Encrypted partition contains lvm volumes (lvm-boot, lvm-root, lvm-home, etc) using grub> ls to find encrypted partition and performing grub> cryptomount makes lvm volumes accessible. Setting linux and initrd to appropriate files in lvm-boot allows subsequent successful boot. Upgrade procedure appears to have lost previous configuration. The search.fs_uuid will fail if the key for the encrypted partition has not been given and the encrypted partition opened via cryptomount first, so it looks like update-grub is missing something it didn't before, which, I guess, has something to do with the transition from grub 2.02 to grub 2.04. [Bug 1927857] Re: Update to grub 2.04-1ubuntu44 breaks booting
After another automatic software update of grub: Extract from /var/log/apt/history.log Start-Date: 2021-06-20 23:13:33 Commandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.135' Upgrade: ..., grub-efi-amd64-signed:amd64 (1.167~18.04.3+2.04-1ubuntu44.1, 1.167~18.04.5+2.04-1ubuntu44.1.2), ... End-Date: 2021-06-20 23:16:23 The grub, cfg on the EFI System Partition at /boot/efi/EFI/Ubuntu/grub.cfg was replaced with a new version. I had edited the old version to include a necessary 'cryptomount' as the first line Previous version cryptomount -u search.fs_uuid root lvmid/ set prefix=($root)'/grub' configfile $prefix/grub.cfg This was replaced by a grub.cfg that lacked the first line search.fs_uuid root lvmid/ set prefix=($root)'/grub' configfile $prefix/grub.cfg This obviously prevents successful booting. This did not happen on previous upgrades before this bug was raised, so a breaking change* has occurred to the scripts that both generate a working grub.cfg and place it in the relevant place. Anyone who doesn't know their way around the grub command line and understand the use of cryptomount and lvm would have a very difficult time resolving the problem. The quick resolution is 1) At the grub> prompt enter 'cryptomount -a', and provide the necessary passphrase 2) Point linux at the correct place: linux (lvm/>)/ 3) Point initrd at the correct place: initrd (lvm/ 4) boot 5) Edit the new grub.cfg or replace with the old one. *The breaking change appears to be that the script no longer correctly handles the encrypted partition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927857 Title: Update to grub 2.04-1ubuntu44 breaks booting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2-unsigned/+bug/1927857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1860268] Re: window titlebar is disturbed on all non-maximized windows
Also, some other desktop elements like tooltips, drop down lists or even the selection rubberband box of the screenshot feature are affected. It seems, that the the similarity of this is a comparable small *height*. The rubberband selection for instance is disturbed, if the enclosed height is about less than a few lines and this is totally independent from the width. For comparison, I create some squares with a bitmap editor: The quirks seems to have "shifted" band sections with a height of 8px. It disappear, if the height reaches about 8*8px. More exact, it aligned to height mod 8 and disappear, if (upper-lower) mod 8 >= 8. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860268 Title: window titlebar is disturbed on all non-maximized windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed-hwe/+bug/1860268/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1781654] [NEW] No way of displaying a tooltip in fallback mode
Public bug reported: Current status notifier/application indicator implementations such as KDE Plasma or the Xfce Status Notifier Plugin display the indicators "title" and "icon-desc" or "attention-icon-desc" properties in a tooltip. In fallback mode, i.e. when the icon is a tray icon, does not show a tooltip and neither provides an API to make use of the tooltip functionality of the GtkStatusIcon. This is specifically a problem for my project package-update-indicator which notifies of available package updates with an icon. If users miss the associated notification or do not use a notification daemon it is rather confusing without a tooltip providing the name of the indicator it belongs to as well as an brief explanation like "Updates available". I've created a patch which replicates the behavior of KDE Plasma or the Xfce Status Notifier Plugin in fallback mode by displaying a tooltip with the contents of the "title" and "icon-desc" or "attention-icon- desc". ** Affects: libappindicator (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1781654 Title: No way of displaying a tooltip in fallback mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libappindicator/+bug/1781654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1748785] [NEW] Title Bar Buttons Obscured by Garbage
Public bug reported: Gnome Terminal application has title bar upper right corner buttons obscured by an overlaid "chrome frame fragment". The buttons do, however, function. Please note. [Bug 1734447] [NEW] BN_cmp regards negative and positive zero as different numbers
Public bug reported: "BN_cmp() returns -1 if a < b, 0 if a == b and 1 if a > b." ( https://wiki.openssl.org/index.php/Manual:BN_cmp(3) ) The libcrypto.a shipped with Ubuntu makes a distinction between a negative 0 ("-0") and a positive zero ("0"). This means that BN_cmp(-0, 0) returns -1 and BN_cmp(0, -0) returns 1. The latest versions of OpenSSL (1.0.2m and 1.1.0g) both return 0 for both comparisons, which is what you would expect. lsb_release -rd: Description:Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS Release:16.04 Tested on both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of this Ubuntu release. Attached is a proof of concept. The anomaly may also be caused by BN_dec2bn rather than BN_cmp. The bug is unlikely to have direct security consequences, but may cause unexpected behaviour in other applications that depend on this widespread library. [Bug 1633207] Re: VM fails to start with dac security driver added
dfbc9a83 was necessary since libvirt changed the paths of the monitor socket in a89f05ba8df095875f5ec8a9065a585af63a010b. We had to switch from VIR_DOMAIN_DEF_PARSE_INACTIVE to active since we need the domain id (ctl->def->id) as it is part of the socket path now. It would probably o.k. to skip validation but we need to parse the active domain config to get the id. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633207 Title: VM fails to start with dac security driver added To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1633207/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1520519] Re: ASUS ROG GL552 TouchPad not detected
Hello Guys, I also have exactly the same problem. I tryed using different linux distributions - ubuntu 14.04.3; sound is not working, mousepad neither, mouse crash from time to time, video card is not working propertly, it runs videos too fast and without audio eventhought I instaled -nVIDIA drivers. - ubuntu-mate.15.10 ; I can't even star ubuntu after installation. - fedora 23; This is the distributuion that looks working better than the others, the problem here stills the mouse pad detection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1520519 Title: ASUS ROG GL552 TouchPad not detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1520519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
