Re: [Bug 1115690] [NEW] aptitude hangs Preparing to replace nagios-nrpe-server 2.12-6ubuntu2

2013-02-05 Thread ebnf
Sorry about the incomplete data.

Preparing to replace nagios-nrpe-server 2.12-6ubuntu2 (using
.../nagios-nrpe-server_2.13-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb)

Yes, this should be against nagios-nrpe; used apport-cli to report this
with the PID argument and it didn't let me choose the target package, it
just assumed aptitude.

Provide at least the full message, which should continue “ (using
foo.deb) ...”. You have not mentioned which version you are
 attempting to upgrade to.

Most likely due to issues with your configuration or the nagios-nrpe
package, so assigning this there. If a fault is demonstrated in
aptitude then reassign back with documentation.

2012-03-07 Thread ebnf
Prior screen data is visible between the greeter login and session
start, even after reboot. This can expose sensitive data to others in
the vicinity. Then this crash happens after session is resumed.

[Bug 924450] Re: rvm cannot find /usr/share/ruby-rvm/README

2012-02-16 Thread ebnf
Looks like the deb forgot to unzip the file, dpkg -L lists
/usr/share/doc/ruby-rvm/README.gz and /usr/share/doc/ruby-
rvm/README.txt.gz. Either that or logic needs to be added to
scripts/functions/installer, scripts/cli, and scripts/help to use -zcat
as an option to the pager and to look at the correct file.

Re: [Bug 222091] Re: package snort-mysql 2.7.0-14 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 6

2008-11-03 Thread ebnf
Yes it is a default config; I figured that something went wrong since the
installer prompts for you to enter the network interface to listen on.

I suppose the bug is that it violated my expectations by prompting for some
information and not the rest that it needs to complete the installation.

On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 7:02 AM, Jean-Baptiste Lallement
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

The error seems to be due to an unconfigured database.
Is it a default configuration ?

Please follow the steps described in the message above and report if it
 helps.

 Thanks.

I am currently using the fireglx driver rather than radeon and all

haven't seen this crash in a while, but it may just be due to the

[Bug 247367] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon uses a large amount of memory

2008-07-10 Thread ebnf
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

$lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release:8.10

$apt-cache policy gnome-keyring
gnome-keyring:

  Version table:
 *** 2.22.3-1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What I expected to happen:

gnome-keyring-daemon uses a reasonable amount of memory and responds in
a reasonable amount of time when applications try to use the services

What happened instead:

the keyring uses 703mb of memory as seen in top:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND

30645 eric 20 0 892m 703m 2508 S0 23.4 21:45.53
gnome-keyring-daemon

Evolution prints the following many times to the console when this
occurs, occasionally it seems to block (UI included) until I hit
Control+C to cancel the attempt to read from the keyring and it tries
again to success.

Pretty much any PDF posted on http://unicode.org/charts/ should render

displayed (Foxit Reader and Acrobat Reader both handle these documents

2008-07-07 Thread ebnf
Chris: Running with the deleted cache results in evolution failing to
completely start, no GUI, but process is active. Running from console
shows the following CalDAV Eplugin starting up ... followed by a
bunch of blank lines, then does nothing. If I kill evolution and
evolution-exchange-storage then it starts again.

2008-07-07 Thread ebnf
It seems the hang may be an issue with gnome-keyring as if I hit
Control + C in the console while evolution is sitting there doing
nothing it gets the following messages until it finally gives up and
then evolution continues per normal. I will continue running to see
if the too many files errors occurs. It's no longer happening on
startup now, but I'll go download a couple hundred more emails and
see.

Re: [Bug 244631] Re: too many open files

2008-07-07 Thread ebnf
I have a pop, an imap and an exchange mailbox. My understanding is
that exchange is stupid and makes the user scan all the files server
side and locally to see if there is mail so maybe it's scanning across
all mail. Other problematic things that I do are to never delete
email from the server or locally and check mail every 1 minute.

Out of interest, what type of mailbox do you use? I use a POP mailbox,
and my cache never has anything in it except for a bunch of empty
 folders.

With a fresh profile and / or fresh user it doesn't exhibit the same
issue; instead the UI becomes unresponsive or the application closes.
Using strace it seems to be blocking on a read of the keyring socket.
