtion of the Ubuntu Server 22.04
and the following two commands:

apt install network-manager

nmcli c add type wifi ifname wlp3s0 con-name Hotspot autoconnect yes
ssid test-ap 802-11-wireless.mode ap 802-11-wireless.band bg
802-11-wireless.mac-address "80:45:dd:f0:27:ba" wifi-sec.group ccmp
wifi-sec.key-mgmt wpa-psk wifi-sec.pairwise ccmp wifi-sec.proto rsn
wifi-sec.psk "test12345" ipv4.addresses 192.168.60.1/24 ipv4.method
shared && nmcli connection up Hotspot

We thought it could be similar to this issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267
Because if we test it with 20.04 it worked fine, because 20.04 uses the Version
2:2.9.0-21build1 as described in the Ticket.

As @Sebastian Bacher suggested
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267/comments/58), i
created a own report.
In the attachment is the requested log file.

[Bug 1958267] Re: "Connection failed" for WPA Enterprise network (e.g. eduroam)

2022-05-09 Thread Dustin Utecht
I'm not sure if we have the same issue or better if the bug has the same cause.
We installed a ubuntu 22.04 and added a hotspot via nmcli.

The hotspot is visible, but we can't connect with any devices.
As soon we change the security from "WPA & WPA2" to "None" we can connect
without any issues.
If we choose "WPA3 Personal" we get the error message that the password is
invalid (which is not the case).

With 20.04 it works fine (because it still use 2.9-1ubuntu4.3)!
Is there any ETA for the new (fixed) version ?

[Bug 1970107] [NEW] Xorg crash / Graphics Issue

2022-04-24 Thread Dustin Hanselmann
Public bug reported:

I am using a wayland display manager, an internal graphics / Dedicated
Graphics laptop where the HDMI is controlled by the dedicated graphics.
Currently, with proprietary drivers on ubuntu 22.04

When I connect a display to the hdmi it only shows a white screen, when
I try to change the projection to mirror, or external only, it crashes
and goes back onto the logon screen. I currently cannot cast at all to a
monitor. The monitor I am trying to connect is a 4k and my laptop screen
is 1080p if that makes a difference. I am sure I am not the only one who
uses this feature, but because I have a mixture of internal and
dedicated control, it may have more an issue.

[Bug 1892369] Re: Impossible to skip integrity test for ubuntu-server 20.04.1 iso

2021-03-08 Thread Dustin Hartle
This appears to be the case for the 20.04.2 ISO as well. There doesn't
seem to be a way to cancel the integrity check once it's started. It
would be nice to have that option so you don't have to manually edit the
boot options to bypass it.

[Bug 1909879] [NEW] taskwarrior-2.5.2 is out

2021-01-02 Thread Wl-dustin
Public bug reported:

After several years, a new release of TaskWarrior is out - 2.5.2 (with
2.5.3 maybe coming soon). This release brings four years worth of
bugfixes.

https://github.com/GothenburgBitFactory/taskwarrior/releases/tag/v2.5.2

I know maintainers usually spot new releases, but in this case it's not
clear where announcements went in 2016, the last time there was a
release, or who is still tracking those channels. So, apologies if the
release has already been spotted and this is a duplicate. I believe the
GitHub releases page is the right place to watch for new releases.

[Bug 1909612] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in

2020-12-29 Thread Dustin Nisbet-Jones
Hi Chris,

I see your point but would counter that having the option ticked for
'Suspend when laptop lid is closed' and not having it do that when an
external monitor is plugged in is more a bug than a feature.

I agree that this is actually a feature some users may want but this
should be something which can be controlled by the user via a toggle
with the default behaviour being consistent with lid closed = suspend
regardless of whether there is a monitor plugged in or not.

If having a mouse plugged in prevented the laptop from suspending with
the lid closed, this would certainly be a bug.

Thanks for your response.

[Bug 1909612] [NEW] Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in

2020-12-29 Thread Dustin Nisbet-Jones
Public bug reported:

I wish to have my laptop suspend when plugged into my dock with an HDMI
display added. Instead, the system stays on with the monitor becoming
the primary display. Suspending manually will work.

I have tried editing logind.conf and uncommenting
HandleLidSwitch=suspend and the other related items but to no avail.

[Bug 1905370] Re: The tray icon cannot be displayed when the Ubuntu 20.10 is turned on

2020-12-06 Thread Dustin Nisbet-Jones
I will confirm that the fixed that Gnome extension mentioned in comment
#5 did restore the icons (and places them in the centre) for me although
this is not an ideal fix.

Removing/disabling this extension will cause the icons to vanish again.
You can see in the icons there that I have Steam and Nextcloud Sync
working and displaying.

This bug is particularly problematic because the Nextcloud client
actually becomes unusable because there is no way to bring it from the
dock or launch it without the icon.

I wanted to chime in that I also have this issue on my Acer Swift 3 with
4700U. It also only appears to support s2idle and I have no options in
my BIOS to adjust regarding this.

I have tried this with even kernel 5.10rc3 and no fix has come just yet.

[Bug 1879352] Re: /usr/bin/im-launch i3 fails

2020-07-22 Thread Wl-dustin
You are correct that uninstalling `im-config` and reverting
`99x11-common_start` to its original `exec $STARTUP`. But that just
hides the issue by removing the package containing the bug, and in
particular these lines in `70im-config_launch`:

```
if [ -x "$IMLAUNCH" ]; then
STARTUP="$IMLAUNCH $STARTUP"
fi
```

I'm sorry to insist, but I think the understanding of the issue is
incomplete. Please look at the error message in the first comment, and
compare:

```
rubin ~ $ bash -c '/usr/bin/nosuch xyz'
bash: /usr/bin/nosuch: No such file or directory
rubin ~ $ bash -c '"/usr/bin/nosuch xyz"'
bash: /usr/bin/nosuch xyz: No such file or directory
```

the shell includes only the first component of the command line in its
error message, indicating that it has searched for that string in PATH.
In the first comment, you'll see that a space character and `i3` appear
in the error message.

Another fix to this issue is to replace

```
exec $STARTUP
```

with

```
$STARTUP
```

meaning that something in how dash is interpreting that `exec` is
causing it to not split the argument correctly. If this was bash I
might suspect that STARTUP was an array, but dash appears to not support
arrays.

It should be possible to replicate this with a new install, installing
i3 and selecting that option from the login menu.

Ah, I didn't get notified of Gunnar's last comment.

```
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
+++-==-=--
ii  im-config  0.44-1ubuntu1 all  Input method configuration
```

so im-config is installed. As you'll note in the first comment, the
problem is not that `/usr/bin/im-launch` is not avaliable, it's that
`/usr/bin/im-launch i3` (including the space character in the filename)
is not available.

[Bug 1882279] [NEW] PHP Performs Much Better Than This Package When Built From Source

2020-06-05 Thread Dustin Falgout
Public bug reported:

When you compare the performance of PHP installed using this package
with PHP built from source (as it is in the official PHP Docker image)
there is a pretty substantial performance difference. It is not specific
to Docker but using Docker is the easiest way to test it.

When the attached script is served using php-fpm built from source it
performs 10 times better than using php-fpm installed via this package.

2020-05-18 Thread Wl-dustin
I was able to fix this by changing

```
exec $STARTUP
```

to

```
$STARTUP
```

Interestingly, this doesn't leave a shell process running -- it leaves
`gdm-x-session` running. So perhaps that is emulating a shell somehow,
but gets the unquoting wrong for `exec`?

[Bug 1879352] [NEW] /usr/bin/im-launch i3 fails

2020-05-18 Thread Wl-dustin
Public bug reported:

Trying to run i3 in Focal Fossa, login fails. The screen goes black
briefly, then returns to the login screen. I expect this is
reproducible by just installing `i3`, selecting it on the settings in
the login screen, and logging in.

I see the following in the log:
```
May 18 11:32:21 hopper /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[4733]:
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start: line 5: /usr/bin/im-launch i3: No such
file or directory
```

Editing that file to just run `/usr/bin/im-launch i3` works fine. Is
this some kind of shell quoting issue, where it's trying to execve that
full string?

I believe this is in the `x11-common` package:
```
hopper ~ $ dpkg -S /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start
x11-common: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start
```
but Launchpad complains that such a thing does not exist. Perhaps I
misunderstand "package".
