Re: [Bug 1778932] Re: rsync can trigger system crash
I was not really able to use a kernel older than 4.15 because of my GPU. And it seems to perhaps be more unstable now than it was when it was initially installed. I really desire a low-latency kernel, though. I've kept BIOS updated to the most recent release from the manufacturer. I'l try 4.18 kernel. thanks. Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? [Bug 1741314] [NEW] "systemctl enable mdmonitor" fails
Public bug reported: mdadm package appears to not be complete. trying to enable mdmonitor to launch automatically for systemd, but it fails with this warning: # systemctl enable mdmonitor The unit files have no installation config (WantedBy, RequiredBy, Also, Alias settings in the [Install] section, and DefaultInstance for template units). This means they are not meant to be enabled using systemctl. Possible reasons for having this kind of units are: 1) A unit may be statically enabled by being symlinked from another unit's .wants/ or .requires/ directory. 2) A unit's purpose may be to act as a helper for some other unit which has a requirement dependency on it. 3) A unit may be started when needed via activation (socket, path, timer, D-Bus, udev, scripted systemctl call, ...). 4) In case of template units, the unit is meant to be enabled with some instance name specified. I'm pretty sure the Monitor's resolution was properly detected in 15.10 (4096x2160). It was called "Goldstar Company Ltd" but I do not recall which size was detected. [Bug 1570653] [NEW] 4K Monitor not detected properly
Public bug reported: 4K monitor is not properly detected. using xfce desktop "Display" utility, my monitor is detected as "Goldstar Company Ltd 27" with a resolution of 3840x2160 and 60.0Hz The actual monitor is an LG 31MU97-B Black 31" with a resolution of 4096x2160. I'm pretty sure the Monitor's resolution was properly detected in 15.10 (4096x2160). It was called "Goldstar Company Ltd" but I do not recall which size was detected. (27" or 31") I remember seeing a 4K youtube video in 15.10 and noting the black bands on each side of the display, due to the difference between 3840 and 4096. [Bug 915107] Re: network applet does not work properly for wireless
ok, I'll say all of this again. the applet that launches under system settings to configure network does not work properly for Wireless and Manual IPv4 for anyone who is not an administrator. I want to have Manual wireless IP address on this laptop. Not DHCP. This permissions problem does not occur with Wired connection. The laptop gets an DHCP IPv4 for wired connection. Wireless IP address broke. Wired not broke, as bad. I can configure a Wireless Manual IP address for myself. I log out. and another person logs in. When this other account tries to make the Wireless connection work.. That person must enter the Admin password to get permissions to enable Wireless. Then, wireless only works for DHCP. [Bug 914575] Re: sound applet does not display all alsa hw sound
I can add the black list entry to blank out the HDMI card. I will report back on this. This remedy, if it works, will not be optimum.. because a non-admin user will not be able to switch between sound sources. I can remove the /etc/asound.conf file, not a problem. I was trying to get it to work. by creating it, and I proved that alsa was able to identify the desired sound card as the default. that's why I made it. The second sound source was not appearing as a hardware choice in the applet. that's another reason why I created the /etc/asound.conf file. I'll remove it, log out, log back in. and I'm really sure the second hardware choice will not appear. as it was before.. :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/914575 Title: sound applet does not display all alsa hw sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/914575/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
