[Bug 395856] [NEW] Jaunty's memory management worse than Intrepid's
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Jaunty, I experience conditions where X freezes and the machine swaps for 5-20 minutes. I mostly work with Java applications but this did also happen with Wireshark. The problem is 100% reproducible, e.g. when I do two Maven compiles at the same time. A single Maven compile consumes ~128MB while two simultaneous compiles give me 800MB of swap. I even disabled the swap and the machine was still trashing on the harddrive. According to btrace it was the swapper process, but I confirmed with free that there was no swap. Maybe this is due to memory mapping? I did also try to set swappiness to 0 with no difference. The problem happend some minutes ago when I clicked on the close file button of wireshark: the mouse cursor froze and the machine trashed on the hard drive for about a minute. This is the output of free right after this: total used free sharedbuffers cached Mem: 330969622971281012568 0 14768 589508 -/+ buffers/cache:16928521616844 Swap: 419839212785322919860 So, 1.2GB of swap and 1.6GB of free RAM? I am doing the same work with Jaunty that I used to do with Intrepid on the same machine. To be exact I have it on my home machine and on my work machine, both upgraded to Jaunty. [Bug 351565] [NEW] Evolution shows 32763 unread and -41882284 total mails
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Looks similar to Bug #317819: I am attached to a Exchange Mailserver. I get wrong information about unread mails. Now the title shows 32763 unread mails of -4188284 total mails. I will attach a screenshot. Something related: When I start evolution, it currently shows 24 mails as unread, but when I open the folder, no mail is actually unread. Using mark all mails as read does not help. After some time, the folder mark is normal = no unread mails again, until I restart evolution. This happens since I use the TouchDown Exchange client from NitroDesk for the Android G1 phone. If I mark a mail as unread, then it shows up as unread, but after reading it, I have one more mail which shows up as unread. According to the TouchDown developers they do this upon marking a mail as unread: When marking the mails as read, we simply update the mail in exchange with the unread flag. This is 100% reproducible. [Bug 330601] Re: Appointment acceptance mail with wrong sender address poses Yes/No question, but only gives OK button
I am using 8.10 with Evolution 2.24.3. There about 1 Zillion ways to have another mailaddress. I'll give you some examples: First the one that drew my attention: Get an iPhone, attach it to an Exchange server and spell you mailaddress wrong in your account settings and accept an appointment. For the other examples let's assume the invited person has the mailaddress k...@kde.org and does also have access to an account k...@gmail.com (both accounts may exist, but are unrelated to me). There should be no SPF-check for the appointment creator for this to work; otherwise the mail may be rejected by the spam-filter. KMail: Use KMail to access the account k...@kde.org, receive an appointment, hit E and enter k...@gmail.com. Thunderbird: Get the mail-bounce-extension and bounce the mail to k...@gmail.com. Postfix: On the kde.org mailserver edit /etc/postfix/virtual and enter a line k...@kde.org k...@gmail.com Then do a postmap /etc/postfix/virtual; /etc/init.d/postfix reload Sendmail: Do the same with /etc/mail/virtusertable and then makemap hash virtusertable virtusertable Fetchmail: Fetch from kde.org and send to gmail.com Google-Mail: Go to Settings, Mail-Forwarding and enter ... eeh, ok, for this you have to do it the other way round and invite gmail and accept on kde.org Multidrop: Just create a multidrop mailbox and fetch from it. I think, you get the point. If you are still unable to get it working, just drop me a mail at my firstname@my lastname.de and I'll create a forwarder for you on my mailserver. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new appointment 2. Right click the appointment and select Besprechung ansetzen... (my translation: Schedule meeting...) 3. Enter a mail address for which the reply address will be different. 4. On the receiving mail account accept the invitation but make sure that the confirmation will be sent with a different sender address than the one you typed in step 3, e.g. due to domain canonicalization like scooter-attack instead of scooterattack or a mail forwarder. 5. when receiving the confirmation click on Teilnehmerstatus aktualisieren (my translation: Update participant's status and you will get the message BTW: I tried to reproduce this with KMail, but KMail notices the different address and asks me which one to use for the reply. -- Appointment acceptance mail with wrong sender address poses Yes/No question, but only gives OK button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330601 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As the 'Guidance Power Manager' applet only works if you have a battery, I installed kpowersave which does also allow suspend to RAM. I've got the same problem with a Realtek ALC861 on a Toshiba A7. I got it somehow fixed by doing this: 1. disable full duplex of artsd (full duplex sound still works) 2. unload/load the driver.
