[Bug 1864366] [NEW] most kernel start with 640x400 resolution
Public bug reported: I'm not sure what is the target package for this trouble, anyway I have a notebook with an Nvidia G102M, and till kernel 4.15.0-74 the video driver work well at native screen resolution of 1368x768 @ 60.00 Hz, while all the subsequent kernel start in 640x400 from the display manager/login screen, and seems do not support any other resolution. [Bug 1843126] [NEW] include files conflict with i386 version: split dev packages
Public bug reported: I discovered this with libsdl1.2-dev, but apply to many other -dev packages. Details: Dev packages mainly deliver: 0) /usr/bin/* # optional library tool 1) /usr/include/*.h # headers files 2) /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lib*.a # the compile time library itself 3) /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lib*.so # the run time library itself 4) /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/*.pc #pkg-config file 5) /usr/share/aclocal # other tools and manual files /usr/share/doc-base /usr/share/man The i386 version deliver the library and pkg-config in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu Many packages and its corresponding i386 packages are marked conflict each other, as both contain the same include, tools and manual files. This forbid install both packages at the same time, and so it is impossible generate for both target 64 and 32 bit. As the .a compile library itself for 64 and 32 bit are installed in different paths, make sense split dev packages in three packages: A) common part to both 32 and 64 bit B) compile time library for 64 bit C) compile time library for 32 bit this let install any combination of packages and generate for both 32 and 64 bit at the same time. about this effort duplication, all of you can read the opensource book: "After the software wars": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_the_Software_Wars It speak exacly about the relationship between Ubuntu and the Debian distributions (toghether others very interesting arguments inside MS, and its relationship with future of opensource). Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager disconnecting for a moment the power adaptor with battery 100% charged, the PC enter standby/hibernate, also pressing Cancel (in warn popup that appear) and reconnecting immediately the power adaptor. If I boot the PC without power adaptor connected, the PC work correctly using battery. If then I connect power adaptor, I cannot disconnect it any more because happen the thing described before. Worse I cannot work around this bug, as in Power Preference, Battery Tab, the drop box named: When battery charge is critical the possible choice are only: - Suspend - Hibernate - Shut down and miss "Do nothing" This is a regression on previous Ubuntu ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gnome-power-manager 2.30.0-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-25.44-generic 2.6.32.21+drm33.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-25-generic i686 Architecture: i386 CheckboxSubmission: 1025977719eeebebe5648c8ca87056aa CheckboxSystem: 533a8038ef5a55601694b49142442fa7 Date: Wed Oct 6 21:00:57 2010 GnomeSessionIdleInhibited: No GnomeSessionInhibitors: None GnomeSessionSuspendInhibited: No Lsusb: Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1241:1166 Belkin MI-2150 Trust Mouse Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub MachineType: FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo A Series PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available Socket 1: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card Socket 1: no card ProcCmdLine: root=UUID=887837f3-e54c-4b13-ab46-790dc93fc3d7 ro quiet #splash ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=it_IT:it:en_GB:en PATH=(custom, user) LANG=it_IT.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-power-manager dmi.bios.date: 07/13/2005 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 080011 dmi.board.name: 258KA0 dmi.board.vendor: Uniwill dmi.board.version: 0.01 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr080011:bd07/13/2005:svnFUJITSUSIEMENS:pnAmiloASeries:pvr0.01:rvnUniwill:rn258KA0:rvr0.01:cvnFUJITSUSIEMENS:ct3:cvr: dmi.product.name: Amilo A Series dmi.product.version: 0.01 dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU SIEMENS ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid -- removing power adaptor with battery 100%, the PC enter standby https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/655911 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
