[Bug 1816947] Re: [Dell XPS L321X] The touchpad doesn't work unless the cursor is moved slowly.

2019-05-25 Thread guy sansom
Any solution pending on this? I have same fault - as expected I guess.
Have just rebuilt PC from old Ubuntu 16.04LTS to 18.04LTS and Trackpad has
developed same problem.
Confirming I'm on DELL XPS13 L321X
 - Trackpad only works sporadically, short distances, if very light touch and
moving slowly++
 - Cannot click and drag anything
 - Cannot highlight text
PS: I'm virtually coding illiterate but will do whatever I can to assist if
needed
Is there something I can download and overwrite as a fix?
If so, please spell out coding syntax required to complete
Cheers guys. (Linux noob)

[Bug 1700357] [NEW] package linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic (not installed) failed - even after "sudo apt-get update AND sudi apt-get upgrade"manually to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation

2017-06-25 Thread guy sansom
Public bug reported:

package updates continue to stall during installation, orange progress
bar stops mid way or at end.

I then successfully updated and upgraded with
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
as suggested at
https://askubuntu.com/questions/927725/updates-wont-install-software-center-stuck/927727

this appeared to successfully update and upgrade OS.
Hpwever on reboot, OS update still appears in Ubuntu Software update list and
still gets stuck on installation

running well otherwise
thanks guys,
Guy

[Bug 1687520] Re: package linux-image-4.8.0-51-generic 4.8.0-51.54~16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 128

2017-05-30 Thread guy sansom
Update package appears to have stalled.
Initially orange installing progress bar showed install progress was
progressing...
Then "Install" button returned to original appearence saying "Install" again...
Pressing button a second time resulted in "Install" button graying out
Button then just stuck in this grayed out state.

Full reboot does not resolve the issue, with "OS Update" refusing to install.
(Pressing button now does show orange loading bar, but "OS Update" button then
reverts to original state, still saying "Install".)
