I'm using KDE 4.6 in Kubuntu Natty (11.04). Is there any other information that I can provide to make it easier to spot the bug? I have the same problem in Natty (final release). How to reproduce: 1. Open xchat 2. Menu Settings Preferences Interface Text box 3. Tick Transparent background 4. Click OK 5. A window pops up. It says: Unable to set transparent background! You may be using a non-compliant window manager that is not currently supported. 6. Transparent background is not set.
