[Bug 789123] Re: Eclipse crashes/quits without any error messages

2011-08-26 Thread Leviathan
Mellon,

I found this Thread by searching the Web for a bad error message:
# Problematic frame:
# C [libswt-pi-gtk-3735.so+0x3cf5e]
Java_org_eclipse_swt_internal_gtk_OS_GTK_1ACCEL_1LABEL_1GET_1ACCEL_1STRING+0x0

My Eclipse crashed, too, which led to a loss of a real good bunch of
heavily edited classes before I could merge it with my Git Account.
Headshot.

Well, but I would like to submit Logs which I got from the Termination
of Eclipse. Eclipse crashes on my Computer from time to time (perhaps
twice a day or at one time in a whole week ).

The last time Eclipse crashed, when I tried to edit the Sorting of the
Eclipse Task List (TODO Stuff). The whole IDE just vanished but left two
Logs. Another crash happened some time ago, when I accessed the Code
Completion Window to see what Methods were available for some Object.

I have no idea who or which section of Launchpad is able to undergo an
investigation in this case, but I would really appreciate it, if my
classes won't just go... =)

Best regards,
Semo

[Bug 654826] Re: Python 2.7 missing in debian_defaults

2011-01-30 Thread Leviathan
Hello Hantho and others

I just had the same 'exception(?)' when taking the command 'sudo apt-get
upgrade'. I'd suppose this is no bug, due it lead not into an error
while the upgrade process ran, but it's IMHO a lack, missing feature,
whatever.

As Dag Odenhall posted in the opening entry, he added the content of
'/usr/share/python/debian_defaults'. It seems, that someone can avoid
the issue, by replacing the line with the stuff from here:

# all supported python versions
supported-versions = python2.5, python2.6, python3.0 (or whatever Version)

--
DON'T:
So if any of newbies read this post. Please don't set python3.0 as standard!
When I tried this, it lead into a bunch of bad errors. It seems to me, that a
lot of python programs, packages and installers still aren't made to run this
version.

# the default python version
default-version = python3.0
---

But one thing is, that I also don't understand what 'nothing to fix in
maverick ' means. Why isn't e.g. my freshly installed python2.7 not in
the list of the supported versions from debian_defaults? Unfortunately,
I still don't understand the dependencies of the mentioned file. Where
can I get more info?

Best regards to all,
Sebastian

[Bug 659694] [NEW] Upgrade process stops due to recurring error of pre-dependent packages

2010-10-13 Thread Leviathan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Hello Folks

Whenever I try to upgrade my distribution of Kubuntu 10.04 to the latest
version, the updating process stops working. The error is as follows:
E:Couldn't configure pre-dependent x11-common for x11-xkb-utils,
probably a dependency cycle.

Then I'll get error code 1. What is it meaning?

My System:
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release:10.04

Best regards,

[Bug 259385] Re: Intrepid Compiz hangs on login for i830MG and i845 video cards

2008-10-28 Thread Aero Leviathan
My machine is an HP Pavilion minitower, not a laptop. The model number
is A210N. Not sure how this might relate to the release notes text,
maybe just add '...and some older desktops' to it. (It is about... 5
years old, I guess. How time flies.)

The maintainer(?) for the video card driver should also be made aware of
this, because it is a regression.

At least myself and one other that are experiencing this problem did NOT
experience it with Compiz enabled in previous versions of Ubuntu.

Compiz is apparently enabled by default, so this is a showstopper for
new users.

I can also confirm that this bug still exists in today's RC.

[Bug 277344] Re: Intrepid CD Live Gnome desktop fails

2008-10-21 Thread Aero Leviathan
Same symptoms, same workaround, but I must also add that the same
machine ran Compiz quite nicely on Feisty and Hardy (enabled by
default), so I do not believe the hardware is incompatible with Compiz.

I suggest others here try booting from a Hardy desktop CD and see if it
runs with 'desktop effects' turned on (GNOME menu Preferences
Appearance Visual Effects). Either the 'normal' or 'extra' setting
will use Compiz, whereas the 'none' setting uses Metacity (I think).

Losing Compiz is no deal-killer, but it is nice to have.

[Bug 112297] Re: Brightside forgets the edge flipping configuration

I can confirm this behaviour.

Thanks for the workaround, but shouldn't this be something that the
package manager sets up upon installation?

Where can I track the status of this new package?

Also, is there a way to see what's in the 'partner' repository, as it
does not seem to be shown on http://packages.ubuntu.com ?

[Bug 189764] Re: Running Adept Update Manager fails. error msg available

2008-02-13 Thread Leviathan
Hello Developers

This really strange. How can this be? I installed a distribution of
Kubuntu completely with no user changes on the installation process. How
can there be an error? I did not customize something. This is really
annoying. Especially when nobody is answering my Thread!!! Why is it
still undecided? Isn't anybody interested in this problem??

I think it is highly important, due to a normal installation should
enable every computer to run properly the main programs.

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Another thing is, when I install further programs like Eclipse, then
Adept downloads all packages needed, and it tries to install, but then
it tells me the installation has failed. But when I look into the
programs List, then the icon appears and the program runs fine... How
comes to that?

Kind regards,
Leviathan

[Bug 189764] [NEW] running adept update manager fails. error msg available

2008-02-06 Thread Leviathan
Public bug reported:

Hello Developers!

I tried to run the Updates of the Adept in Kubuntu. But it fails. First
it loads all new packages. After downloading all Ressources the Adept
began to install all available packages, but it stopped.

Then I cancelled the error and immediatly a window on the top left of
the screen appeared and it told me, that there are Updates available for
my 7.10 Version. I thought I already got the current version of KDE and
Linux. So I did nothing and let it run. The Updater only completed the
first step (forgot which one it was) and then it told me, that (what I
remember) there is a problem with the Adept manager and the software
suggested to solve the problem on its own. But it failed.

I restarted the X-Server in the hope, that there was only a simple
problem, but it would not let me to update my version of Kubuntu again.
So I don't know what to do.

I saved a crash report on my Desktop. If anybody is interested in that
file, please don't hesitate and mail me.

[Bug 179625] nullidentd man page and default configuration is wrong

2007-12-31 Thread Aero Leviathan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nullidentd

'man nullidentd' lists syntax as thus:

nullidentd [uid]

Additionally, default supplied /etc/inetd.conf line is:

ident stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/nullidentd
nullidentd

These are both wrong. Correct syntax is:

nullidentd [-u uid]

Daemon always returns hard-coded default of 'foobar' if suggested
(wrong) syntax is used.

[Bug 108350] Re: PS/2 mouse/mice does not work

2007-04-25 Thread Aero Leviathan
Do you have a reason to conclude that the Virtual PC problem is the same
problem? I think that's premature.

I have been having trouble determining what my motherboard type is
(suggestions?) but I note that in System Administration Device
Manager, almost everything seems to be from Silicon Integrated Systems
(SiS). I wonder if Mr Best could tell us whether his configuration is
similar? If so, this may be a duplicate of bug 108221, which does not
seem to have received any attention thus far.

I also note that I did not have any problems with my PS/2 keyboard in
Feisty, which I had meant to include in the original report but forgot.

Bug 108382 seems to be a duplicate of this bug, but the level of
discourse in that report does not seem to be at all constructive... :)

[Bug 108350] PS/2 mouse/mice does not work

2007-04-20 Thread Aero Leviathan
Public bug reported:

My PS/2 mouse will not work under 7.04, though it worked perfectly under
6.10 with no configuration. Just a plain 2-button+wheel wired mouse.
Ubuntu's running on the bare hardware (no VM).

sudo cat /dev/input/mice and sudo cat /dev/psaux produces no output.
(6.10 was using /dev/input/mice)

Several reports on the forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415872 (mine)
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415462
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=415318

There are also many reported VirtualPC/USB mouse problems, but I wasn't
sure if those were separate issues.

Some people are saying this is a 'kernel bug' but I couldn't find
anything else about that and I don't know where they got it from.

Sorry I couldn't think of any more information to include; I'll do my
best to answer if you can think of any questions.
