[Bug 1755106] Re: /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load

2019-08-13 Thread Franko Burolo
Not sure if my problem is related to this one. All my shortcuts seem to work as
expected, except for the ones used to control playback: play/pause, next track,
and prev track work only if I use them in combination with the Alt Gr key (aka
Lever 3 Shift).
Since I already have to press Fn to activate media-keys, it means I have to use
a combo of 3 disperse key just to play/pause the music...

I have tried to use the above ppa, but it did nothing, since the
official repos seem to have the updated versions of the packages
already.

I should also say that I have installed my Unity desktop from an initial
Xubuntu desktop setup. So I don't know if I am missing something from
Gnome or if I am having some conflicting setting from XFCE or some other
environment, as I've been DE-hopping quite much in last year...

[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake

2018-05-24 Thread David Franko
After using that patched kernel for 2 days, it's also solves the suspend
freezing problem, i am able to close the lid and open it without removing the
i2c_hid.
Also theres no random freezes/slowdowns like on the 4.14-rc7 kernel.

Oliver & Hans, thank you!

After reverting that patch and applying the other one + resolving the

[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake

2018-02-19 Thread David Franko
I can't test the touchpad on 4.16, since it wont get up from suspend state.
Tried it on 4.16-rc1 and 4.16-rc2 and it was the same. Resume from suspend
worked on 4.15 but not on 4.16 and also on 4.15-rc9 i was able to get a
half-working (cursor movement/tap, but no left/right buttons) touchpad after
resuming the notebook from suspend.
My device is a Chuwi Lapbook Air.

[Bug 1738491] Re: touchpad not working

2018-01-26 Thread David Franko
Okay, i created a respinned ubuntu 16.04 iso with a mainline
kernel(4.15.0rc9)

So if i just push the suspend button instead of closing the lid, i can wake up
the device.
And the touchpad starts working after waking up.
Movement works
Tap works
Left/Right button not

Looks like this issue is really the same as the other bugreport what you
mentioned

Well, i tried that one but i cant get back the device from suspended

Also checked if the touchpad hardware works, on windows 10, it was
working until the latest insider update, they just broke it somehow.

I'm gonna somehow try to check that suspend/resume.

[Bug 1738491] Re: touchpad not working

2018-01-11 Thread David Franko
Hi, maybe this helps something
Someone mentioned on other forums that maybe Hans de Goede's patch (
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10046575/ ) could fix that problem,
but unfortunately it does not, i compiled a kernel which contains his fix but
it does not solve the problem.

What i've found

+#define I2C_VENDOR_ID_HANTICK 0x0911
+#define I2C_PRODUCT_ID_HANTICK_52880x5288

this two product and vendor id is the same on this notebook too.

libinput list-devices recognizes/lists the device
but when im trying to cat /dev/input/eventx, then it has no data in it

Thanks for the efforts

[Bug 1574020] Re: Can't use networkmanager from lightdm

2016-04-24 Thread Franko Burolo
Exactly the same as the OP describes happens on my laptop, too. Clean

Wily, and that I have Atheros wifi on a Toshiba laptop, which only

The most obvious guess is it is a permission-related issue, but I don't

[Bug 1487702] Re: [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch

2015-08-23 Thread Franko Burolo
I hate repeating myself, but: "I am just an end-user, so you will have to use
plain English with me", as stated before. Your posts are mostly gibberish to
me. I don't understand much of what you are trying to say, if anything. And I
still don't understand why do you insist this report is incomplete.
Please, keep in mind that I am obviously NOT AN ALSA DEVELOPER, so explain what
you are talking about at all, and what exactly do you expect me to do, and give
me precise instructions in how to do it, and what's the risk factor, and what
exact info you need, etc. You are not talking to your colleague at work, nor to
your pals at a hack meeting, I am just a guy who'd like to use his headset with
his laptop, that's all.

That said, I guess I understood (the only thing I did!) you wanted to see what
alsa-info.txt looks like with dell-headset-multi enabled, and headset
plugged-in, so there you are, see attachment.
It seems to me that this option is getting me somewhere, but not quite there.
It adds the ability to choose a headset as a capture source, but the mic
remains deaf. Could it be that Alsa is not yet having full support for the
ALC233 codec?

And once again: English, please!

[Bug 1487702] Re: [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch

2015-08-23 Thread Franko Burolo
We don't understand each other, Raymond. I AM trying to use a headset
(headphones + microphone) with a combo TRRS jack on a combo plug, but Ubuntu
never switches to the mic when the headset is plugged, and just uses the
laptop's integrated one instead.
I mentioned dell-headset-multi, because adding that option model was the only
way I could see a headset and mic actually recognized. However, it still keeps
the mic deaf, so there is no use of it for an end user.

I don't think I entirely understand you when you are talking about hex-
coded nodes and pins, I am just an end-user, so you will have to use
plain English with me. And I am not even a native English speaker, while
we are at it...

If you think my bug report is incomplete, I would like you to be so kind
to explain to me how to make it complete. I reported, because I would
really like to see this solved.

Thanks.

[Bug 1487702] Re: [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch

2015-08-22 Thread Franko Burolo
I have tried adding "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi" to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Sound settings seem to recognize a headset is
plugged with that option, but the headset's mic itself remains deaf, no matter
how much boost I give it. I guess the option isn't working correctly, because,
obviously, I am not running a Dell laptop, but also because I am running the
Realtek ALC233 codec, and that option model is only listed as working on codecs
ALC269/270/275/276/28x/29x and ALC66x/67x/892.
I am talking about this list:
http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-kernel.git;a=blob;f=Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt;hb=HEAD
Funny thing is that ALC233 is not listed there at all... Anyway, it seems like,
for now, the closest I could get to make a headset working was with that
Dell-related option. I hope that helps.

[Bug 1487702] [NEW] [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch

2015-08-22 Thread Franko Burolo
Public bug reported:

It is a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-15N to be precise. It has a single combo plug,
and Ubuntu fails to switch to the headset microphone when a combo jack is
plugged in.
Sometimes even the output fails switching to phones, but it only happens very
seldom, and after a reboot it works fine again. But the mic just never ever
switches, only the laptop's built-in one is always working.

I am using an up to date Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet with Unity and
standard audio set-up. I haven't (yet) change anything audio-related. I
have started this bug with apport, so I believe most of these details
are reported there.

Probably a different bug, but it could be related: The built-in mic is
stereo, but only its left side is actually working, as a normal single-
channel mic. The right side is deaf.

Let me know if you need other info.

Thanks!

[Bug 1479054] Re: Shuffle and repeat buttons pressed state does not visually differ from unpressed state

2015-08-16 Thread Franko Burolo
OK, I have just tried the Stylishdark-wps theme, and with it the
difference between pressed and unpressed buttons in Rhythmbox is finally
visible. So it seems like a theme problem, after all.

[Bug 1479054] Re: Shuffle and repeat buttons pressed state does not visually differ from unpressed state

2015-08-16 Thread Franko Burolo
I tried to change themes, a lot of them, and whichever I use, this
problem persists. I really think there is no change at all on the
buttons themselves. In every other application, the difference between a
pressed and an unpressed button is clearly visible.

[Bug 1473088] Re: network manager peap mschapv2 authentication stopped working

2015-07-15 Thread Franko Burolo
This would indicate it is an upstream bug, after all. Is there anybody
able to try the same with Vivid?

I might be wrong, but I don't believe this is wpa-supplicant-related,
because there were reports of being able to connect manually with wpa-
supplicant, from CLI. So it is most likely NetworkManager's fault...
again. But it could also be some change in wpa-supplicant that broke
communication between the two.

[Bug 1473088] Re: network manager peap mschapv2 authentication stopped working

2015-07-10 Thread Franko Burolo
You mean the ignore CA certificate checkbox? On my system it seems to work
fine. If checked, it doesn't ever ask for a cert; in the edit connections
window, under the wireless security tab, the "No CA certificate is required"
checkbox remains checked; and there is no mention of CA certs in
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connetcions/[NetworkName]. So this bit seems fine to
me. What's bothering me, is that nonetheless it just doesn't connect anymore. I
can't check if using a cert would make any difference, as my faculty doesn't
provide one. But I assume Zacharias did test it both ways (CA and no-CA),
getting same results.
It could easily be related to a kernel update, though. Or to a NetworkManager
one, since this is happening on at least three differently branded cards: your
Intel, my Atheros and Sacharias' Broadcom. And all three brands are VERY
common, btw...

[Bug 1473088] Re: network manager peap mschapv2 authentication stopped working

2015-07-09 Thread Franko Burolo
I don't believe this is certificate-related this time. In the linked bug
Zacharias Steinmetz says: "Same on my PC running Vivid (3.19.0-22,
BCM4313), both with certificate added and ignored."

In my case, it is a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-15N with Vivid 64, same
kernel version as Zacharias, but a Qualcomm Atheros card (Qualcomm
Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01), running with
the ath9k module).

Walter Garcia-Fontes suggested on the linked bug that this new one could
be hardware-specific, but here we see that the issue comes up with at
least two different brands of wifi cards, i.e. Atheros and Broadcom.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2015-07-09 Thread Franko Burolo
As I said before, on my Toshiba laptop with Qualcomm Atheros WiFi and Ubuntu
Vivid 64 it worked brilliantly at first (and still it does on a non-updated
live media), but it stopped working, probably after who-knows what update,
which is why I don't believe it is a hardware issue.
That said, I do agree with Walter, we should open a new bug report for this
one. I would do it myself, but for now the only place where I can test this is
my university, which, if everything goes well, I am finishing next week, when
I'll be giving my MA thesis presentation. So, ATM I am kinda busy preparing for
that, and once that's done, my access credentials for the uni network will soon
be cancelled, and I won't be able to contribute any test reports. So I
concluded it would be pretty useless for me to open it.

And then about Steve... :-D I have worked in hotels and restaurants, and
I know very well what special extra spices some customers get, including
those who "despise the free lunch". So go on, enjoy your expensive all-
served meal. It certainly does have that something extra. ;-)

won't connect.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2015-06-29 Thread Franko Burolo
I was today at the faculty again, and I still couldn't connect to the network
with my Ubuntu Vivid laptop, but my Android phone could. As this is only
happening since very recently, it sounds like a bug in Ubuntu to me, too. And
it is probably a regression, since this was working perfectly before, always on
Vivid. I have recently got this laptop, and Vivid is the first, and still the
only OS ever used on it.
Except that in my case, nothing ever pops up. It is just trying to connect
forever. But if it is a new bug, we should open a new report.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2015-06-26 Thread Franko Burolo
A few days ago, I couln't connect to my faculty's PAP network, either... I
thought it was a problem on their side, as they tend to have them every so
often. But now with Vincent's message... I don't know. It may be a new bug in
NetworkManager?
I haven't been to my faculty with my laptop since then to see if the problem
still persists... I'll probably be there again on Monday, so I can re-check.

[Bug 1383690] Re: Brightness and lock [fn] hotkeys don't work until first suspend

2015-02-25 Thread Franko Burolo
Thank you for your answer!
However, I must say I don't feel comfortable with flashing BIOS right now,
because I don't really know how to do it, and I am in a mission critical
situation ATM, so I would rather not risk ending up with an unbootable laptop.
I do understand, after your response, that a BIOS upgrade could fix this, but I
would rather postpone it for after I am done with my critical tasks at hand.

[Bug 1072052] Re: [regression] HUD - No results from Indicator Menus

2015-02-21 Thread Franko Burolo
Hm... Indeed, the bug description is pretty much what happens in this
bug's descrioption. But the discussion going on was all about indicator
not working in general, which is basically why I am subscribed to that
bug. There is even an intervetion from Mark Shuttleworth. :-D

So, in the end, I don't know... Maybe as you said is the best, keep them
separate for now, and let the devs decide.

[Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

2015-02-21 Thread Franko Burolo
In 12.10 the indicator menus were generally working, with occasional
hiccups caused by race conditions, mostly (if not only) related to the
messaging menu. And that's what bug #1072052 is about. Since 13.04,
however, the HUD just doesn't work at all with any indicators anymore.
So basically, this bug is making #1072052 invalid, as we first have to
figure out this one, so we can fix that one, if it will still be a bug.

[I am repeating myself, but it is for this bug's audience sake. :-)]

[Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

2014-12-17 Thread Franko Burolo
I really don't expect to see this patched anymore, until Unity 8 at
least. It is a regression that no dev seemed to care about, in fact, it
was stated it was a design decision, until Mr. Shuttleworth gave
voice... And then it got seemingly ignored again, while most effort went
into the mobile interface, which is now actively being ported and co-
designed for desktop usage as Unity 8. The next LTS should be shipped
with Unity 8 as default, so I guess we'll get whatever solution they
have or have not, or hopefully will found for this in Unity 8. And let's
cross our fingers there will be one, as the HUD team seems to be the
most hermetic of all Ubuntu teams regarding community feedback, so you
never know what really to expect with them, until it is done.

I see. And there is also a vague "hope" from the author himself to push the

buggy xpi file, but the source code has to be "perfect" before published. Like

[Bug 1393794] Re: xul-ext-gdata-provider contains outdated non-working version of Provider for Google Calendar

2014-11-18 Thread Franko Burolo
** Description changed:

Installing xul-ext-gdata-provider gives an outdated version of Provider for
Google Calendar extension for Thunderbird Lightning, which doesn't work with
latest Google API anymore, which makes the package unusable.
The package installs v. 0.32 of the extension (as seen in Thunderbird > Tools
> Add-ons), which, quoting the author of the extension:

"After a previous announcement, Google has shut down the v1 API today
(November 17th) that version 0.32 and 0.25 has been using. This means
those versions will no longer work and you MUST upgrade to 1.0.x to
continue using the Provider for Google Calendar."

And in fact, since yesterday Thunderbird Lightning on my system was
unable to communicate with Google Calendar. Today I upgraded to the
latest version of Porvider for Google Calendar, and now it works even
  better than before.

The newest version of the extension, currently 1.0.2, is available at
  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-
calendar/ and I would suggest an upgrade of the package's content.

I am running Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, but I see Vivid still has the
- same package version. And I guess a good I idea would be to backport the
+ same package version. And I guess a good idea would be to backport the
update to Trusty and Precise, too.

  Thank you very much!

[Bug 1393794] [NEW] xul-ext-gdata-provider contains outdated non-working version of Provider for Google Calendar

2014-11-18 Thread Franko Burolo
Public bug reported:

Installing xul-ext-gdata-provider gives an outdated version of Provider for
Google Calendar extension for Thunderbird Lightning, which doesn't work with
latest Google API anymore, which makes the package unusable.
The package installs v. 0.32 of the extension (as seen in Thunderbird > Tools >

I am running Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, but I see Vivid still has the
same package version. And I guess a good I idea would be to backport the
update to Trusty and Precise, too.

Thank you very much!

[Bug 1384508] Re: No indicator icon for Deluge in Unity

2014-11-12 Thread Franko Burolo
Yes, if you have the option to close to tray icon enabled, Deluge stays
active, but you can't reach the window, while the icon doesn't show up
-- system monitors will list Deluge as running. But when you run Deluge
again from its launcher, it won't open a second instance, but simply
activate the hidden active window. So technically it IS reachable that
way... So I am not totally sure how to answer to your question.

[Bug 1384508] Re: No indicator icon for Deluge in Unity

2014-11-03 Thread Franko Burolo
I couldn't find python-indicator in the repos, but python-appindicator
did solve the issue. I guess it was renamed at some point, or it is a
typo. Anyway, I can confirm that the package (python-appindicator)
solves this, so an explicit dependency on it should fix the bug.

[Bug 1384508] [NEW] No indicator icon for Deluge in Unity

2014-10-22 Thread Franko Burolo
Public bug reported:

Deluge's indicator icon doesn't show up, but it is enabled in
properties.

Go to Edit > Properties > Interface. Enable system tray icon and indicator
applet. (Some items may be called somewhat differently, I am using a croatian
interface, so I translated this on-the-fly)
Expected behaviour: a clickable Deluge icon, with its own menu if clicked,
shows up in the indicator area of the Unity panel.
Actual behaviour: nothing happens at all.

I am using Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn 64-bit (fresh-installed from a beta
image)
Standard Unity interface
Deluge 1.3.10 from official Ubuntu repos

I will gladly provide any other info, if needed.

Thank you very much for your effort and help!

[Bug 988925] Re: util-linux no longer provides ddate

2014-10-14 Thread Franko Burolo
Sure I noticed that... Man, I hate this overserious tendency in Linux
lately, taking the fun out of everything.

Anyway, I bulit myself a deb package (amd64) out of this code:
https://github.com/yath/debian-ddate

Seems like there are plans to add a ddate package into Debian repos:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=764383
I guess it will be mirrored to Ubuntu then?

[Bug 1029289] Re: Need to authorize my google account each time I boot the computer

2014-09-17 Thread Franko Burolo
Thank you, Alberto!
Interestingly, the packages Mathew listed were NOT upgraded along with
evolution-data-server. I upgraded them just now, and it seems to work fine now.
Would it be a good idea to specify those dependencies in the
evolution-data-server package? Should I change the tag to "verification-done"
now? :-)

2014-09-16 Thread Franko Burolo
Matthew, I have enabled trusty-proposed repository, updated repo lists
and then did "sudo apt-get install evolution-data-server" to upgrade it,
and I accepted to install all the necessary dependencies with it. When
finished, I re-disabled that repo. "aptitude show evolution-data-server"
lists the packages you mention as dependencies, so I assume I have them
all up to date with the proposed repo now. Could I be wrong?

Alberto, yes, the calendar service seems to still be the problematic
one. Both before and after I upgraded to the proposed packages the bug
appears only when calendar is enabled. Above, by "unchanged" I meant I
am noticing the exactly same behavior -- no improvements, no
regressions, no changes.

[Bug 1029289] Re: Need to authorize my google account each time I boot the computer

2014-07-31 Thread Franko Burolo
I am a long time Ubuntu user, and I am using Trusty since day one, but I
started to experience this just recently, I guess after 14.04.1 was
released

I have a regular Google account, too. Firefox keeps me logged in, Online
Accounts doesn't.
I don't have to reboot, on my system the bug is reproducable by rurning off and
on the Google account in the Online Accounts diolog.

[Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

2014-05-12 Thread Franko Burolo
The bug was reported a year ago, but they have hopefully just started
fixing it. First they told us this was a DESIGN DECISION, take a look at
commect #8. but days before the Trusty release Mark intervened, and then
he told us he was told it was a REGRESSION caused by some changes in
gtk... So go and figure out... :-/ Anyhow, I doubt they were doing
anything about it before Mark's intervention. But I do hope they really
are working on this now. Some more feedback from the people doing it
would also be nice. Since the HUD teams seems to be kind of autistic
towards bug reporters -- they don't communicate much about them, which
is pretty frustrating.

[Bug 1308348] Re: network settings indicator missing from panel

2014-05-04 Thread Franko Burolo
I am not sure whether this is a lxpanel bug, because whenever I enter in
LXsession configuration the Network GUI field is empty, while my
~/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu/desktop.config does show nm-applet under
network_gui/command. When I add "nm-applet" in the appropriate field in
the Core Applications tab of the LXsession configuration (GUI), and
click Reload, it reappears, but log out/in -- it disappears again.

I don't even have a nm-applet.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart, so
that one is not causing the problem.

Adding nm-applet to manual autostart starts it, so it is kinda ok...
It's only that I guess the it should be able to start normally as a core
app, which it doesn't. :-/

Anyway, the connection works on startup, even without the nm-applet icon
in the panel... But when I have it on panel, it uses the fallback icon,
while the official screenshots on lubuntu.net show a more integrated
one, though it is for a wired connection, which I don't use. So I am
wondering whether this icon is somehow related to this bug, or they
really made a custom icon only for the wired connection... The
disconnected one is still fallback on my machine. I thought, maybe when
we run nm-applet from terminal, autostart or similar, maybe we are
actually running a second instance of it, which could cause it to use
the fallback icon theme... But I don't know really.

[Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

2014-04-01 Thread Franko Burolo
@Rüdiger: I am actually using the HUD quite often as a fast and easy
means to access menus, especially in apps where I do a lot of typing,
like LibreOfffice, Firefox, Gedit etc... But I used to use it a lot also
as a fast and easy means to access the indicators, and I do miss that
feat. :-/

[Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD

2013-11-20 Thread Franko Burolo
It really would be appreciated. My experience with HUD-related bug
reports till now has been quite negative... It's like whatever they are
doing with the HUD, they don't want to communicate it to the community,
which is quite frustrating. For example, the bug where the HUD didn't
work with LibreOffice remained unassigned forever... Then in Saucy it
just started to work again. But now we lost the Indicators... But at
least now somebody told us it was really a (bad) design decision.

I would really like to see more communication about the HUD, as I think
it is the best and most distinctive feature of Unity.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-31 Thread Franko Burolo
I am basically satified with the fix (using Alt+CapsLock), but I can confirm
that if I write in caps lock, when I change layout, the caps lock status resets
to off.
I seldom write in caps lock, so this is just a minor annoyance for me, but I
guess it wasn't supposed to act this way.

I am using standard Unity.

[Bug 1045353] Re: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD

2013-10-24 Thread Franko Burolo
Seems like the HUD is really working fine with LibreOffice in Saucy for me,

released.
But now the HUD doesn't look into indicators at all... But that goes for
another bug report. The LibreOffice issue, which is much more cirtical for me,
seems to be fixed now.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-19 Thread Franko Burolo
Just installed Saucy, and I am confirming this is an issue for me, too.
I managed to set it to ctr+alt+space, which seems to be the least bad
option for me... I was always using alt+caps.

It looks like it forces you to take an alpha-numeric key for the
shortcut, which is unpractical for obvious reasons. So we are forced to
use space there, which is the only really universal cross-layout
alphanumeric key.

It is a serious regression. Especially for us language and literature
students and professionals.

[Bug 1045353] Re: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD

2013-08-15 Thread Franko Burolo
It seems obvious to me that the HUD (or at least the desktop version of

all of them are unassigned. This one is the most heated of them all, and
it is still unassigned, for almost a year now! And the bug is only
worsening from release to release... It seems like the devs just don't
care about it anymore. RIP HUD...

Yeh, in a regular support forum, this would be marked as [solved]... But
this is a bug report, and is still unassigned, since January! :-/

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-05-06 Thread Franko Burolo
You are not seeing this problem because you ARE using CA certificate.
When you don't have one Network Manager should ignore it and connect
anyway, if you tell him so, which doesn't happen without manually editig
a config file to force it to do so.

Now, it IS true that using a cert is safer, but my faculty doesn't even
provide one. The network we use there is not Eduroam (though we have
that too, for guests), but a local one. A year or so ago, I wrote them
about this, they told me that it wasn't necessary, and that they don't
have plans to provide it in the future. So I was thinking "Oh, well,
whatever. As long as I can connect." And from the comments above, I see
that my faculty is not the only one. So this is still of high
importance, if not critical.

[Bug 1045353] Re: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD

2013-05-06 Thread Franko Burolo
...actually, it is even worse than described in the comments. The HUD in
LibreOffice Writer works only with a blank page. The very moment I start
to type anything, it stops working!

[Bug 1045353] Re: LibreOffice commands are not displayed in the HUD

2013-05-06 Thread Franko Burolo
Same here on Raring, fresh install. And I am experiencing the same as
described in comments #38 and #40.

And I agree, LibreOffice is one of the places where the HUD is most
useful, so this is not a trivial issue at all.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-05-06 Thread Franko Burolo
So, we know that Network Manager should eihter remove that line or set
it on false automatically, but it doesn't. We know it probably happens
only in Gnome, though. See comment #29. I guess Kubuntu uses Network
Manager too, but I might be wrong. No devs at all interested into
investigating this, really?

Maybe they are trying to induce us to learn programming and fix it
ourselves. :-D

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-05-02 Thread Franko Burolo
The workaround works for me, too. Even without making the file read-
only. I connected at my faculty's library in the early afternoon today.
But I still think this is a critical issue, that could turn people away
from Ubuntu.

It's very interesting what vacalola said about the old unchanged live
image working once, and then not... Yet, the fact remains that this
works completely fine in both 12.04 and 12.10, and just in 13.04 not.

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-05-02 Thread Franko Burolo
Same problem here. And 13.04 really is the first Ubuntu where this doesn't
work. And sure it IS critical!
If this is not fixed, Ubuntu will prove useless for most education
(students/profs) and business users. And the bug is still unassigned since
January?! Come on!

I just can't believe that the swirl direction of the BFB icon was a more
important bug than this one... In terms that it was promptly addressed,
unlike this one.

[Bug 1102493] Re: Items in messaging menu are not included in HUD

2013-03-25 Thread Franko Burolo
In fact, it doesn't show ANYTHING in that menu, at all. I can't start a
new message in Thunderbird neither, nor Thunderbird whatsoever, nor
Gwibber... It's like the menu and the HUD are not communicating at all.
All the other menus, except the messaging one seem to work as expected.

Oh, and the blue envelope remains blue on open/close HUD in my case. But
I am using Twitter, if that matters.

** Also affects: indicator-messages

[Bug 1053641] Re: [i915] Kernel mode setting broken since 3.5.0-15.22 (Intel HD3000)

2013-01-17 Thread Franko Burolo
Oh, and I forgot to say that I am using Bodhi Linux right now. It is
Precise-based, but it gets some kernel upgrades. Latest is 3.7.0-7, with
which I experience the same problem. No problems with Linux 3.2.0-35, so
I am using that one right now. But I guess I can't stick to that one
forever... :-/

I will be glad to return to main Ubuntu as soon as this is solved.

2013-01-17 Thread Franko Burolo
This bug still affects my machine with an ATI RV516 [Mobility Radeon
X1350]. I can't even start the live session without nomodeset, which
totally breaks my hw acceleration. This is my production machine, so I
am unable to test this other than with a live session, because I don't
want to install it this way.
