[Bug 1275584] [NEW] Kubuntu 14.04 Kickoff Font Look Ugly / Jerky

2014-02-02 Thread j2snowden
Public bug reported:

I have turned on slight hinting antialiasing for GTK must have apps in
Kubuntu 14.04 (February 2014 daily builds). The apps menu fonts look
good now (increased the size to 10 from 9- should be default anyway),
but the KICKOFF menu fonts look ugly and VERY JERKYy. Qt apps look good.
Other KDE distros (like Kororra based on Fedora does not have this
problem at all). Not good for an LTS. Not at all. Immediate fix request.

[Bug 625331] Re: Multiple-tag research is not available

It defies all the purpose of switching from good photo manager like
F-spot to a s-h-i-t-t-y Shottwell, which is a half ar-sed God knows
what. If you cannot use multiple tags you can just use file manager like
Nautilus and folders. Not need for Shottwell to be in Ubuntu at all.
Remove it.

[Bug 447563] Re: Compiz Fusion has tearing even with Sync to VBlank with nVidia cards

2009-11-18 Thread j2snowden
Its a HUGE regression in 9.10 from 9.04.

In Ubuntu 9.10 the tip from www.tombuntu.com to fix the tearing only
works for Compiz not video. I have a video tearing no matter what. If I
apply these tips the video tearing on a horizontal camera or object
move- remains.

In Ubuntu 9.04 I had to only turn on sync to vblank and I didn't have
to touch other settings at all. In Ubuntu 9.10 these tips do not work at
all. I tried the drivers 1.85 (included) and 1.9xx. It doesn't help- the
video tearing remains.

This is a havy regression, that for me is a complete showstopper. Just
after 2 years adventure with Ubuntu and its foibles with audio and
Nvidia video drivers. This also means that I'm writing this text under
Win 7 beta. And one more thing: the video quality of Xvid is much better
in Win 7.

I would like to come back to Ubuntu, but I'm just a user, not a reverse
engeneer for graphics or compiz or whatever developer.

PS.
I susspect somethning fishy as MS added a code to the kernel, as well as Intel
and Nvidia have sued each other havily recently and Intel was working like
crazy on the drivers for Linux (bribing the Nvidia developer or adding sth to
the kernel). Plus I will not buy new compueter with AMD/ATi because the linux
driver manager has just left after 6 years and they drivers are not there yet.

[Bug 484995] [NEW] video tearing in nvidia and slow video refresh regardless of composite and settings

2009-11-18 Thread j2snowden
Public bug reported:

Huge Regression In 9.10 from 9.04.

I tried this:
http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2009/09/20/make-compiz-run-smoothly-and-without-tearing/

and still have a video tearings (but no more compiz tearings). So I also
tried to turn on sync to vblank in Nvidia. Tearing remains.

So then I tried the new driver 1.9xx. Still have tearings in any video!

So then I disabled composite:

File: /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section Extensions
Option Composite Disable
EndSection

and stil no luck. Instead of tearing I have got very weired videos.
Something like not enough refresh rate- just like before tearing. Its
ugly and I called it Pre-tearing. Although refresh rate is 59.94 as
Nvidia X Server Settings indicates (60 Hz in CSSM).

Any Ideas?? Because after 2 years wiht Ubuntu I went back to Windows.
Nice videos, better video quality (eg. Xvid)

[Bug 370597] Re: Screen tearing at top of screen with VSync enabled on Compiz with fullscreen OpenGL programs

2009-11-18 Thread j2snowden
I have this bug too. Is a f...g showstopper. Was ok with ccsm and vsync
to blank in Jaunty but on Karmic its unfixable. No matter what you do
you have this annoying tearing. Somebody fix this, please. Already
watching vidoes on Window 7. Works like a charm. No tearing, excellent
video quality, no interlace, image and video sharpening in nvdia drivers
as well as colours. Works great, smooth, no bugs. Love it and goodby
Ubuntu. 2 years is too much to deal with this things. You do not fix,
somebody finds a fix and insted to fix it you make it impossibe for us
to fix it. Great! Thats why people hate you. Thats why. loved Ubuntu,
thought you'll be fixing bugs, making user experience better. Instead
poeple can't even play vidoes normally. Just such a basic thing people
do on their computers nowdays is broken by Canonical. I think nobody at
Canonical tries to watch a single video on Ubuntu. They have Windowses
for that and they don't care. Mr Shuttleworth have already admitted that
Windows 7 is great. So why bother to make a new system, nobody is going
to use. Event the maker. Its a joke. Go and buy Windows 7 as Mr.
Shuttleworth and you will be fine. He doesn't use Ubuntu, why should
you?? And thing about users and not programmers. Even developers can't
fix this, so what a poor user can do? I know I'm back to Windows. Oh and
one more thing: gery, brown and orange sucks!

** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

[Bug 401799] [NEW] Little Random Audio Skipps. PIPLINE? ALSA? or GStreamer?

2009-07-20 Thread j2snowden
Public bug reported:

Its critical as its a show-stopper. Do not downplay on this bug and do
not ask me stupid questions. Just fix it, please. Its all explained
below, so read it and let me know. If you don't understand English, send
this to someone who does.

Read ALL the following:

PROBLEM:
While playing a sound [no matter what: mp3, vorbis, FLAC, perfectly ripped], it
RANDOMLY skips, very little, a few times (like 3x) a track. If you rewind and
hear the same spot again, you hear no skipping.

REPRODUCTION [be careful to follow the instruction to the latter]:
Put on your headphones. Use Totem (GStreamer) or Rythmbox (GStreamer) or VLC
Player. Play a sound (your favoruite 3 music tracks) and set your ears not to
listen to the music but to hear glitches and skips. Do not rewind. Listen All 3
songs. Note the times of the skips. Then hear the tracks again, but do not
rewind. You will hear very subtle, but annoying skips in DIFFERENT places. This
means something is wrong with ALSA/GSstreamer, not the song file itself.

Stop now. Its not the spikes and high CPU load. Do not try to put it
aside, and not to do the job. I cannot fix it, but you can. So please do
not put it into the rubbish bin, because someone may not notice the bug.
We notice it and it annoys us very much.

WHO ELSE REPORTED IT?:
People with OpenSusse. Look at this thread:
http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/multimedia/404627-stuttering-skipping-audio-through-gstreamer-8.html
They will rather first die trying to figure it out, rather than solve the
problem. Neither will I solve it, not to mention figure out wtf is the cause.

Why annoying?:
Would you like your favourite music to skip randomly? Would you? Please fix it.

Ubuntu 9.04 64bit+ restrected extras (GStreamer)+ all updates - these
are the all info you need, because you know what you have put inside, do
you.

Please let me know if you are on the track to solve this annoying issue.

Thank you
Tomas
