I have same situation with ubuntu server 14.04.2, kernel 3.13.0-32-generic, nfs-kernel-server 1:1.2.8-6ubuntu1 As workarround for me, I disable --manage-gids option. I not have a users more than 16 groups. I can confirm this bug on Oneiric 11.10, evince 3.2.1-0ubuntu2.2 When I try to load the pdf via evince on the url in terminal it will reload and re-download the document multiple times in rapid succession. It appears to taper off after the first minute or two of having the document open. Sorry for the ambiguity but the behavior is not consistent.
