[Bug 1755106] Re: /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load
Not sure if my problem is related to this one. All my shortcuts seem to work as expected, except for the ones used to control playback: play/pause, next track, and prev track work only if I use them in combination with the Alt Gr key (aka Lever 3 Shift). Since I already have to press Fn to activate media-keys, it means I have to use a combo of 3 disperse key just to play/pause the music... I have tried to use the above ppa, but it did nothing, since the official repos seem to have the updated versions of the packages already. I should also say that I have installed my Unity desktop from an initial Xubuntu desktop setup. So I don't know if I am missing something from Gnome or if I am having some conflicting setting from XFCE or some other environment, as I've been DE-hopping quite much in last year... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1755106 Title: /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-settings-daemon/+bug/1755106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I hate repeating myself, but: "I am just an end-user, so you will have to use plain English with me", as stated before. Your posts are mostly gibberish to me. That said, I guess I understood (the only thing I did!) you wanted to see what alsa-info.txt looks like with dell-headset-multi enabled, and headset plugged-in, so there you are, see attachment. It seems to me that this option is getting me somewhere, but not quite there. It adds the ability to choose a headset as a capture source, but the mic remains deaf. We don't understand each other, Raymond. I AM trying to use a headset (headphones + microphone) with a combo TRRS jack on a combo plug, but Ubuntu never switches to the mic when the headset is plugged, and just uses the laptop's integrated one instead. I mentioned dell-headset-multi, because adding that option model was the only way I could see a headset and mic actually recognized. However, it still keeps the mic deaf, so there is no use of it for an end user. I don't think I entirely understand you when you are talking about hex- coded nodes and pins, I am just an end-user, so you will have to use plain English with me. And I am not even a native English speaker, while we are at it... If you think my bug report is incomplete, I would like you to be so kind to explain to me how to make it complete. [Bug 1487702] Re: [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch
I have tried adding "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. Sound settings seem to recognize a headset is plugged with that option, but the headset's mic itself remains deaf, no matter how much boost I give it. I guess the option isn't working correctly, because, obviously, I am not running a Dell laptop, but also because I am running the Realtek ALC233 codec, and that option model is only listed as working on codecs ALC269/270/275/276/28x/29x and ALC66x/67x/892. I am talking about this list: http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-kernel.git;a=blob;f=Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt;hb=HEAD Funny thing is that ALC233 is not listed there at all... Anyway, it seems like, for now, the closest I could get to make a headset working was with that Dell-related option. [Bug 1487702] [NEW] [SATELLITE C50-B, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch
Public bug reported: It is a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-15N to be precise. It has a single combo plug, and Ubuntu fails to switch to the headset microphone when a combo jack is plugged in. This would indicate it is an upstream bug, after all. Is there anybody able to try the same with Vivid? I might be wrong, but I don't believe this is wpa-supplicant-related, because there were reports of being able to connect manually with wpa- supplicant, from CLI. [Bug 1473088] Re: network manager peap mschapv2 authentication stopped working
You mean the ignore CA certificate checkbox? On my system it seems to work fine. If checked, it doesn't ever ask for a cert; in the edit connections window, under the wireless security tab, the "No CA certificate is required" checkbox remains checked; and there is no mention of CA certs in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connetcions/[NetworkName]. So this bit seems fine to me. What's bothering me, is that nonetheless it just doesn't connect anymore. I can't check if using a cert would make any difference, as my faculty doesn't provide one. But I assume Zacharias did test it both ways (CA and no-CA), getting same results. It could easily be related to a kernel update, though. Or to a NetworkManager one, since this is happening on at least three differently branded cards: your Intel, my Atheros and Sacharias' Broadcom. [Bug 1473088] Re: network manager peap mschapv2 authentication stopped working
I don't believe this is certificate-related this time. In the linked bug Zacharias Steinmetz says: "Same on my PC running Vivid (3.19.0-22, BCM4313), both with certificate added and ignored." In my case, it is a Toshiba Satellite C50-B-15N with Vivid 64, same kernel version as Zacharias, but a Qualcomm Atheros card (Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01), running with the ath9k module). As I said before, on my Toshiba laptop with Qualcomm Atheros WiFi and Ubuntu Vivid 64 it worked brilliantly at first (and still it does on a non-updated live media), but it stopped working, probably after who-knows what update, which is why I don't believe it is a hardware issue. That said, I do agree with Walter, we should open a new bug report for this one. I would do it myself, but for now the only place where I can test this is my university, which, if everything goes well, I am finishing next week, when I'll be giving my MA thesis presentation. So, ATM I am kinda busy preparing for that, and once that's done, my access credentials for the uni network will soon be cancelled, and I won't be able to contribute any test reports. So I concluded it would be pretty useless for me to open it. And then about Steve... :-D I have worked in hotels and restaurants, and I know very well what special extra spices some customers get, including those who "despise the free lunch". So go on, enjoy your expensive all- served meal. I was today at the faculty again, and I still couldn't connect to the network with my Ubuntu Vivid laptop, but my Android phone could. As this is only happening since very recently, it sounds like a bug in Ubuntu to me, too. And it is probably a regression, since this was working perfectly before, always on Vivid. [Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD
I really don't expect to see this patched anymore, until Unity 8 at least. It is a regression that no dev seemed to care about, in fact, it was stated it was a design decision, until Mr. Shuttleworth gave voice... And then it got seemingly ignored again, while most effort went into the mobile interface, which is now actively being ported and co- designed for desktop usage as Unity 8. The next LTS should be shipped with Unity 8 as default, so I guess we'll get whatever solution they have or have not, or hopefully will found for this in Unity 8. And let's cross our fingers there will be one, as the HUD team seems to be the most hermetic of all Ubuntu teams regarding community feedback, so you never know what really to expect with them, until it is done. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165420 Title: Unable to access indicators from HUD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1165420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, if you have the option to close to tray icon enabled, Deluge stays active, but you can't reach the window, while the icon doesn't show up -- system monitors will list Deluge as running. Matthew, I have enabled trusty-proposed repository, updated repo lists and then did "sudo apt-get install evolution-data-server" to upgrade it, and I accepted to install all the necessary dependencies with it. When finished, I re-disabled that repo. "aptitude show evolution-data-server" lists the packages you mention as dependencies, so I assume I have them all up to date with the proposed repo now. [Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD
The bug was reported a year ago, but they have hopefully just started fixing it. First they told us this was a DESIGN DECISION, take a look at commect #8. but days before the Trusty release Mark intervened, and then he told us he was told it was a REGRESSION caused by some changes in gtk... So go and figure out... :-/ Anyhow, I doubt they were doing anything about it before Mark's intervention. But I do hope they really are working on this now. Some more feedback from the people doing it would also be nice. [Bug 1308348] Re: network settings indicator missing from panel
I am not sure whether this is a lxpanel bug, because whenever I enter in LXsession configuration the Network GUI field is empty, while my ~/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu/desktop.config does show nm-applet under network_gui/command. When I add "nm-applet" in the appropriate field in the Core Applications tab of the LXsession configuration (GUI), and click Reload, it reappears, but log out/in -- it disappears again. I don't even have a nm-applet.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart, so that one is not causing the problem. Adding nm-applet to manual autostart starts it, so it is kinda ok... It's only that I guess the it should be able to start normally as a core app, which it doesn't. :-/ Anyway, the connection works on startup, even without the nm-applet icon in the panel... But when I have it on panel, it uses the fallback icon, while the official screenshots on lubuntu.net show a more integrated one, though it is for a wired connection, which I don't use. So I am wondering whether this icon is somehow related to this bug, or they really made a custom icon only for the wired connection... The disconnected one is still fallback on my machine. I thought, maybe when we run nm-applet from terminal, autostart or similar, maybe we are actually running a second instance of it, which could cause it to use the fallback icon theme... [Bug 1165420] Re: Unable to access indicators from HUD
It really would be appreciated. My experience with HUD-related bug reports till now has been quite negative... It's like whatever they are doing with the HUD, they don't want to communicate it to the community, which is quite frustrating. For example, the bug where the HUD didn't work with LibreOffice remained unassigned forever... Then in Saucy it just started to work again. But now we lost the Indicators... Just installed Saucy, and I am confirming this is an issue for me, too. I managed to set it to ctr+alt+space, which seems to be the least bad option for me... I was always using alt+caps. It looks like it forces you to take an alpha-numeric key for the shortcut, which is unpractical for obvious reasons. [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
You are not seeing this problem because you ARE using CA certificate. When you don't have one Network Manager should ignore it and connect anyway, if you tell him so, which doesn't happen without manually editig a config file to force it to do so. Now, it IS true that using a cert is safer, but my faculty doesn't even provide one. The network we use there is not Eduroam (though we have that too, for guests), but a local one. A year or so ago, I wrote them about this, they told me that it wasn't necessary, and that they don't have plans to provide it in the future. So I was thinking "Oh, well, whatever. As long as I can connect." And from the comments above, I see that my faculty is not the only one.
